Re: Atari System 1 & 2
I am having trouble running the core. When I try to open Marble Madness I get an error:
games/mame/atarisy1.zip/none
none not found
Anyone know how to remedy this? I never had this issue with any other arcade game I've tried to play.

Utility Cores Not Working
I looked around and this seemed to be best place to post this. Apologies if it's not. When I load a utility such as the RAM test, I briefly see some video but then I get nothing. I can't even see the OSD if I try to bring it up. I know the core is probably functioning even though it's a black screen because if I do they keyboard strokes to bring up...

Operation Neptune no sound or music
Hoping that several people here remember this game from The Learning Company. When I played this as a kid, I swear it had PC speaker sound and/or music. When I load it up from the ao486 core though, there is no sound or music. I even tried turning on MUNT local playback and nothing. This is the DOS version I'm speaking of. Has anyone else had this ...

Why Doesn’t the Scan Doubler Work With PSX Core?
Is this is one of those things where it just can't possibly work or is it one of those things where someone might get it to work in the future?
What is the reason why it doesn't work?

Thanks to flynnsbit on the discord server for telling me how to fix this:

Strange Behaviour in DOS [Solved]
I noticed similar behaviour after a few months of using this core and I just kind of ignored it because most of the games I tried worked. Then it just kinda kept bothering me so I decided to do a fresh install of DOS to see if that would help. xqyzBY5.jpg This was a simple batch file: @ECHO OFF CLS :START ECHO ######################################...

Gameboy Overclock?
I'm wondering is it possible to have an overclock feature on the Gameboy/GBC core. I don't ask this to demand it be implemented because I respect the developers and their time, but just wondering is it even possible.
I was playing Mega Man 5 on the Gameboy recently and woo boy it sure could use a faster cpu.

Re: VGA Mode Changing for 720x400 and 640x400
So what is it about that modeline that makes my monitor think it's a 75Khz signal? You need to have the core set to variable for these modes to work. It sounds like you changed it to variable after starting the core. If you save the settings, make sure you first memorize the key presses to get to that setting in case the monitor can't sync and you...

Re: VGA Mode Changing for 720x400 and 640x400
This is what I've got in my ini file: Yet when I launch the ao486 core my VGA monitor is telling me the horizontal frequency is 75Khz which is outside the operating range of my monitor. Normally the core starts in 720x400 for DOS, right? I'm pretty far out of my league here. I don't know what most of the terms mean in a modeline. The last number i...

so I have tried this new option but my VGA CRT keeps reporting it is being fed 15khz. I thought setting the vga_scaler=1 would solve that problem? Is there something else besides the code above that I should be entering in my ini file?

Re: Scandoubler problem with a0486 core
I have the same monitor but I don't have the issue you have. Here are some of my settings: I have forced_scandoubler=1 vga_scaler=0 vscale_mode=1 vscale_border=0 direct_video=1 video_mode=6 I'm not sure about the other computer cores but from what I understand, the ao486 core is forced through the scaler so forced_scandoubler doesn't do anything. Re: Red Alert on ao486 hangs during install
Sometimes using QEMM as the memory manager can help with the DPMI bug that plagues the core which might help you get the install going. Caldor is right, DOS32a can get around it as well. I know once the game is installed I think it is GAME.DAT that you run DOS32a with to get it going in the core. I installed QEMM and ran the installer again but th...

Re: Red Alert on ao486 hangs during install
You're right, the installer does use DOS4GW. I tried using the command DOS32A d:\setup.exe but it says "exec format not supported in file d:\setup.exe". I have tried using this command with a few other setup files on the CD but I get the same error.

Red Alert on ao486 hangs during install
I made an ISO of my own C&C Red Alert game and I'm trying to install it on ao486 but when it gets to the part where you see the progress bars on the right side it just freezes. I have tried to install it without sound, turn RAM back to 16MB, and turn off L2 cache but nothing works. I am running DOS 6.22. Has anyone else tried doing this and it ...

Re: VGA CRT and ao486
Don't you have to specify an output-resolution in the MiSTer.ini even when using direct video? I thought that was only if you were using the scaler. I thought direct video meant outputting whatever resolution the core was designed for and to hell with your display. Here's something else: the github page for the 486 core says it outputs a horizonta...

VGA CRT and ao486
So the 486 core uses a resolution of 720x400 - fine, cool. I tried using direct video and my monitor would not accept the signal. Now when I connect the same monitor to my Win98 rig and turn on the computer, the OSD reports that the computer is outputting 720x400 just after the BIOS screen but before Win98 finishes loading. So if my monitor can han...

Re: SMB3: Super Mario Adventure romhack not running?
I was able to help someone on the MiSTer Discord get it working. It doesn't work because of some SRAM issue but someone made a patch for that: https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=395.0 The SRAM patch is not directly available to download from the OP but the second post in that thread is by Drakon and he mentions combining the patch with his RG...

It could be your USB hub. Are you using the official 2.1 hub? I got mine about two weeks ago and I'm just about ready to sell it again because of all the issues it has with wireless. 8bitdo bluetooth dongle? Won't work period. USB Hub v2.1 and bluetooth (Updated with log info)
This is related to an issue with the 2.1 MiSTer USB hub and bluetooth adapters. I didn't update my previous thread because visibility and also I feel like I was bringing a lot of new data plus it's not specific to 8bitdo anymore. I've determined how much power each of my USB devices is drawing. 8Bitdo BT dongle - 0.5A 8Bitdo M30 2.4ghz dongle - 0.1...

To those out there using a PC CRT or a VGA CRT (not sure what the appropriate term is), what is a good way to calibrate the brightness and contrast? My VGA output looks really washed out. I'm more used to using consumer TV CRTs and not VGA CRTs.

Re: 8Bitdo bluetooth adapter + usb 2.1 hub
Sorg and Ryuoken, I have discovered something interesting but I'm not sure if this will change your answer that this is a power supply issue. I used lsusb in the Linux terminal to see what it detects when I plug in the 8bitdo bluetooth adapter. It shows up as 045e:028e which is an Xbox 360 Controller. If you guys ran lsusb, what does yours say for ...

Re: 8bitdo USB adapter gets stuck and registers no input after hard reboot
I have recently got my MiSTer up and running, and in general it works great. However, I have noticed some funkiness with my 8bitdo USB adapter. It works great at first, but gets stuck in an unusable state after hard reboot that requires that I unplug-and-replug it to get it working again. This regardless if I reboot the MiSTer from OSD or with &qu...

Re: 8Bitdo bluetooth adapter + usb 2.1 hub
I had a similar problem. What happened was that I was using a power switch between the power supply and the Y cable that splits between the main board and the USB hub 2.1. The switch was heating up so the device wasn't getting the correct voltage. When I removed the switch and connected the power supply directly to the Y cable Barrel Plug Splitter...
