which they clearly see as a threat to Analog output. Well, I mean there's only one secondary GPIO slot so it's one or the other. And we're all going to have a different opinion on what is more necessary. If you want Dual RAM, go Dual RAM. If you want Analogue, go Analogue. If you want neither, that works too. Just don't lash out at each other for ...

Re: The State of DACs for the MiSTer and Direct Video

Hi everyone,

I'm loving the reviews of the various DACs here, but wondered is there a spreadsheet or similar I can refer to? Maybe if some of the issues are categorised? Or is there a recommendation based on budgets/etc.?

Oh and parsing YAML from Bash is like pulling teeth on a rabid warthog.

My mind has been boggling with how that was working out - I'll have to look at how you did it at some point! It's been a while since I got heavy with Bash script.

Re: Is the Atari Falcon 030 possible in MiSTer?

I don't think size is such a problem. The whole Amiga core uses about 1/3 of the MiSTer fpga and it comes with 68000 and 68020 support and AGA graphics. So a Falcon shouldn't take up 3 times of this. Back in the 90's Moore's Law was truly in effect. So transistor counts were going up exponentially. An interesting piece of trivia: The original Moto...

Out of interest - exactly how much RAM is required on the second RAM stick to run all dual-RAM cores available today, and how much for this MK core? Are we talking the full 128MB? Or just a few KB/MB in practice? Right now the size of the second module is irrelevant, adding a second module just improves the overall memory bandwidth available on th...

There is no MK core

The only "correct" answer here is "whichever feels better to you." Doubling down on this answer. If you grew up with PAL then that's what you remember! I was reading through the "Overclocking for Neogeo" thread and found myself reading through a rather heated conversation. It probably would have helped me to see a "CoreDev" tag to understand the opinions. Not that us users' opinions are worth any less, but the tag maybe would add some weight to the conversation. N64: To PAL or not to PAL?

So I've been using the N64 core with PAL versions of games so they're just as I remember them.
It occurs to me the NTSC versions will likely give me a few extra FPS but will I be sacrificing anything in particular on any games (any exclusives granted)?

What do you want to do exactly? You can use MGL files to customize a core name and change default values without recompiling. I don't get why people are going full argument. It's an opinion. My opinion right now is "Dual RAM? Nah." "Dual RAM? Nah." would have been a much better response than (to paraphrase) "If you aren't going to accommodate me, then enjoy your obscurity". Again, I find this a weird perspective... rather than seeing a developer releasing a new core that people have been asking for as positive, you instead view it as their way of "telling people their configurations are wrong". Do you really think they are putting in months of free effort just to frustrate people with a particular hardware ...

Well Initially I had a 128mb Analog. When Dual ram was suggested for the PSX. I got another 128mb stick, a New Digital IO board and some replacement parts for the case. If I ever want CRT I will do so via the HDMI. That's fair enough, that's what works for you :) I liked the MMS for having better port organisation (at the back or the front and not...
