Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

For me the usual bios files still work, after renaming then to .bin and updating mister to the latest version.
Games still work in general, even though every new core version seems to bring some regression side effects.
Honestly I've not followed recent evolutions of the Saturn core with the same level of attention as in the past, though.

With that it works for me thanks

Rename your boot.rom to boot.bin. Load the core, load the bios from the menu. If you have any boot.rom the core wont work

Didn't have time to test this latest release yet, it may well be more unstable than usual...

Can't get the saves to work and I keep getting a message in my games saying that the memory is full. What am I doing wrong?

Re: MiSTerFPGA community on Twitter alternatives, share your Username here!

I've been enjoying Mastodon (well, a federated server) for some time now, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a great conversation space - without the usual inconvenience of big tech. Bluesky may be a good alternative perhaps, but I have no first hand experience there. Full disclosure: I might be biased, though... I've never had a Meta (face...

Is there a place in the forum to sell used stuff?

Hi all
do we have a place in the forum where to list used hardware parts for sale? I mean not as a business, just some used parts you don't need any longer
Couldn't find such a place, on the other hand couldn't find an explicit mention of this being forbidden in the forum rules/FAQ
thanks

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

You don't see it easily as an end user, I think.. Core developers might use it to improve RAM bandwidth and get better core performance (for instance create a mister core for a system with relatively high RAM speed) Please note that I'm an end user myself, not a core developer, the above is just my understanding of this matter. Thanks for the info....

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Too early to tell, I'm afraid... I'd wait to see if this core - or some other cores currently being developed - may require/offer better performance with double SDRAMs in their final stable version In general stable cores usually work with a single SDRAM card, so far at least, yet double SDRAM sticks (any size) give better latency.. It all depends ...

Re: SD Card Not Booting Anymore

That was bad luck @Herrberzerk, sorry to hear that... If you're forced to reinstall from scratch, I'd recommend creating immediately afterwards a clone of the base installation (say everything except the Games directory) on a small SD card using Natrox's Migration utility That way you can recreate the base mister installation on any SD card in a ma...

Re: Here We Go! (New User Troubleshooting some issues)

Honestly I'm not sure I'm getting where/what happens ("opening the INI")... If you connect a USB keyboard to your mister, press F9 to launch a terminal (usr: root, pwd: 1 by default) then you may use the basic Linux tools and editors For a somehow easier experience there's Midnight Commander pre-installed, you launch it with "mc"...

Re: Here We Go! (New User Troubleshooting some issues)

Welcome onboard :) I can't help on CRT displays, unfortunately The update_all script auto-updates itself to the latest version every time you launch it, and if you adjust its options (press arrow down quickly after launching the script) you can modify default options and repositories for the script. Personally I run the script (manually) every few ...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I can only report that I have two 128MB v3.0 SDRAM modules in my MiSTer, and they work like a charm - including with the Saturn core. Whatever the reason for the Saturn core not working for you, I don't think it's the v3.0 SDRAM module (unless it's a faulty one of course) Since the core is still in its early stages, having two SDRAM modules does li...

Re: 8Bitdo Pro 2 Wired Controller Not Working

Thanks for the update, glad to hear you've solved!
Have you tried re-upgrading that controller to the latest firmware version, after downgrading it?
Wondering if it was just a bad flash, assuming it's possible at all, or if that specific controller holds a grudge against the latest firmware version :D

Re: [New version!] SD Card Migration Utility for MiSTer: An easy way to migrate to a new SD card, no PC required

HI Natrox I've just copied the mister SD card with your script: everything went well, I could even skip the contents of the games folder, I couldn't be happier! Just one question - or perhaps a proposal for next version: would it be possible to flag the entire games folder as not to be copied, instead of having to go through all of its subfolders o...

Re: 8Bitdo Pro 2 Wired Controller Not Working

I've tested my fully up-to-date wired Pro 2, trying to replicate the conditions you've described; the controller didn't show any weird symptoms, even when intensively using the rumble function. Excluding the game, I'd think of an issue with either the USB hub or the controller itself, I'm afraid... a weak power supply might be a remotely plausible ...

Re: 8Bitdo Pro 2 Wired Controller Not Working

It might be the USB hub itself, instead of the controller.. Just thinking out loud here
Either way, a weird issue to be sure

Will try to do some testing tomorrow night, even though my updated wired Pro 2 works without any issues as far as I can tell.

Re: 8Bitdo Pro 2 Wired Controller Not Working

I have a wired Pro 2 too, and after updating it to the latest firmware recently it still works in my mister Actually it works better now, as you don't need any longer to press the B button while plugging it in; it's now the controller default behavior. (I still prefer pressing Y while plugging it in, as that maps it differently, but it would work f...

Sound should work for single and dual SDRAM configurations, when using the latest core version; sound volume lower than usual, perhaps. At the start of the game there's the OPTION menu, where you can test sounds Just a question guys.
