Re: MiSTer with LG Dual Up 28

This is really interesting! How does 16:18 compare to 4:3? I’ve seen some comparisons of aspect ratios but can’t seem to find it now.

Thanks! I’ll have a look.

Btw. Where in the ini file should I look for the blank settings?

Now when the DK core is updated with the most recent update, is it possible to get the ”new” and imo better sounds that schendel implemented?

Do updates change the video settings in the ini file

I'm just trying to figure this out... I have a custom video setting in the ini file (1600, 1200...). I start the Donkey kong core, have it set to original aspect ratio, looks great. I update to the most recent version (in which the DK core is included). Now the original aspect ratio looks different and fills less of the screen. Why is that? Are the...

Re: Shadow Mask Support for Older Arcade Cores

I did an update today and noticed that the latest update now has shadowmasks for the older arcade cores I tried.

I tried the DK core and it now has shadowmasks. Looks great, however the aspect ratio was different, at least for me. (The original aspect ratio setting now is smaller than before the update).

I'm revealing my ignorance here, but here goes...

I have my ipac set up as keyboard so to speak, I can play arcade games and so forth. What is the difference if one should go through the guide with the joystick id and ini settings and so forth?

VGA Scanline Generator

Has anyone tried this on their Mister?

I see that there are different options out there, both for vga and for hdmi connections. I was wondering how it would look when using a lcd vga monitor.

For example: http://arcadeforge.net/SLG3000/Scanline ... anguage=en

Or is it unnecessary due to the video processing options..?

Sortof, my K7000 works fine with a MisterCade addon, it's a Wells and Gardner but it's 25". If it was made in the mid 80 or later, should be the same electonics

Thanks!

Re: Weird Monitor Behaviour

Its the opposite, some of these older LCDs can be laggier on the analog side. It has to go through the process of sampling analog input into quantized digital pixels before it can display. HDMI->DVI keeps the entire thing in a digital pixel format so there is zero loss of quality and gives Mister the max control over scaling the image, and as ment...

Re: Weird Monitor Behaviour

Thanks alot!

You're correct, I am using the vga connection (with vga cable). Will it work with a hdmi to vga adapter, I'm asking because I think I got one laying around or is it better overall to use DVI?

Also, I've read that dvi adds some lag, is that true?

Thanks!

Weird Monitor Behaviour

Hi,

When my Mister boots and my Dell2007fpb auto adjusts I get this weird behaviour. At first the menu is centered but after adjusting it gets off center with a black border... does anyone know why that is?

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

Wow! Thank you so much for this, absolutely brilliant, what an improvement!

I realised now, that the overall volume is lower in DK compared to a lot of the other arcade cores, is it like that for everyone or is it just on my end?

Thank you so much again.

If no one else is already working on this, this seems to be something I can fix I don't think anyone is currently working on this. It would be greatly appreciated if you could make improvements! Thanks! You could try reaching out to jopdorp via github. He hasn't logged into this forum since August. I agree. I would consider sponsoring it on patreon.

Re: Turn off EDID

Sorry, it's been a long day, and I'm an idiot... It is a LCD Dell 2007fpb 20" via VGA. The weird thing is, I've tried changing the custom aspect line (adding a 1 before 1600) and that makes the menu look ok but the arcade core's aspect ratio is wrong. If I remove the 1, the menu is off center, and the auto adjusting starts, but the game's aspe...

Re: Turn off EDID

What monitor are you using? Giving you advice on video_mode probably won't be very useful unless we know that. One thing that can be done without knowing what monitor it is: what happens if you try just video_mode=8? Do you get a decent image? You can ignore that idea if you have a 4:3 monitor, which you may. I think you're trying to set 1600x1200...

Re: Issue With the Donkey Kong Core Original Aspect Ratio After Update

The ini file wont change during an update, but perhaps there is something configured in there that could be relevant. If nothing else it lets folk see your config/rule things out. If its only the donkey kong core doing it, you could try deleting/moving the 'dkong*.cfg' files from \config (\media\fat\config) on your SD to see if it helps. I had a l...

Re: Issue With the Donkey Kong Core Original Aspect Ratio After Update

Um, aspect ratio is not measured in inches. That's used for monitor diagonal size, but it doesn't give any info about the horizontal vs vertical ratio (i.e. the aspect ratio). Thanks for clarifying! I have a Dell 2007 fpb in my cab (20") and before the update I had it set to original aspect ratio which resulted in somewhat around 19" vis...
