Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I'll make it super easy. It's your RAM. Missing music is always RAM. Alright but, for a single SDRAM setup, it's "just" a matter of supporting a certain speed, or it's something else as well? My SDRAM is 2.5, and it tests for 1 hour at 144 mhz, which I guess is good, (most sellers of 2.9/3.0 usually warrant at 140 mhz, rarely more) but I...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

The need for the memory to test in the high 140s is incorrect. Something else is going on, though I'm unsure if it's some improvement in the RAM modules' design. As I mentioned above, my v2.5 RAM tested 142 MHz after a long while and I had many issues with the core. I just received a v.3.0 stick from MisterAddons and after an hour it tests worse th...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I've been messing with the Saturn core and several games don't run at all (e.g., Radiant Silvergun, Nights), while some don't have music (e.g., Panzer Dragoon), and others have some shimmering white dots on the screen (e.g., Dragon Force II), an issue I haven't seen anyone talk about. I've used both CHD and BIN/CUE files from sets noted here to wor...

Re: BIOS Discrepancies

Yeah, that file was broken (incomplete region-free patch). Luckily someone fixed that already, so that file (with a bunch of others) went into the junk pile. Gotcha, ok, didn't have time to test to see if it works or not. The link was the google drive one in the Reddit thread (not sure about that file.io one you have), this one: https://drive.goog...

Re: BIOS Discrepancies

If two files have the same checksum, they are identical. If one bit is different, the checksum changes. Yeah, I thought maybe a Korean BIOS version was just identical to another region's, just a different filename, but I misunderstood once I read the Segaretro page I linked above more carefully. This Reddit thread (https://old.reddit.com/r/SegaSat...

Re: BIOS Discrepancies

Interesting, I wonder if srg320's list is just the easily available ones floating around (same as those you found and the ones I've seen), which are not well named. It seems there are some more Saturn BIOS versions that existed, since there were quite a few variants, like the Samsung Saturn (see https://segaretro.org/Sega_Saturn/Hardware_revisions)...

Had the exact same issue. The patch linked to by NineX happily worked.
