No, it's not added to the official repo yet. If you look at the link in the first post, it points to Ace's github (the creator of the core).

I have the same issue. I run through HDMI, and just end up getting a black screen when I try to load the core. Similarly unable to bring up the osd menu, and will have to do a hard reset to get back to the mister menu. I'm gonna make a wild guess here, that both of you have "vsync_adjust=2" in your ini file. Please supply some more information about your setup, or else we can't help you. Are you running though HDMI or VGA? Are you using the scandoubler or other settings? Do you have sound?

Yes, use corename if no setname is present in the mra (in this case jtdd2)

Also, as Bits n Stuff mentioned, the name that is used as "corename" will always be listed down the left-hand side of the OSD when it is active in the core (might be hard to see if there is no image on screen tough, hehe).

The simplest way to describe it is for you to look up the name of the core in the MRA file of the game you want to launch with a special parameter. For instance for Double Dragon, you'll see something like: <misterromdescription> <name>Double Dragon (Japan)</name> <mameversion>0216</mameversion> <setname>ddragon</setname> <mratimestamp>20191127000...

When I wanted a second MiSTer i checked out Ultimate MiSTer. Got the awesome official case (in gold) as well as a complete setup otherwise (minus de-10). Ricardo responded quickly and was very professional and friendly. Very happy with the product i got (now my main MiSTer setup).

When i finally decided to get a case for my first MiSTer setup, I got the Acrylic case from MisterAddons. Still looks awesome on my desk to this day. He is a very active and valuable asset to this community.
