Re: 5× Vertical *Per-Game* Integer Scaling for Amiga Is Here
I don't know - to me Amiga is more important - but I would very much appreciate cropping (or simply over-scaling) and positioning on any core to make integer-scaling even better

Re: 5× Vertical *Per-Game* Integer Scaling for Amiga Is Here
5× scale doesn’t make much sense in any other resolution than 1080p I do appreciate your effort - definitely! - but aren't there any other resolutions than 1920x1080 where cropping would make the integer scaled image larger? Perhaps on some of these more or less common display types: 1280x1024 1366x768 1400x1050 1440x1080 1680x1050 1600x1200 2560×...

Re: 5× Vertical *Per-Game* Integer Scaling for Amiga Is Here
I've only seen MegaAGS available at places like ebay where they sell sd cards (expensive is perhaps an exaggeration).

Re: 5× Vertical *Per-Game* Integer Scaling for Amiga Is Here
I hope cropping (with Integer) gets implemented as an OSD setting too for games run outside MegaAGS - since it's hard or expensive to get your hands on the MegaAGS release, since it doesn't work for users without a 1080p monitor and many users haven' set up a shared storage space (that MegaAGS Workbench can access in the MiSTer filesystem).

That would be awesome! - but simply booting ADFs via MGLs would also be great.

Re: MGL files for C64 and Amiga don't work? [Solved]
Sorgelig is fixing this issue right now. The .f7 file for me was my SID filter setting (I guess that got reset when moving the file away). .f8 pointed to DolphinDos but I didn't notice any differences at all when moving it away temporaily. Amiga, AtariST and a few other computer cores still don't have support, though - other than their cores starti...

I needed to delete/move away a file called C64.f7 inside /config/ - that made my MGL files for C64 work - go figure

Re: Can't get MGL files to work
MGL is still a new implementation and is really not ideal for the average user and there are things that may still need to be ironed out or worked around. For example, the TG16 normally looks for CD images in a games folder named TGFX16-CD , but MGL looks under the core's name as specified in the <rbf> field so you either have to move the file int...

MGL files for C64 and Amiga don't work? [Solved for C64]
. I cannot make MGLs work for C64 and Amiga . I even got Sorgelig's MGL file for C64 and his file paths / placements - but it still didn't work :( Here are his parameters that supposedly work: <mistergamedescription> <rbf>c64</rbf> <file delay="1" type="f" index="1" path="scramble.prg"/> </mistergamedescripti...

I got Sorgelig's / Alexey's MGL file for C64 and it has these parameters:
<mistergamedescription>

<file delay="1" type="f" index="1" path="scramble.prg"/>
</mistergamedescription>
... but it doesn't work for me.

What about C64 or Amiga?
Have you had any MGL files work for computer core games at ALL?
I cannot make MGLs work for computer cores ... ONLY for console cores.

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
Eizo square monitor Hi - yes. I couldn't make Displayport work so I use DVI-D - tested a some hdmi-to-DVI-D cables and found two that work without flickering. They're both short (1.5 m) and have magnetic "filters" (magnet rings) at each end close the connectors. Actually one of them was an HDMI-HDMI with a connector-converter to DVI-D I ...

Re: Automatic horizontal integer scaling implementation on SMS/Genesis/potentially others
Both should work with Alexey's new integer Genesis core ... but you should always use a reso that best matches you screen's if possible - 1920x1080 is exactly half 4k afaik - so that's better than 1920x1440 ... we just have to hope that LG doesn't blur the image when upscaling it to double size. Otherwise there's not much to gain from using integer.

Re: Automatic horizontal integer scaling implementation on SMS/Genesis/potentially others
It looks like that isn't going to happen unless I can figure out a much more optimised way to do it. Not sure if it helps but a friend and I am/are working on a spreadsheet that calculates the best vscale_border and custom_aspect_ratio settings in MiSTer.ini 's core sections for getting integer scaling in any HDMI resolution: https://docs.google.c...

Re: Automatic horizontal integer scaling implementation on SMS
There's been a fair bit of talk lately about using custom aspect ratios with vscale_mode 1 to get integer scaling both horizontally and vertically. This works, but it's a bit of a nuisance. I've had a fiddle with the SMS core and implemented automatic horizontal integer scaling as an OSD option This is GREAT work! - thank you so much! - Please con...

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
FINALLY. I have a working solution now which should work on all screens. It's close to Yim's method but use vscale_mode=0 and set the vscale_border to shrink the image to the exact resolution I want. Note that for some reason vscale_border is disabled when vscale_mode is other than 0 (I'm hoping sorgelig will change this behaviour) so that's why I ...

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
OK, I got SNES to work now but not quite as I'd have liked. I either had to make the ratio narrower in 1920x1920 - just like Yim wrote - as square pixels exceeded the width - thus the largest image had slim / narrow pixels (7:8 perhaps or maybe even 4:5) and stretched graphics - or - I had to go to a lower but less tall 4:3 resolution 1920 x 1440 (...

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
It's not my intention to further complicate this topic but I found no mention of pixel clock in this discussion. Pixel clock is important when calculating perfect aspect ratio's since it influences the amount of pixels per line. The aspect ratio calculator in my signature takes this into account. Thanks, morf77! - could you be kind enough to expla...

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
Thanks again! - I have a lot go on now with your input so I'm sure I'll get there eventually. I'm using native reso 1920x1920. Very good point about the width being too narrow (for square or wide pixels) - I could use 1920x1440 or 1920x1600 perhap, but I'd trade some size for pixel sharpness probably and will try to work with my screen native reso ...

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
Will non-square integer pixels give shimmering? - I thought that as long as all pixels had the same size / aspect ratio there would be no shimmering.

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
Thanks SO much, guys! - it seems this is a lot more complex than I first thought. BUT you helped me make it work now yeehaa!
My new screen is square (1:1) - 1920x1920 so my procedure needs to take that into account.

Re: Guide: Perfect image sharpness (square pixels, no shimmering) via custom_ratio in Mister.ini
256x192 is 4:3 yes - running that core in 4:3 (with integer-scaling) should give you perfectly sharp and square pixels ... but if - on the original hardware - pixels weren't square you'll get a bit squeezed image. It should also possible to get sharp (but not square) pixels using the ratio of 64x5 : 64x3 (5:3) or - perhaps better - 5:4 ... making t...
