Re: USB to DB9 serial to add a real serial port to computer cores?
I'm able to receive data but don't seem to be able to send it. I'm using Hyperterminal in AO486 Windows 95, and NComm in Minimig. I'm connected to a TheOldNet.com Wifi serial modem through a PL2303 USB to serial cable. I set up the connection as 8-N-1, xon/xoff 300 bps according to the TheOldNet instructions. I see its welcome message and instructi...

USB to DB9 serial to add a real serial port to computer cores?
Hi, I'm wondering if I can use a USB to DB9 serial adapter connected to the MiSTer to add physical devices through a serial connection. For example, a modem, GPS or Palm Pilot. I would be specifically interested in doing this with the ao486 and miniMig cores.

Re: DNS Not Working Most of the Time
I appreciate your expert help. My 2 cents is that a simple change to avoid this would be a change to the Wifi script that asks for your country code. People like me who avoid in-depth configuration are going to run that script instead of editing the wpa_supplicant file by hand. The Wifi setup docs say it's the easiest way to configure Wifi. I ran t...

Re: DNS Not Working Most of the Time
It is working now. I confirmed my Wifi radios are set to US and edited the wpa_supplicant.conf file. Originally it had only the WIFI SSID and passcode: network={ ssid="MySSID" psk="password" } I edited it with the additional config from the _wpa_supplicant.conf file, including country: ctrl_interface=/run/wpa_supplicant update_c...

Re: DNS Not Working Most of the Time
I updated the access points and created a new SSID that is just one access point and just 2Ghz. No luck. I'm thinking it may be the hardware.
One thing I notice is that when I run the Wifi script, it spends a long time on the "Saving" screen, with it blinking every half second or so. Is this normal?

Re: DNS Not Working Most of the Time
Thanks for looking into this.
My wpa_supplicant.conf file just has the ssid and psk, no country is listed. Is this required? I don't see a country in my router settings.
I am running the same SSID on two access points, and at 2ghz and 5ghz on each, for a total of four connection points. Could this be an issue?

DNS Not Working Most of the Time
Hi, my MiSTer has an intermittent issue with the DNS not resolving. The problem sometimes goes away after a reboot, but I'm experiencing it on 90% of boots. My MiSTer uses the same DHCP server as my other devices, which all have working DNS. The network is working. SMB works, I can browse the SD card from my PC. SSH works. I can log into the DE-10 ...

I can't seem to figure this core out. When I load up any game, it just shows all sprites on screen, kind of like when you pop a new battery into the real thing. I cannot get past this, no matter what button I press on the keyboard. 'A' button should start game A and 'B' button game B, once you've mapped the buttons in the 'Define GameNWatch...

I don't think this is possible, you will need two controllers.
A way to split and combine physical controllers into logical controllers would be useful.

Mix Keyboard Keys and Gamepad Buttons?
I have a MiSTer case with an integrated keyboard. Is there a way to map keyboard keys and gamepad buttons for a single core? For example, the Atari 5200, Intellivision and Colecovision use controllers with 12 key keypads. Is there a way to map a gamepad to left/right/up/down and the action buttons, and the keyboard 0-9, # and * to the keypad buttons?

Re: Suggested temperature parameters for PWM fan?
Skipped frames. On which cores? Even with only a passively cooled heatsink this doesn't sound likely. Are you using the "low-lag" vsync option? I saw extreme stuttering on the beta PSX core after about 30 minutes of running. The inside of the case felt hot, and opening the case fixed the stuttering issue. However, after reading your note...

Suggested temperature parameters for PWM fan?
My MiSTer case doesn't have very good airflow and I've noticed skipped frames after a while on some cores. Opening the case solved the issue, so I assume this is heat related. I bought a PWM fan for the case with a controller that uses a temperature probe. I have a few questions on the best way to set it up: Where should the temp probe go? Should i...

Re: Is it OK to power 5v 260mA fan from Arduino header?
I'm using a 5v 4-wire PWM temperature speed governor that is supposed to go full speed at 35c. I assume this is where the fan would draw 260mA.

Re: Is it OK to power 5v 260mA fan from Arduino header?
It is a PWM fan. I have a small temp controller from ebay that I will use with it. My case doesn't have very good airflow and I notice dropped frames with some cores.
I don't have any IO board or other accessories, so it sounds like I have plenty of power reserve.

Is it OK to power 5v 260mA fan from Arduino header?
I want to run a 60mm 5v Noctua fan inside my MiSTer case, I was thinking of getting 5v from the Arduino header near the four slide switches. My fan is rated as using 260mA max current.
Can the Arduino header supply this much current?

Help with BT gamepad. Start button is always F12, can't be remapped to Start button in cores
I'm using an Atari VCS Modern bluetooth gamepad that has select, guide and start buttons like an XBox controller. When paired to Windows, the select, guide and start buttons show as separate button presses. I'm having problems using the Start button on this controller with MiSTer cores. It seems to be mapped to F12, which clears the button definiti...

USB hub not being recognized
I have a powered 4-port hub that works perfectly. I'm now trying a powered 6-port hub and having some trouble. My USB devices are a keyboard, bluetooth and wifi dongles. The 6 port hub works on Windows, and sometimes works with MiSTer if I unplug and replug it in after the Mister boots. The rest of the time it acts as if nothing is plugged in. My L...

Re: Power USB Hub v2.1 Direct From DE10 Nano?
I use a USB hub with charging connectors to power the DE10, a portable monitor and act as the DE10's powered USB hub.
It requires a USB to barrel connector for power and mini-usb to USB A for the Mister. I use the second charging port on the hub to power a portable monitor.
I can give the part list if anyone is interested.

Re: How to get an HDF made from a physical A3000 to boot in Minimig?
I don't even have my Mister booting yet (don't have all the hardware), but treating it like a normal Amiga, you can probably work around the problem. Since you can mount the A3000 image, you could create a native HDF with the Mister tools, and then just copy the files across. If you do it from the CLI, you'd end up with no effective difference. Th...

Re: How to get an HDF made from a physical A3000 to boot in Minimig?
Might the A3000 have been using SCSI instead of IDE? Pretty sure that might affect how the original disk was used. How did you make the HDF? Did you copy the files from the original disk or was there a way to make into into HDF that retained all the boot sectors, filesystem and everything? I might be easier to get to work to copy the files directl...
