Re: Latest ZXNext OS Core Not Working with MiSTer Core

Well, the core is in the core, right? I mean, MiSTer core is a port of TBBlue core. Firmware 1.44 seems to be alright'ish, as well as NextZXOS 2.08. We haven't really had any upstream updates since 2021, that's kind of expected. P.S. I personally don't see any issues with 3.02.00, but there is that questionable hotfix released as 3.02.01 and I am ...

Latest ZXNext OS Core Not Working with MiSTer Core

It looks like there is a bit of an issue with the MiSTer ZXNext Core not working with the latest ZXNextOS Firmware.

Details here - https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/ZXNext_MISTer/issues/12

Anybody have any information about the issue or potential resolution?

Re: Namco ND-1

I wrote the original MAME driver for this hardware (note I didn't implement the rotation used in Galaga Arrangement - is it even there now?) I own the Vol 1 PCB and had the SMT graphics ROMs removed temporarily so they could be dumped. Someone else dumped the Vol 2 ROMs. The graphics processor is the Yamaha YGV-608 - a multi-layer scrolling tilema...

Re: N64 Core

Quick one.

Has anybody had any issues with some games not responding to Up/Down on the controller? E.g. Pilotwings and Diddy Kong Racing don't respond to the up/down inputs. Mario Kart does, as does Quake 2 as counter-examples.

I have tried numerous controllers (except any N64 type ones), to no avail.

Re: ZXNext vhd editing

Long story short, man -s 8 losetup :) Also, I believe all modern DEs are able to handle partitioned disk images out of the box, but I assume you want to do it on the MiSTer itself to avoid copying large image files (works with any Linux system with any supported partition/filesystem). Updated 2023-08-13 to reflect important remarks from pgimeno . ...

ZXNext vhd editing

Hi, A low-level issue which I wonder if anybody has an answer to. In the ZXNext Core, I load the OS/Data from a .vhd file. Pretty common AFAIK. I want to upgrade the core with the latest version ZXNext OS, so does anybody have any decent/easy way of mounting a .vhd in Linux as there are a bunch of instructions lying about on how to do it, but would...

Congrats on your new purchase. You won't regret it and the community here are great.

Out of curiosity, what did you end up paying for it?

Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA

Has anybody tried MUNT at 50% OC? As someone who has gone from mt32pi first on a Pi3 to a PiZero2 now, I’d love to come full circle and have it emulated onboard. I'm feeling exactly the same. I'd love to simplify the MiSTer setup which removes the extra hardware for mt32pi. I'm gonna have a look at this, but I reckon the results will be subjective.

Re: MiSTerArch

Hi, Appreciate what you've done here and the work that's gone into it, but I'm gonna wait until this matures a little before I consider it. My main reason for using MiSTer is to learn about FPGA coding and the cores. The Linux side is not really what motivates me, so as long as it works, I'm good, because I can currently get much more support for i...

Re: Are we only using 50% of the resources?

It is interesting, if you run a core and then run "top" to monitor resource usage, it looks like half of the resources is being used.

I think the Cyclone V is 50% an FPGA and 50% an ARM architecture, so that might be it. i.e. when you run a core, you've 50% of the total noted resource for it.

Re: X68000 Beta - Updates and Releases

I'm sure others have commented here - but I've just got the latest core for this and all I get is a garbled type screen. I can use an early 2021 version of the core and it's fine, but anything after about August and it's scrambled 'junk'. I can see the flashing cursor as scrambled output, so it's booting ok. Any knowledge on why this would be? X68...

Thanks for the replies.

No gamma correction here, all setting reset.

I thought maybe SDRAM speed issues, but earlier versions work fine.

Re: PS1 compiling the core...

Good video - an update is that you can get v21 to compile it succesfully.

All you need to do is copy the pll_q17.qip undel /sys of the github project to pll_q21.qip.

Re: X68000 Beta - Updates and Releases

Me too. Unfortunately nobody has responded. Very strange. I posted this question on the discord server and was told that the core currently only runs properly at 800x600 resolution because the core has not had the standard scalar framework linked in yet. Haven't tried that yet, but you might want to see if that fixes the issue. Used the latest bet...

It's like saying "Is having a MiSTer device mandatory"?

Ironically enough, for me, it's a resounding "yes!"

Also, maybe try to figure the actual problem out and bring back where you're stuck with it?

Edit. Hell it isn't even sold through normal consumer electronics channels if that isn't the biggest red flag to warn off the average user I don't know what is. This! I'm not an average user and was alerted at the way in which I had to buy the board. Furthermore, I would also say that Terasic building a MiSTer compatible device would be asking for...

Just downloaded and run on my MiSTer - works really well on the A1200 AGA config. A few very minor graphical glitches and some key "sticking", but a great achievement for the hardware.

Congrats!
