Re: Nintendo 64 Input Situation

Ultimately SNAC/X is going to be the most compatible, but to add for anyone coming across this, the Raphnet v3 USB adapter is also great for an alternative way to get original Rumble Paks working. Outputs modern analog stick range, so works with other cores (like PSX), as well as perfect on N64 due to the stick range manipulation code on MiSTer for...

Re: Anyone got the Transfer Pak to work with PKMN Stadium?

Can confirm that all English language Gen 1 and 2 saves taken from GB cartridges will work in Stadium 1/2. Using a submodule gb01 all saves from GB cartridges came out as 32KB. Byte swapped and inserted into N64 sav files they all work. As of the latest core todays date, the only thing that does not work is GB Tower for Gen 2 games in Stadium 2. Ot...

Re: Can't understand how to get pixel perfect resolution on my Philips CM8833 CRT

Another update to the puzzle. Below are 2 images, both from MiSTer on my consumer CRT via RGB SCART from Analogue IO Board. One change to my INI. direct_video=1 Left; Border = No Right; Border = Yes DirectVideoOn_PAL_SMS_Border.png Despite the fact that I am not actually using the Direct Video signal (HDMI TV is very unhappy), somehow, that setting...

Re: Can't understand how to get pixel perfect resolution on my Philips CM8833 CRT

Interesting. If you could try SCART and/or HDMI that would be nice just to verify if nothing else. I can't imagine why you'd have different results on that front, but it certainly is odd. I did compare our INI files. Other than not using Direct Video, I couldn't see anything obviously different. I'm not aware of anyone else actively using SMS with ...

Re: Can't understand how to get pixel perfect resolution on my Philips CM8833 CRT

Hi there. Here is my Sonic 1 for comparison. Main difference may well be that I am using SCART onto a consumer CRT with an Analogue IO Board. MiSTer_PAL_Sonic1.jpg Interesting to see the difference there. Have you checked the HDMI output? It also appears broken, seems to be handled similar to my TV. I've no idea why your border is so different, but...

Re: Can't understand how to get pixel perfect resolution on my Philips CM8833 CRT

I'm still testing now. I've been linked the "SMS_20210926.rbf" (before your noted date of 20210930). I believe that should have the fix, but on my CRT the border is exactly the same. The image is shifted up, which I believe was a known issue in that version which was then fixed. But it is very odd. I've yet to find a core version with the...

Re: Can't understand how to get pixel perfect resolution on my Philips CM8833 CRT

Hi all. Hopefully forum etiquette doesn't mind the old post reply, but this topic is exactly what I've been looking for after some experimentation the last few days. Reading all the great work in this thread, and the update from Yim. Has the border change discussed in this post been rolled back in some time since? I don't see the improvements as in...

Re: Issue Compared to Real Hardware PAL SMS Music at 60Hz, Gameplay at 50Hz

Yeah the MiSTer core is currently only using the NTSC clock of 15x3.5795454Mhz = 53.693175Mhz. The SMS PAL clock is 12x4.43361875=53.203425MHz. The core will need PLL reconfig to switch between the clocks like the NES and SNES cores. Just updating this post after some continued communication on the Discord, and filing an issue on GitHub. There is ...

Re: Issue Compared to Real Hardware PAL SMS Music at 60Hz, Gameplay at 50Hz

Thank you both. Been AFK experimenting. The disabled BIOS setting will make it launch in PAL. The music, or indeed perhaps all of the PAL SMS running, still seems off and does not match my console. I have a UK Master System II Power Base (Model 3006-05). I don't think the MiSTer is running at the same speed in PAL mode. Golden Axe Warrior on MiSTer...

Issue Compared to Real Hardware PAL SMS Music at 60Hz, Gameplay at 50Hz

Seeing odd SMS behaviour comparing my console to MiSTer. There may be an issue/request in this, but I'm struggling to understand what is happening if anyone can help. Something strange going on with Golden Axe Warrior. My PAL no-mod SMS plays my PAL cartridge with the music at the same speed as the MiSTer set to NTSC. However, the gameplay on MiSTe...

Re: Help for Speakers near CRT for Digital Audio

Thanks akeley. I suppose a quick test of the speakers next to the CRT would not do any lasting damage, generally speaking at least. It sure is more complex than I'd imagined at first, but I'm grateful for all the helpful advice. I'll just have to try it out and see how I get on. Looking at my CRT as I type this, I'm sure I'll figure a way to make s...

Re: Help for Speakers near CRT for Digital Audio

Thanks very much for the advice, lots to consider. Based on your advice Crystal, I think those recommendations have helped me to understand the difference in where I'd potentially need a dac/amp. For my purposes, something like the below Edifier speakers might be ideal. I only have built in speakers on my HD TV too, so I'd get a multiple uses out o...

Help for Speakers near CRT for Digital Audio

This is more of an audio/speaker question, but hoping other CRT MiSTer users will have some advice. I'm buying the parts for my first MiSTer build, plan to use my Irish PAL consumer CRT. Primary plan is to use retrogamingcables to get both audio and video into SCART, setting VGA pin 9 for 5 volts. Secondary hope is an option to use headphones. Afte...
