Re: NES Core Adding Stereo Sound Like the RGB Mod

I suggest to add this to the core's github issues page. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/NES_MiSTer/issues This would probably be the quickest way to get it. Be sure to request adjustable stereo separation, and maybe a toggle option to change which voices go on the left and right since there are different possible combinations because there are mor...

Re: NES Core Adding Stereo Sound Like the RGB Mod

This person goes on to say most ppl leave it on mono, but I strongly disagree. I pretty much always use the stereo mode. I've installed a pot for controlling the mono/stereo mix of channels, and having some amount of stereo separation is definitely nicer than pure mono. But pure mono is also nicer than 100% stereo separation. You installed this on...

NES Core Adding Stereo Sound Like the RGB Mod

Hi I’d like to request a feature: My rgb modded nes has the ability to separate the sound channels into sudo stereo were it sends some of the voices off the cpu to one channel and the rest to the other. I very much prefer this sudo stereo sound vs the mono and it adds a lot of dimension to the music. It seems pretty simple how it’s achieving this a...

Re: Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

IMG_1640.jpeg I played more sq1 on Tandy mode. I remapped some keys: \ to num pad 7 4,8,6,2 on num pad to left, up, right, down Num pad 7 to regular 7 key This fixes the backspace and lets me use the num pad for all 8 directions. But if you go back to pcxt mode the kb will be incorrect since both machines are under one core and I find resetting th...

Re: Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

Tried all the modes on the ao486 core but it refuses to output a 15kh signal. One of the modes looks pretty great in games but dos txt is always slightly chopped off and can be hard to read. If as you say "it looks great in games" then that's 15 kHz modelines working as intended. The trade off is the slightly garbled text in DOS, but the...

Re: Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

Thank you, I tried your link to the wiki but it directs me back here to this post. Does anyone know what video mode this core (pcxt) uses to support analogue rgb output to a pvm. In the ao486 core, everything I’ve tried via the mister ini and custom video modes to get an image either doesn’t display correct if at all. The one mode that I get an im...

Re: Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

Space Quest works fine for me on PCXT in Tandy mode. Make sure that: Model is "Tandy 1000" in the System & BIOS menu You have a tandy bios selected in the same menu If Tandy is setup correctly, you will see text in low res mode that says: MEMORY SIZE = 640K as soon as you boot (it will take longer to load the BIOS and read drives) 20...

Re: AO486 Set Up Question

Anyone know why there’s two AO486 folders off media/fat? 1 is /media/fat/AO486 2 is /media/fat/games/AO486 I noticed if I use a share with cifs, when mounted it places the contents of the share into #1, even though the share folder is drive:\games\AO486. I ended up adding a second games folder on the share (drive:\games\games\AO486) to get the cifs...

Re: Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

Most of your problems with running games are described in the wiki (need for XTIDE bios, only 360kb images for Tandy). Regarding the colours, I think Space Quest on Tandy uses EGA-like graphics, so they might be different. EDIT: I see now you're talking about pcxt mode, so scratch that. If you're interested in games with Tandy-exclusive fx you can...

Re: Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

Update:
I got it working. I added the ide_xtl to the ec00 bios and then I was able to run in tandy mode with vhd support.

When I ran sq this way I am now getting the correct sound. I'll leave this post up just in case it helps someone else, and perhaps there's a way to switch the cga color pallet for the pcxt mode?

Tandy Sound on Space Quest and Odd CGA Colors

Hi, I'm having a heck of a time getting Space Quest to run in Tandy mode on the pcxt core. In the pcxt mode with pcxt31.rom, I can load up my ao486 vhd to access the game directory. The colors are not correct in CGA (they show up as orange, green, etc.) My original cga xt computer I had it was cyan, pink, white etc etc. In SQ1 there is a option in ...

Check the downloader.log. Everything is there. I found the folder and these log files (mine has multiple logs like downloader1.log etc). Looking at them with nano shows that they are blank. There’s one log that was called Linux update which had some txt inside. Maybe I need to manually update my update all script? I believe mine is showing version...

Saves After Moving a CHD to a New Directory

I have some significant hours invested into a game on the PSX core that uses saves, and I had to change the location of the .chd for this game to a different directory. When I did this, the saves are gone. If I move the .chd back, after recreating the folder, it shows up again. I understand where the saves file is stored and can go to it but its no...

Audio Volume Adjustments in psx core menu for music vs sound effects

Hi I'd like to recommend an additional setting for the psx core. I wish I could adjust the music volume vs the sound effects volume separately. I could be missing something tho. The stereo mix setting seems to affect how much separation in the left and right channels there is but not volume. There are games like Castlevainia SotN where the music is...

Re: Loading ROMs Directly from Network?

Sure that's possible. Under the hood all non-Windows systems use Samba for this. How it's configured depends on the particular OS itself. Ubuntu is just as good a candidate as any other. I use FreeBSD myself. Ok so I’m getting an error on my mister when I run my script to mount cifs. It says the connection is read only. It says read only right aft...

MiSTer LAN Ethernet No Connection After Idle

Hi, I've got a weird issue with my network connection on my MiSTer. I have it setup with a static ip. When I turn on my mister and it boots up to the menu, sometimes after a few minutes idle, I cannot connect to it via Putty or SFTP with filezilla. But I can ping the mister's IP from my PC on my network. If I power off the mister then back on and t...

I checked out that site and made some notes for modes to test. I also learned how to get the Fpix in KHz value by taking the Pixel clock and Multiply by 1000. Thanks for your time/...

I added the line to my ini and after reboot, I get no video on the monitor. I putty back in and replace the ini file with a backup to get it working again.

I have a dell u2410 hooked up via hdmi to the mister.

Maybe I’m not entering it correctly? Or my monitor can’t do 1920x1200 over hdmi?

Re: Setting Up A Static IP Address

Network configuration is now done with dhcpcd. You will have to modify the /etc/dhcpcd.conf file to setup a static ip. Add something like this on the bottom of the file: interface eth0 static ip_address=192.168.0.XX/24 static routers=192.168.0.X static domain_name_servers=192.168.0.X 8.8.8.8 For DNS, you don't need to Provide more than one but if ...
