Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

So I bit the bullet and got a Couchcade from Santa to see if it scratches that arcade itch and I got to say it's been good fun. But the intention was always to see if I can hack into it and use it as a USB controller. Going to get a Pi Pico next and see if I can wire it all up, and get some code running. Here's the inside, the spinner is on the lef...

Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

Here are some pics of the insides. I guess, like the Couchcade trackball + spinner, all you really need is access to wiring of X and Y (both directions), Ground, and possibly 5v. As you can see in a couple of pics, the boards have the directions written on them, so that should help with X1 X2, Y1 Y2 on the IPAC. Just need to find ground, and maybe...

Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

and, you have to hope it has wiring that is compatible with a USB controller - but, you need a USB controller that has trackball support. Something like an Ultimarc IPAC 2 will support trackball, joystick, buttons, and even a spinner, all on one controller. Actually I seem to remember that Arcade1up needs it's own interface to connect their spinne...

Re: CGC Game 13: UN Squadron (Capcom Play System) [Arcade]

One thing I appreciate in an arcade game over a console port is the ability to keep continuing all the way to the end by "adding credits" with the press of a button. Console ports often limit the number of continues. I'm not much better than average at most games, so I can appreciate the ability to spam credits until the end of a hard ga...

I was looking at this Couchcade and thinking it could be an easy mod to make into a wired USB controller with a £20 interface board.

I've only played the SNES version of this, so it will be good to compare to the Arcade version.

Re: EmulationStation Interface for MiSTer and a NES Style Case

I guess if you have a remote operated video switcher, you could potentially send launch commands from a Pi to a DE10 to launch menu'd games. You'd have to switch the video signal between the two systems if you wanted to share the same screen.

RMC had a barcode scanner that launched MiSTer games from original boxes. So remote control is possible.

What I heard is that, as it is one of Sorgelig's cores, the official update will probably happen the next time the core gets a framework update.
That's good to hear. Still makes me grin using this keyboard on this core. Certainly helps with the shortcut gymnastics.

Re: ZX Spectrum Recreated Would Work as Bluetooth Keyboard With MiSTer?

I'm not sure how it works with getting the official release rbf updated. Maybe people in this thread can test the unstable nightly version to see if it has any problems at all: https://github.com/MiSTer-unstable-nightlies/ZX-Spectrum_MISTer/releases/download/unstable-builds/ZX-Spectrum_unstable_20221108_20fb16.rbf All seems to work for me. Re: Arcade Cabinet builds and MisterCades: DIY, custom made orders, conversions, etc.

I’d also be interested in the target interface on the MiSTer? Is it USB? Or GPIO? Would it be identical to the RPi/Mame if people don’t want to spend on the MiSTer? There's a few arcade to USB interfaces out there with different latency timings and inputs. Most have similar requirements for input voltages, so it should be possible to knock up some...

Re: Arcade Cabinet builds and MisterCades: DIY, custom made orders, conversions, etc.

Ribbon: In my experience they’re finicky and easier to break. Something wireless of course would be perfect, but the lag would a killer :( I wonder if there’s any inductive signals solutions? There maybe a better solution out there. As long as the blocks are secure, transfer of player kinetics should be minimal. Ribbon cable is fairly cheap and ea...

Re: Arcade Cabinet builds and MisterCades: DIY, custom made orders, conversions, etc.

@seastalker, I think swappable panels are a must. There’s lots of physical connector options available to route the signals… ironically old console cartridges were designed for frequent insertions and removals :) So a card edge connector could be both cheap and reliable. @Hetzen, I thought it might be useful to integrate RFID/NFC tags onto the con...

I had an ST running Cubase for a few years. Never played games on it. The one I did was a platformer so I'll nominate that one. Droid 2 I'll second Obsession and Super Cars 2 You should nominate Cubase :D  I guess it could hook up to a Pi32, there might even be a midi interface out there that could control a load of soft synths on a modern PC.

Sorry :), didn't want to add any confusion to this.

I agree that unique threads make the games pop out and I guess that is the point of this part of the forum. Although the using of the core in the first place is as interesting.

Agree, see how fortnightly works out.

Apologies for not being very active the last few weeks. I've got a busy project on and don't have much time recently. I'm wondering if the Nominations and Selected game can stay in the same thread, so we end up with one thread per core. Changing the first post with a list of the winning/played games? If you don't get on with that game, you could re...

You have to use resistors for the LEDs. His wiring diagram is very good to show where they need to go. Buttons are momentary and just need to close the circuit.

I think that a PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS and Xbox 360, which are all cheap right now, covers most things up to modern consoles.

Extra gates should be directed at hardware addons and interfaces. Everything else is covered by the MiSTer.

I took another look at a long play video and it looks like a Megaman type of game where you decide which level you want to play next on a hex type progression map. Ishat right? It also looks as if you put experience into your abilities. It's a mix of megaman, a shmup, and gunstar heroes. The first part of the game is linear, you get a "bad&qu...

I'd play that. So seconded.
