Re: Screen Tearing on top of the Screen for Chippoke Ralph no Daibōken

This looks a lot like a bug in the LG C2 models, but the answers already answered probably apply in your case.

A 720p source on LG C2 models with "Boost" mode (lower input lag) enabled results in screen tearing at the top of the screen. It only happens when using 720p resolution.

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Excellent work! Booting games is just seamless this way. Although as someone with no DOS experience (real or MiSTer), I do have trouble with multi-disc games. For Red Alert it wants me to insert a disc with a specific title, but then the ISO files are just called disc 1, 2 etc. I can't tell which disc to select.

Re: Syncthing for MiSTer?

MiSTer runs a very stripped down version of Linux afaik. With some work you can probably install the correct program and dependencies and create a script to easily launch the desired sync operation.

Easiest way to get what you want is probably to setup a Samba share and mount your desired folders via the build-in script.

Re: Forked cores with 4K horizontal resolution support

This is a very nice solution. I don't know how the changes affect the cores' logic, but it seems worth it to keep this idea alive. Perhaps instead of a pull request for updated cores, you could make a pull request for the documentation. Perhaps it is possible to create a documentation entry for "unofficial 4k support" or something, in whi...

Re: Capture Problem on Atomos Ninja V Capture Monitor

The problem with the Ninja is that the default VESA timings used by MiSTer are not supported. The modelling calculator that is usually linked does not support setting custom timings, so that one does not work. You can set the desired VESA timing in the mister.ini : ; calculated mode: width, height, refresh[,flags] ; example: video_mode=1920,1200,60 ;...

Re: Capture Problem on Atomos Ninja V Capture Monitor

Sorry to bump an old thread, but since this is most relevant google hit when searching for this problem, I'll share my solution here. You have to use a custom modeline that the Ninja will accept. You can use one of the following: video_mode=1920,88,44,148,1080,4,5,36,148500,+hsync,+vsync ; for 1920x1080p at 60Hz (16:9) ;video_mode=1920,528,44,148,1...

Strange Ghosting on LG C2 OLED

Hi all, My MiSTer is connected to a LG C2 OLED TV and I'm experiencing a very strange ghosting issue which I cannot seem to relate to any specific setting. Essentially, the display seems to mangle the order of frames, causing the display to shift between the latest frame, folled by a frame that seems to be from 5 or so frames ago. At 60Hz the resul...

Re: New HDR Settings

Clipping in HDR space is normal, at least for consumer displays. Dolby Vision movies are mastered at something like 10000 nits, which is something no(?) consumumer display can show. Manufacturers, like LG, have to make some decision in how to handle this deficiency. One option is to 'compress' the brightness range into the ±800 nits that the e.g. t...

@OP: there's no need for such a passive aggressive reaction. You make a forum thread in which you share some files with zero context. There already are existing presets and I can make my own simply by experimenting. So what makes these specific filters special and/or worth creating a topic for?

Re: 4K LG CX OLED + MiSTer Settings?

The new vscale modes effectively achieve the same thing. Meaning that a core is rendered at 6x to eg 1344 lines of vertical resolution. Your LG tv will upscale from there. You currently lose out on setting a custom aspect ratio that way though. Yet again, manually sourcing and setting all the mode lines is much more time consuming. I find that just...

Thanks for this.

Are there known issues with using 32MB 2.2 XS SDRAM for the second module? I definitely have the right configuration, but the SPU RAM option in the PSX core is still grayed out.

..is there any (other) way to test whether dual SDRAM is working?

There already is a "Playstation Supplements" HTGDB list. In addition to that, I can recommend Retool for your '1G1R' lists. I'm not sure how accurate and/or complete Retool's lists are, but it seems nearly there at the minimum and at the very least it is VERY easy to use. At some point in the future I might be able to contribute a HTGD li...

If yes, when that option is greyed out does that mean that my dual ram is not working?

Yes. No games folder, so "cifs/PSX". Saw the hardcoded 'games' dir, but couldn't quite figure out which variables were assembled where and for what purpose. CIFS is definitely broken. I can browse the cifs folder and browse all mounted folders and subfolders, but rom files (and .chds etc) are not displaying. I'm sadly not good enough at python path traversal to suggest a fix.

Will love being able to easily add and remove favorites from my couch. Eagerly awaiting.

You might have enabled phone verification at some earlier time. It's not so much that individual server ask for a phone number, it just turns out that if some verification method is enforced on the server; the end user has to provide a phone number.

Re: Vertical bands in Super Mario Kart with 5x and MG shadow mask

Is it a 4K TV? Because no matter what, a TV will never use integer scaling. The Manufacturers don't like it. In addition, there are many many configurable and unconfigurable filters and whatnot used by the television in order to create the Good Looking image. It's a safe guess that most of those filter do not consider image 'deconstruction' filters...

Access Discord Server Without Providing Phone Number?

Hi,

The MiSTer Discord server requires phone number verification. Preventing bots without a phone number from joining is probably very useful, but I really don't desire to provide my personal phone number to yet another American, VC-backed, tech behemoth.

Is there anyway to join the server without adding a phone number?

Re: BGFX effects filter from MAME?

My uneducated guess is that this is most likely not possible. BGFX uses shaders, so to achieve the same on the Mister, you will somehow have to implement and execute these. The problem with MiSTer is that it does not really have the hardware for that. The ARM CPU can't efficiently calculate shaders so we can eliminate that one as an option. The onl...

Once the dust surrounding shadow masks on mister has settled, we can probably make a 'best of' selection. Certain masks at certain resolutions definitely mimic the look of real shadow masks. The UX with shadow masks is currently pretty bad, because, as you say, its very much trial and error. Unless you know how they work, you won't know what to loo...

I agree with you in that there are perhaps too many choices currently. Eventually some curation is probably in order, but right now the shadow masks are still very much in the experimentation fase. In addition, there's just too many variables that affect the way a shadow mask looks. You can't just make a single mask that looks good for everyone. So...

Shadow masks are fairly limited, mostly due to limitations in output resolution. You should think of shadow masks as an effect to give your image/pixels a bit of 'character'. It follows then that really, you should just try out a couple of masks and stick to the one(s) you like. It's not really about simulation ...although you can achieve results t...

Re: Reducing the space taken by the HTGDB Gamepacks with symlinks

I'd recommend mounting the samba share directly on your mister. It saves you the hassle of manually having to transfer files.

An alternative is using hardlinks, which could be more convenient depending on your use case:

Code: Select all

hardlink [GAMEDIR]
HTGDB is a great initiative for organising your roms. See the link.
