Re: MiSTer Nuked-MD MegaDrive Core

Not everyone considers strict adherence to accuracy 'best'. Isn't it the better baseline if the point of MiSTer is to recreate these old platforms? I'm always worried that a less accurate core may run games incorrectly that relied on hardware bugs (although then there is the problem of what one might consider the canonical chipset/revision of what...

Re: MiSTer Nuked-MD MegaDrive Core

I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the sound with this new core compared to the original one and other implementations of megadrive/genesis. Judging from my untrained ear I think I can notice clearer sounding FM synthesis in the few games I've tested and the output is much higher as well. I guess it'll get run by MDfourier and we'll have ...

Re: Initial WRAM/ARAM settings

I'm guessing SNES2 means 2 chip but I'm not sure There is a bug with the intro in Soul Blazer where you have to set the values to 9966(SNES2) for wram and/or aram for the drumroll at the beginning to sound correct. I forget if this applies to real hardware but I imagine it does. At any rate the bug only occurs at the first boot and goes away if you...

Clicking and popping sounds in Minish Cap

I am getting popping and clicking sounds while playing Minish Cap randomly every few minutes or so. CPU turbo seems to be the workaround. I have the Wii U version and the sound works smoothly so I am assuming it's a core bug? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Using a Symbolic Link to Make Accessing ROM Set Easier From the Super Gameboy Core

I don't know what to do elese? It's the same procedure as for the games, like your first post, but with the saves it doesn't work. I've use Putty to get into the root of my MiSTer, but it's always doing this, like in the picture I#ve uploaded. So, nobody seems to have this problem, because no one else response to our posts. I can live with this is...

Re: Using a Symbolic Link to Make Accessing ROM Set Easier From the Super Gameboy Core

That's not the output of ls -l. I suspect that your link didn't take or you made some kind of typo which ls -l would reveal. I'm assuming you didn't SSL into your MiSTer so you can't copy and paste the output? Since you're on windows I'm not sure what the best app for it is so I can't be of help there. I personally tested symlinking saves/SGB point...

Re: Using a Symbolic Link to Make Accessing ROM Set Easier From the Super Gameboy Core

Oh you just forgot to empty SGB you silly goose! You can't have a symbolic link exist with the folder it's linking away from lol. It should recognize your GAMEBOY saves once you've backed up and emptied SGB and run ln -s /media/fat/saves/GAMEBOY/ /media/fat/saves/SGB

Re: Using a Symbolic Link to Make Accessing ROM Set Easier From the Super Gameboy Core

No problem, it really wasn't any work on my part. I just remembered that MiSTer runs on linux and it might be possible to make links and somehow it is!

I'm guessing SGB doesn't handle saves the same as GAMEBOY? I guess they should in theory handle saves the same. Does anyone know?

GunTneR 1.2 controller inputs don't work right

It seems that perhaps GunTneR 1.2 may not work right on the NES core. When I attempt to play it the controller mappings are all wrong and glitchy. I saw that some streamer was able to play the game fine so I'm not sure if the problem is with my setup or a new update. Is someone able to check if this game works? It seems like a lot of fun EDIT: Dis...

Final Fantasy Tactics seems to have garbled sound for me at the selection menu in the title screen. Is this a new bug? This is with default settings on the new build.

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

I tried a third generic brand cable without any luck and I'll attempt the bluerigger one next but the minimum length is 6ft. Should I worry about cable length? I feel like I'm running out of options but I still like what I have even if I'm stuck at 1350p my thing still handles PAL and 640x480 EDIT: to follow up, I noticed my screen develops vertica...

Re: Are SNAC adapters from AliExpress reliable?

Aliexpress electronics often require some kind of touch up of solder joints for the product to work properly. Other than that it should be fully functional. The Mister resellers tend to use low quality Chinese components themselves (typically sourced from LCSC or even Aliexpress itself), to increase profit margins. So you’re getting the same produ...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

I just got one of these screens and I apparently got unlucky with the amazon basics cable. I can only get resolutions under 1536p to work. I tried another one from a store and while it wasn't keeping sync it was holding a picture for longer on avg so I guess the odds are high that a good cable will make it work? I also noticed an issue where the vo...

Re: Super Gameboy Core Border Being Cropped by Overscan

It's normal overscan with a CRT. In fact the official Super Game Boy guidebook from Nintendo Power shows the same screen cutoff. The core developers don't want to change this as the aim of MiSTer is to replicate the original hardware's behavior.

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

How about a TI-83 core? A lot of people grew up with those calculators and there were a lot of fun games & apps written for it.
I see that there is a TI-99 computer core already written so perhaps a lot of the work is already done?

Are they supported at all? I got one to allow for memory card access through my SNAC adapter but I can't get other controllers/memcards working. I tried setting it to SNAC-port1 with the other controller and multitap setting disabled. I guess it's not implemented yet?

CD Player Starts Track #1 After 2 Seconds

I was trying to play a few CDs I own that I ripped to bin/cue format using the PSX CD player and I noticed track 1 starts 2 seconds late. Apparently the MegaCD core doesn't exhibit this behavior nor Vib-Ribbon when you select track 1 from within the game. I'd love for this to work properly since I noticed the visualization effects seem to work flaw...

video out of sync with vsync_adjust=0 with GBA2P core

When I have vsync_adjust=0 set I have an issue with the GBA2P core where I get screen tearing on both VGA and HDMI but this does't occur when this is set to 2. Is this supposed to happen and why would screen tearing also appear with the analog signal? Perhaps this is a bug? Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm still not sure how on earth you're symlinking on a filesystem that doesn't support soft links. Check this post out for more information https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=322 I can't seem to find much there other than symlinks work in MiSTer and I may have issues transferring to another device (links turn into text files?) so it's not a go...

Using a Symbolic Link to Make Accessing ROM Set Easier From the Super Gameboy Core

For the less tech savvy among us that haven't thought about using a symbolic link in order to reach their gameboy roms automatically instead of having to go up a directory to access the GAMEBOY folder each time when using the Super Gameboy core, here is a short guide for you: If you keep your Super Gameboy sfc files in your SGB folder transfer them...

I recommend lizard for NES which is a new release game with an expansive foreground and background map to explore. The game is completed by finishing any of the boss battles featured on the map with the aid of lizard suits your character wears to gain special abilities. You can also collect coins and hunt for secrets if you wish. The game costs som...
