Re: Atari Couchcade

So far based on the 12-in-1 product from GSR, its a USB to UART converter which allows the Spinner and Trackball to work over USB. At the moment, I cant find an off the shelf Arduino project which can help so I have ordered a couple of USB to UART adapters from Amazon UK and will wire things up later when they arrive. The buttons work fine of cours...

Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

I've had no luck with all the common arduino project out there that say they work with a spinner or track ball. Trackball is 4 pin (optical pickup) 5v GND something 1 something 2 Doesn't seem to be USB, tried with something 1 and 2 on the data bus both ways around. The Spinner is 6 pin (plastic wheel with holes in) 5v GND TX RX SE0 SE1 Now I tried ...

Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

So I bit the bullet and got a Couchcade from Santa to see if it scratches that arcade itch and I got to say it's been good fun. But the intention was always to see if I can hack into it and use it as a USB controller. Going to get a Pi Pico next and see if I can wire it all up, and get some code running. Here's the inside, the spinner is on the le...

Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

Just picked up the Atari Couchcade with Trackball and Spinner for £70 (Game UK).
Clearly the HDMI box is useless, so apart from the buttons which are just push to make switches, does anyone know what I can do with the spinner and Trackball which are stock in these?
Maybe a USB encoder which i can wire into the unit and hook all the controls up to?

Re: Daptor-2600 D9 with 2600 Paddles? [Solved]

Im currently using a SNAC with ADC and this core : Atari2600_SNAC_20200726.rbf

Does anyone know where someone in the UK can obtain one of the working adapters mentioned without shipping from the US?
Are these devices open source?

Re: New Atari CX30+ Paddle Controllers

I have tried.
Didnt work with USB Daemonbite adapter (3 in 1).
Didnt work with SNAC alone.
Worked with SNAC, 3.5mm Cable going to ADC... AND only with the specific core here : Atari2600_SNAC_20200726.rbf
The range of the paddle is weird and a little sensitive, but both work.

Re: Atari 2600 and Paddle Controller

I am raising this one again as the Atari2600+ was released and paddle options are not great for MiSTer, so I bought the £30 official ones with 4 games from Amazon UK. When they arrived and didnt work with my 3in1 Daemonbite, I got the SNAC adapter and 3.5mm cable to go to the ADC. Still didnt work until I used the correct OLDER 2600 Core with SNAC ...

Interesting to see so many posts on the SD RAM being a factor - It feels like AGES since I discovered this and took the plunge to buy new SDRAM to test it out in July. Radiant Silvergun - I get a Black Screen after SEGA Logo, soon after launching application from the CD Player screen. JAP 1.01 BIOS. JAP 1.02 BIOS (HI Saturn, Bios now boots with sou...

Yes, the next can render on the full screen, but rarely does.. So the option would still be great (toggle in menu)

Is there any chance the NEXT Core could implement such an option too? Who would need to do this?

Great job in showing people how to work things out guys. Too many people have unresolved issues online. I prefer things going to DM's when I have to ask the tough questions as I'd prefer the same doing for me. Back on topic, the latest core is very nice, usual praise etc. Amazing progress being made, although still plenty left to look forward to......

I didn't think it did, but just tried without the BT dongle. It failed. Just charges via USB C.
is there a latency test app somewhere to check on these things as I know some are okay and some are slower than a ZX80 updating the screen while typing.

Using the roms in this way commercially is illegal. The rights owners probably wont bother with an individual but running a commercial buisness is bound to draw attention.

Quite right too.

I should say that the ROM in this scenario, doesnt get SENT to it as it would be on the SD card, but there is no reason you couldnt have a file server with the games on there... I am sure it can be done.

The Recreated ZX Spectrum Keyboard works with the Spectrum core - but I am not sure it has been implemented in the Next Core.
Can anyone confirm progress on this one?

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

The new v3.0 SDRAM has solved the problem. It was the only change made to my config and now much more games work. For starters, When loading a CUE file... it now goes to the CD Player in the BIOS.... before it booted the game directly. OutRun now doesnt have any speckles/noise around the "NOW LOADING OUTRUN". So it is clear for me at leas...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I'm coming to the conclusion from watching plenty of YouTube videos and being an old hand with MiSTer, that the differences we are experiencing once we have some games loading and some not, is that we have different RAM module versions (as other hardware likely doesnt matter), or that the Mister INI settings we're all using are likely different and...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Very happy with the latest build. I am seeing more games booting and also more games advancing further to playability. Would be nice to auto switch the bios and region depending on the ISO sometime in future as I think this may be causing some compatibility issues for some. The main thing is that Sergey is safe and well of course.

Yeah, I can FTP to it without the HDMI output being on - but I cant figure out why no HDMI for any of the unstable builds for me.
