Re: MiSTerArch

Sure, it depends on how you installed it. pacman is fine too. pikaur is an AUR wrapper I have muscle memory for, it's also included in the full sd card image i provided.

If you update regularly you would avoid such issues.

All it takes is `pikaur -Syu` from time to time.

If you guys are into modeling synths, especially sound creation. You might want to look at faust. It's a DSP language specifically designed for audio synthesis. It can compile to a bunch of targets, one of them verilog. Here's a nice demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQMCDbAZJKs

Re: MiSTerArch

Quick question: Why do you use both tar and gz? I don't see a reason to use tar when it's only one file. Also, using zstd is a lot quicker, and still compress quite good. For both of those I was thinking about ease of use. What if the user is on an ancient ubuntu machine and needs to google how to unpack things. Honestly I have no idea how to unpa...

Re: MiSTerArch

I've gotten far too many requests for a prebuilt SD card, despite my insistance that this is something that's personal. So here we are, MiSTerArch.img , dd/installation instructions . This has been implemented using my ansible scripts. I guess I'll regenerate this image from time to time, but it doesn't have to be too frequent. After it's installed...

Some news: Packages have been freshened up (the goal here is to stay on top of this): mister-bin-20220413-1 mister-menu-20220413-1 The kernel has also been updated to mister's new changes (linux-mister-5.15-6). Xone driver has been enabled. Stuff like xow can be found on the AUR . I've also been experimenting with fresher kernels: https://github.co...

Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA

Hi! Has someone tried downclocking the ARM core? The best part of this is, for me, being able to keep my MiSTer cooler without a fan (I don't use any computers with fans, and my MiSTer is cooled with a good copper heatsink). Would downclocking affect CHD decompression on cores that use it like PSX, PC-Engine CD, etc? No, the clock for the ARM core...

Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA

I saw this and sort of laughed.. I mean it would have to be a reimplementation. Not like anyone expects to take the existing C code and just "recompile". MUNT_OPTIONS = -l # controls the quality of low-pass filters. I wonder about a hybrid implementation, maybe it doesn't have to all fit in the fpga, but if there's only something like a ...

Re: Case for MT32pi + Raspberry Pi 3B

GPIO extensions didn't work out, the MT32pi failed to respond after flashing the MT32pi logo Definitely the extension's problems, as removing it and connecting the MT32pi back to the Raspberry Pi solved the problem Realized I didn't need all the standoffs from the DE10 Nano either, so I have a better fit now... Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA

This is cool! What's your heatsink situation like? It would be nice to use it as inspiration for improving my cooling setup too. *Currently, this will rarely keep the CPU below the max clock speed you set because the MiSTer process keeps one core at 100% load, so I haven't included scripts to configure this. This worries me a little bit. In past ma...

Re: Standalone SNAC and RAM

Space savings are a noble goal. Aside from that, the other reason why I didn't want to get an IO board is the Saturn/PS1 cores: if they'll end up needing the extra RAM won't I have to remove the IO board anyways? In this case I'll be back to square one. Wouldn't those same pins be not be available because they go to the ram now? I don't think you c...

Re: Standalone SNAC and RAM

Based on your hesitance to look at the schematic (or parse what the RN does) I'd say you probably want to use a normal IO board instead. Those 100ohm series resistors are probably for signal integrity in order to minimize reflections (or perhaps to lower potential current leaks?). You're also missing the last pin, it's probably just GND, but in the...

This is a long shot and you might not want to go all in on this, but if VPN is a must for you it might be doable with MisterArch . I see lots of possible vpn modules in a variety of network managers. I've never used any one of them so i can't exactly confirm. In terms of wireguard you would definitelly need an extra kernel module, but i can arrange...

MiSTerArch does kinda look like a solution looking for a problem. Maybe. It's generally just a lot of tiny problems that I personally have and the solution wasn't too bad to implement. btrfs is still evolving a lot so maybe in some years it will be largely used and compete with ext4 or fat32 .... since one months a lot of things happen on core AO486 to support Linux + WindowsNT 4.0 New commits also will come for better support on IDE, etc... maybe it will worth to test it again your issue on Windows 95. At first I thought you would mean that you use NFS instead, but why do you need/prefer sshfs? SCP and SFTP already works and sshfs is essentially just SFTP at the end of the day, isn't it? Re: Support for Linux-side Interfaces [Feature Request]

This is a neat idea, but I assume it's a little bit clunky if you have to inject virtual keyboard input commands. Unfortunatelly without Sorgelig's support I don't see a better way.

Honestly even some command line arguments to Main_MiSTer (to choose the core and rom) would go far here.
