You're right - Alien Syndrome has scaling artifacts on vertical scrolling with these settings. But it does have a 15khz mode selectable in the game options, so can just use that instead!

I've tried all of the above on my Sony PVM and teleozoic's settings work best - no issues with scrolling or scaling that I've noticed so far. You have to remember to set the aspect ratio in the core settings to 'full screen' or else the picture is small and squashed! Thank you! That's it. Now I can get into the settings menu and change the difficulty level. It was set to the highest difficult which made it impossible for me to get through the first stage! Now I can make some progress.

Does anyone know what the SELECT key on MSX keyboards has been mapped to in Mister?
I want to use a cheat for Aleste 2 which involves holding down the SELECT key while loading disk A, but not sure which key this has been mapped on to. Thanks for any help!
