I think it'd be nice to have a thread for unstable releases.

Re: MiSTer Composite Warmer Colors Than Normal Console

It is just how it is with mister composite I think. My misteraddons and retrocastle yc active adapters through misteraddons 6.2 io board vga are all warmer than real hardware. Colors are closer to svideo it seems. Going through benfei hdmi vga is even more saturated for me.

Re: PWM on 18-bit DAC to get 24-bit Color

Thank you again for the update!

PSX_PWM_20240831.rbf update contains big MDEC update by paulb-nl et al. that fixes many 2d background and fmv issues.

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/PSX_MiSTer/issues/260

Looking at this comparison provided by Robert, MDEC accuracy is getting super close!

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

I wanted to test this for video playback. I was able to get groovymame working, then got mistercast working, then retroarch. I have to say in both mistercast and retroarch the image quality is really good once you enable PWM in the core options. There is still a bit of banding after that but it cleans up quite a bit. I threw up some SD anime and i...

Re: Mister Laggy: Any data regarding vsync_adjust?

LG C2 4:3 lag problem is still there with the latest firmware. lg42c2-lag-02.png I asked Wickerwaka about which box matters the most: center is probably the best, just for the sake of consistency, but they are all interesting. Top and bottom are the most useful measurements because they tell you how long before the TV starts displaying a frame and ...

Re: Mister Laggy: Any data regarding vsync_adjust?

I tested my LG 42C2 after updating firmware to 13.30.80. Numbers are top, middle, and bottom boxes. Middle number matters the most since most of actions are happening in the middle of the screen. lg42c2-lag.png Game Optimizer mode in HDR has extremely aggressive ABL so I also tested Filmmaker mode. Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Duckstation is really fun with mistercast. You can make ps1 looking like n64 by doing 9x internal render, downsample to 1x, and sent over to crt via groovy mistercast with 720x240p modeline. I still prefer raw ps1 pixels but I think it looks pretty good especially for mixed 2d/3d games like final fantasy, resident evil, etc. Polygon edges are smoot...

I have a 24-bit analog board (mezzanine AV board)
All of the console cores I have tested work.

The only arcade core I have found that works (I have not tried anywhere near all of them) is the Cave core available on discord. It is dated 20240703

Do you mean arcade cores besides cave are not showing 24bit images or not working entirely?

Thank you for posting them here. Huge huge thanks to Ruleset!

Discord has its advantages but yeah... it's horrid for retaining/maintaining information. So much of great technical info are wasted in there in disorganized and unsearchable state, wash away in sea of junk in minutes... I'm glad that Ruleset maintains PWM cores here.

[Sergiy Dvodnenko 2024-06-16 a8efd15] Rework main sdram to use only one chip for better compatibility with older sdram modules.

What a legend

Now I wonder if dual ram build is needed. Also read that 4chip rams might be working better also? Would be good if that's true.
