Re: Let’s Make Amiga CD32 Support Happen (Update: It Works!)

Cheers for the heads up!

zakk: if you have any expertise with main, could you add another OSD option to load an extended rom? CD32 has one I believe. Would be good to keep them separate and load correctly into mem, still allowing the A1000 roms to work correctly in the memory map.

Re: Let’s Make Amiga CD32 Support Happen (Update: It Works!)

I made a few attempts to add CDDA earlier this year. The IDE implementation in MiSTer is a bit different from MiST. I converted some of the MiST chips to MiSTer format, but due to time constraints, wasnt able to finish it off. Im not sure if the chip conversion is the correct way, or simply instead to add the CDDA parts from MiST into the MiSTer co...

Re: Magnavox Odyssey (1972) Core - The 1st console

I worked on the overlay for the Arcade Subs core, so overlays are possible I know.
Is there a link somewhere to the schematics for the 200 model? I think that one put the discrete logic into one chip.

Re: Discussion and Development of a 'MiSTer 2.0' Modular Hardware Platform

The various chips in the newer gen stuff from what we have adds more to the time and effort needed to get a decent core in place. Those projects will definitely take longer to develop, and a considerable time investment for core devs. A few of us are scraping the bottom regarding really obscure computer cores, and just finding technical docs on tho...

Re: Homelab KIT Computer Core in the Works

Homelab is now released in the MiSTer repo.

Flandango helped out to finish off the HTP support.

Please use the Readme as help on how to use this core, as it explains briefly how HTP file loading works.

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core

Most of the changes I made to the Oric core earlier this year were in attempts to get TAP loading supported through the OSD. It required a bit of conversion to Verilog from VHDL in order to simulate the core on Verilator. My initial approach to parse the TAP format and bypass traditional cassette loading methods was getting too complicated so I wen...

Re: Amstrad CPC Plus / GX4000 Core?

There is a custom Amstrad ASIC in the GX4000 with 100+ pins to wire up. It might be a bit of work to get that ASIC coded.

I havent seen any code on the internet for this ASIC in Verilog or VHDL. If there was, it would save quite a bit of time to complete a GX4000 core.

Homelab KIT Computer Core in the Works

I ported over the MiST Homelab core to MiSTer recently but need a bit of help. It is not easy to find exact documentation on how the HTP formats should be loaded correctly into RAM. Mostly, the correct RAM address, and also how much of the HTP header needs to be removed to get to the actual program data. Here is a link to the core if anyone is inte...

Colour Genie (EG2000) Computer Core Released

Thanks to AlanSWX for the conversion, and also Flandango for the CAS support via OSD. The Colour Genie was released in 1982. It was an attractive machine, with a solid full-stroke keyboard and 16K BASIC in ROM. As well as the 63-key typewriter keyboard and powerful BASIC, it featured the trusty Z-80, running at 2.2 MHz, 16k-32k of RAM, 3 channels o...

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core

I now have the oric core running with video in the simulator. one tap is loading fine into it, so i am now adding more logic to support more tap formats.

its much easier to work on this sort of logic once video is running in the simulator, so it shouldnt take long.

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core

Using the ioctl straight into a cache/ram is probably the quickest and easiest approach. The TAP format used in the Oric has a memory start and end address written, so its quite easy to read that, and store the bytes into the correct address. The 6522 VIA in the Oric is connected to the audio tape input, and recreates the bytes as the audio is fed ...

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core

I just managed to get the whole core to simulate, but some small bugs that are not showing the video in the simulator.

I dont imagine much longer before we can start testing the tap library properly

Re: Oric-1 / Atmos Core

I took on the task of adding tap support to this core. Progress is going good, but it requires simulation to make sure the taps are being put in ram correctly, and that the core is able to reboot into the correct location. We have one machine code tap working already, and the reworked logic for more taps is working in the simulator. Some parts of t...

Re: MiSTer PCXT

Loading the bios is quite simple: boot.rom would have an ioctl_index of 0, and is auto transmitted via the hps on boot. Hold the core in reset during its download. once download is complete, release the reset. it is also possible to debug the loading of the bios via the OSD. using a conf_str of "F1, rom, Load BIOS" it would be manually se...

Re: Next186 MiSTer Core Progress

Sorry, I cant answer that @macro, @spark2k06 probably can. I am starting to assume that the clock timings are the issue with this core. I can see similarities with these sensitive clocks when attempting to verilate on the PCXT core. Both of these cores have 5 clocks. I had read elsewhere that the cache megafunction in the Next186 is sensitive to ch...

Sure, I will be involved. Regarding the PCXT test branch: verilator is integrated but might have some issues to solve today. I am investigating. Therefore, anyone looking at the repo should be cautious on that branch and using verilator for the time being. I have forked the upstream, and am also investigating the possibility to reuse this core with...
