Re: MiSTer Games Menu - Launch Games from the MiSTer Menu
Question - How do you get rid of the games menu after running the script? I ran the script, toggled a few cores, played around with it, then decided to remove it for now. When I un-toggle all the cores and try to generate the menu, it just reboots and makes no changes. I can toggle and generate any combo of cores I want, but if I toggle none of th...

Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA
This is awesome! I still can't believe it got in. Thank you Coolbho3k for working so hard on this. It would be great to see a patch to the uartmode script which handles launching munt in the cores already. Then the overclock can be automatically enabled and disabled again as required. This may also be the right spot to experiment with nice if it en...

Re: MiSTer Extensions
A couple new bits to show off. LaunchSync has been up in my repo for a while now but I haven't really "announced" it anywhere. This is a script that uses special "sync" files to generate game playlists in the menu. They use search queries to match games on the target system, so they should be quite portable. They're also subscri...

Can confirm same behavior on a CRT with fb terminal enabled. Sorry but I can't be much help here because I don't own a CRT. I hope someone else can chime in. Do other script with a gui like update_all work for you? Wizzo - Just wanted to follow up on my earlier post. I ended up just swapping to to a different set of neo geo roms and it worked with...

Re: MiSTer Super Attract Mode (SAM) is now available - the first game screensaver for your MiSTer!
... It might not mean anything, but it seems to me the fact SAM can't detect BGM after a reboot,(which makes it try to run it again,) is what's giving us two songs at once. Hi. Can you please try the new release I put up on github for bgm. I'm not sure if it will fix this but I want to try rule something out. You think there is 2 instances of bgm ...

Re: MiSTer Favorites - Menu Shortcuts for Your Cores and Games
I just read that the 486 core allows you to mount multiple files from an MGL file and then issue a reset, which could also be a step in the right direction. It does work! I finally tried it <mistergamedescription> <rbf>_Computer/ao486</rbf> <file delay="1" type="s" index="2" path="IDE 0-0 BOOT-DOS98.vhd"/> <...

Re: MiSTer Favorites - Menu Shortcuts for Your Cores and Games
I have a Final Expansion (Alpha) cartridge for my VIC-20s. One thing with the VIC is that you have to select the right memory expansion banks per game, because video memory can get moved to another location. The other thing is that cartridges can use two 8K banks that are mapped to different memory blocks. These are loaded as two files. The way th...

Re: MiSTer Favorites - Menu Shortcuts for Your Cores and Games
I haven't tried this yet. It looks awesome. Is it possible to use this with ao486 and selecting different hard drives, CD's and or floppies? I would like to be able to just launch specific PC games that have their own hard drive and maybe an associated CD ISO right from the MiSTer menu. I think I can handle mounting the CD from the hard drive, so ...

Re: MiSTer Favorites - Menu Shortcuts for Your Cores and Games
Is there any way of using your script (or any other method you know of?) to create a favorites folder WITHIN a core rather than at the top level mister menu? For my own organization and display preferences, I'd love to only see favorites once I load the desired core. Is that even possible? I'm not sure it's possible. There's definitely no problem ...

I'm sure you could just do an arm image instead of the cross compiler but I tried to keep as close to the official docs as possible. https://gi...

I'm hijacking this thread to talk about my new project, since it basically evolved from the search scripts: https://github.com/wizzomafizzo/mrext This is MiSTer Extensions. It's a few new scripts I've written plus my old scripts in one place. While I always want the scripts to remain independent of each other, they had a lot of overlapping code I w...

I've made an update if anyone would like to give it a shot:

Some more readable documentation, a new -test flag and you no longer have to create folders yourself.

You can give my one a shot: https://github.com/wizzomafizzo/mrext/blob/main/releases/kernel/zImage_dtb I use the same dongle with a patch I found and compiled all the bt and wifi stuff into the kernel instead of using modules. Re: Scripts for 'new' or curated 'best of' game lists?
- At the moment scripts are completely individual, and need their own folders. Would it be possible to have a title for the script in the file, and this becomes the folder name, or subfolder name or something? That way you could copy paste several scripts at once into your _Folder on the menu, and each one would result in its own named subfolder/m...

Re: Scripts for 'new' or curated 'best of' game lists?
This works great, from my preliminary tests. I would suggest adding instructions on the github page, so that others can figure it out from there. I will post this to some reddit pages and forums and see if I can drill up some enthusiasm. It would be great for people to be able to curate their own 'best of' lists and share them using this. Awesome!...

Re: Scripts for 'new' or curated 'best of' game lists?
Alright, I've got a test version together now of a script to do this. Hopefully it makes sense. Step 1, download the app and put it in your Scripts folder. Step 2, download this sync file and place it in a menu folder on your mister. That is, one of the folders that starts with an underscore and shows in the main menu. I'd recommend creating a new ...

Re: Scripts for 'new' or curated 'best of' game lists?
I don't agree personally with adding thumbnails and all the other metadata that comes with programs like emulationstation, it's been pretty refreshing for me moving to mister and not feeling like I need to agonise anymore over the perfect game browser and fixing up the trash results for game scraping services. That said, I do think mister has a big...

Re: MiSTer Favorites - Menu Shortcuts for Your Cores and Games
Hey, having this same issue. (Thanks for the amazing script!) In the Neo Geo core, you don't select an individual file. You select a game by name. The romsets.xml file translates that into a folder name (e.g., <romset name="mslug" pcm="1" altname="Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001" publisher="Nazca" year="1...

Re: MiSTer Favorites - Menu Shortcuts for Your Cores and Games
how do i make manual mgl files for arcade games? I'm not sure that you can make an mgl file for an arcade core (mra file). The script uses symlinks straight to the mra to make this work. You also need to add a symlink to a certain folder in the link folder to make them work. Curious though why this doesn't work? notepad/np++ still adds garbage in ...

Re: Easy Way to Create Symlinks?
One question though. Regarding console games it seems that your script creates mgl-files only. As I‘d like to select games within the core menues I prefer symlinks here too. Is it possible like with arcade games? It is not possible sorry. It's something I could consider adding support for but would need some investigation. In my experience with tr...

Re: Easy Way to Create Symlinks?
While it doesn't create symlinks It does! It just a simple wrapper around doing this exact thing, making symlinks. Glad it's working well for you Only downside is that you can create one symlink at a time only, right? Selecting multiple game files in WinSCP for creating symlinks would be much more convenient. My script can't link files in bulk but...

Hi back :) Hi mate. This definitely looks like a problem with the line endings like cursedverses mentioned. If you have edited the script on windows before you popped it on your mister this is what will happen. Just to be clear, you shouldn't really ever have to edit the script itself, it does a pretty good job figuring things out itself. You shou...

What do you think about adding the favorites maker to this script? Search for a game and make it a favorite. I'm definitely doing this. A little update on this one. I've been working on a compiled version of these 2 scripts. The search one is still in progress but I've just got the random one to a state I'm happy with. You can test it here: https:...

Re: Power by Power Bank
It's definitely possible. I do this when I take mine to people's houses. I run a wifi and bt dongle off that and use SD card. I haven't measured the power usage but I suspect you could get a little more out of it before a single power bank port would cap out. My setup is a little different. I have attached a USB C port to my MiSTer and I run the po...
