Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
Oh my god. I feel so stupid. I didn't turn direct video off when using the HDMI>component converter. With direct video off it does seem to work.

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
No matter what settings I use with the HDMI to component converter the resolution always shows as 640x240. Maybe that's part of the problem with this thing.

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
Thanks. I'll try the custom video modelines. So far everything I have tried has not worked to get a stable image (outside of the menu core)
I'm not 100% sure what i/o board version will be coming. I chose the only amazon.ca seller that had next day shipping. The image shows v6.0 but who knows what will actually arrive.

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
I'll have to look into the sync on green mod a little deeper. I still haven't found a practical example of it in action. I'll have to do some more testing with the Portta component converter. It looks like it was going to be a slam dunk. I'll try some more settings tweaks and see if any core will work with it without the rolling flicker. I haven't ...

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
Even less luck with the HDMI -> VGA converter with the VGA -> component cable. Just a brief flash of the menu screen the first time I powered it up. Nothing after that. Slight screen flicker when the mister is turned on, but other than that, nothing. Not even a pink image. Tried the same settings as above and also with: ypbpr=1 ; set to 1 for YPbPr...

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
So after a little more ini tweaking I got the Portta HDMI -> Component converter to kind of work. The main boot menu works fine, but once you load a core the screen flickers and jitters like there's a sync problem. But the colors are fine and the main menu is solid. Here's the ini I used edited down to just the relevant video settings after looking...

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
These HDMI->VGA are likely to push out RGBHV, and those cables with VGA on one end and component on the other are mere breakout cables, they just route the color pins to the appropriate cables. Because HV sync is separate pins from the colors on VGA the breakout cable is just going to discard that sync. On mister's VGA port you can flip the SoG sw...

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
That's what I'm gathering. The wiki describes the mod, but I'm not really sure how to proceed with it. I can't find any examples of it being done in practice. I can get the parts and solder it, but I'm not sure how to... arrange it?

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)
Which component cable did you order? I ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZMV7RL2/ and this (as a comment in the reviews from someone specifically called out that it worked with the MiSTer....more people should do that!): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F3WVV99/ I am fairly certain this combo will work as I have seen many repo...

Re: Scale Filters - Possible to add more?
Thanks for putting this on my radar. I don't have a CRT anymore and no space to get one. Scanlines are great on the mister but there's still something missing. Hoping that the mister or OSSC pro can bring something like CRT royale. That would seem to be the final step in preservation, after all the games artworks were designed with the final medium...

Re: Upgrade AES stick or build new fight stick?
I wonder how different it is to a pinsim controller that uses a teensy based o MSF_fightstick xinput. https://github.com/Jerware/PinSim https://github.com/zlittell/MSF-XINPUT https://zlittell.com/fightstick/introduction-to-the-project/ This might actually be a good option for me right now since I already have the hardware on hand for the PinSim bui...

Re: Upgrade AES stick or build new fight stick?
Thanks for the links. Definitely would end up expensive importing.
DaemonBite is an option, but from what I understand there's no console compatibility, which the UFB has, so that's something to consider. Unless I'm wrong about that?

Re: Upgrade AES stick or build new fight stick?
Thanks everyone. I've decided to keep it stock. It didn't feel right modding it considering it's in really good shape otherwise. Now for the fight stick. I'd like to go with a UFB, but the availability in Canada seems poor. The official Brooks amazon stores in canada and the US don't even list it. What I have found might be a knock off. Not sure. h...

Upgrade AES stick or build new fight stick?
Way back when I got an AES with the stick but never got any games because the AES games were very expensive. Now I have a MiSTer and and 2600-dapter to use the stick with it, but now I realize that the Neo Geo AES stick is actually pretty bad. Mushy buttons and soft feeling stick. I'm really not enjoying using it. So now the question, should I refu...

Re: Sound Filters to Improve GBA Audio?
Well that would be awesome to get something like an MSU option to replace the entire sound track, but I'd just be happy with getting rid of a bit of hiss.

Sound Filters to Improve GBA Audio?
With the new audio filter feature would it be possible to try and improve the GBA audio a bit? For example I'm playing Mother 3 and the music is great but there is a persistent hum/buzz/hiss that exists on the actual hardware. The music files have been taken from the game and don't have the quality issue on their own, so it's just the way the GBA i...

Re: I think my DE10 is fried
New DE10 board arrived today and it works flawlessly with my existing SD card and daughterboards. Anyone know off Terrasic offers a warranty on bad DE10s? I got my DE10 from Mouser and had a similar problem, my HDMI output failed for no actual reason. I contacted both Mouser and Terasic. Terasic offered me the option to mail them the board for ins...

Re: Neo Geo CD pad to USB - how to connect?
http://www.2600-daptor.com/ I have the neogeo dapter from here that works with the AES stick. So far so good. Works on the Mister and on PC as an xinout device. I haven't been able to test input lag in any meaningful way, but from the feel of it it seems pretty tight.

Interesting. My TG16 hardware is non-functional for a long time (one of the reasons I got a mister to begin with) so I've never done a direct compare.

probably best to not go to that forum at all Yeah wow. I read through that whole thread and wish I hadn't, but I wanted to understand what the trap was. Posting a file that will basically brick your expensive NeoSD is pretty aggressive and childish. At any rate at least now we know where the rom came from and how they are getting the translation i...

Re: Scanlines and highlight protection
Just tested your modifications out and I think I like them a lot more. I was always wondering why I had to set the gamma so high to get a natural looking image otherwise highlights looked overblown. With your mod there's a lot more detail and I can use a more moderate gamma value. Well done. These should be included by default or entirely replace s...

Re: Working 1440p monitors?
@Phaedrus, can you let us know which cores you tested with vsync_adjust=2? Did you have to switch back to vsync_adjust=1 for any of them? Thanks! I tested genesis, snes, turbo grafx, gba, mega cd, neo geo, master system as those are the only ones I have any interest in. One thing I found for the LG monitor was that you have to turn off the adaptiv...

Yeah but what's your actual formatted capacity on that card? Noticeably cheaper because you're short 32gb. That's a whole other as card!

Re: Working 1440p monitors?
Thanks, I'll try to dig a bit deeper. The video mode parameters are all a bit greek to me so I didn't bother experimenting. When I saw that 1440p mode was a video mode option now I figured i'd give it a try.
