Re: My MiSTer Keeps Changing Its (Wired) IP Address All of a Sudden

Popped into the MiSTer Discord and just learned that if you do modify /etc/dhcpcd.conf to use clientid instead of duid, you can then copy the config to /media/fat/linux/ and the change will be retained during OS updates. One less thing to worry about.

Re: My MiSTer Keeps Changing Its (Wired) IP Address All of a Sudden

Mister indeed increases the last digit of it's IP address after a reset, eventhough I have configured my DHCP server to hand out the same one based on the MAC address. In my pfSense router, when I set the option 'Ignore Client Identifiers' for the DHCP server, Mister does take the IP address I configured for it. It indeed this seems to be a proble...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.

EDIT: had another look at the archive page, and the vhd is indeed sort of hidden - in the Download Options sidebar it's called "MPEG AUDIO", so choose this if you only want to download the vhd (but I recommend grabbing the fdd archive as well, many games are only available in this format). Or you can click on "Show All" and it'...

I've released a new update for the Tandy / PCjr collection (search archive.org for "tandy play it by year").

Thanks for the update, I just pulled it down but realized there's no .vhd like there has been previously. Was it forgotten?

One thing worth trying would be to create a symlink Cheats/Game Gear -> Cheats/SMS.

Yep, this is exactly what I did to address the issue (ran into it the other day myself). Works great for this scenario.

Re: Is There a Way to Select Which BIOS Loads for CD?

I thought you could just set this option --> https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/NeoGeo_MiSTer/blob/master/neogeo.sv#L285 in the menu and it will select the correct one? Yeah this seems to be the case for me, it just applies to both cartridge and CD games. I think OP is asking if there's a way to have cartridges load one 'type' of BIOS (Unibios) and a...

Re: How Are the BIOS Files Found?

Yeah that looks right. What I put together from this was that the three CD BIOS files (neocd.bin, top-sp1.bin, and uni-bioscd.rom) go in the NeoGeo-CD folder, the rest go in the NEOGEO folder. There's a fallback for 000-lo.lo so no need to have it in both folders. The update_all.sh script takes care of everything except for neocd.bin, which I had t...

Re: Neo Geo CPU Overclocking?

So the option if added will result in many people complaining the core has corrupt graphics, simply beacause they dont understand the overclock option. This is why its a bad idea. The PlayStation core handles this pretty gracefully, there are a set of advanced settings that you can change which clearly state they are unstable with a note in the OS...

Re: GunCon2 - hitting F10 does nothing

Yeah I had some issues figuring this out too, it's pretty unclear. Going from memory I think you have to have the GunCon selected as your input method in the core, and then while in the OSD for that core hit F10. Each core stores its own calibration settings.

I just checked this again on a few different displays and it looks like I don't see the purple tint anymore, but I know this WAS an issue for me in the past and I would have to use a different shadow mask to avoid it. Perhaps I changed something in my video settings since then, or whatever the issue was I'm no longer experiencing it. You're probabl...

That is definitely not how the default setup looks like. I’ll let others chime in on what might be the cause.

This is how mine looks too. I looked into why and it seems the provided preset/filter configurations use a copy of the 'MG Stripe (Magenta Green)' shadow mask which produces this tint. Is this intentional?

Re: Pink/Magenta on some (not all) shadow masks

Mine looks the same way. Taking a look into 'Presets/MegaAGS.txt' shows it's using 'Shadow_Masks/MegaAGS.txt', which itself appears to be a copy of the "MG Stripe (Magenta Green)" shadow mask. Applying that shadow mask directly also has this same tint. Seems this may be intentional, or a mistake considering limi's response to your initial...

That's a little surprising, and you've recently updated/are running the latest and greatest build? Where would I find these logs? On MiSTer? Or should ...

Re: AmigaVision/MegaAGS 2023.06.06 Released with Favorites & Analogue Pocket Support

I think I've at least started to understand some of the behavior here. With the Amiga MGLs everything seems to take effect, including preset_default= which is helpful since we can define the provided video preset INI directly through the config. With the [GameGear] section as an example this doesn't seem to work, but other settings like custom aspe...

+[Section] doesn't work with me either, unless I spell them out, as explained earlier. Figured it out, it doesn’t like the starting brackets (but is OK with the ending brackets, although dropping them also works). It also does require a new line for each entry. This is the cleanest version that works: [Amiga +Amiga500 +Amiga500HD +Amiga600HD] vide...

Are you seeing this layout work for MGL files? I've only see these take effect for CONF_STR strings and the special arcade designations. I use these sections heavily in my MiSTer configs and can't get them to work using the MGL file name nor the setname value, nor can I get the +[Section]-style designation to work (even with actual cores). The custom aspect ratio of 40:27 isn't available to the Amiga500.mgl for some reason. Works fine with the regular Amiga.mgl. The MiSTer.ini has the +[Amiga500] code included, so it should be in effect for the 500. What could be wrong as it doesn't seem to propagate to the 500? All the new files have been transferred to the relevant folders. EDIT: ...

Re: Does the Saturn video output support a component cable?

Depending on whether OP has updated recently, the ypbpr option was deprecated and merged into a new setting called vga_mode . In this case they'd want to specify vga_mode=ypbpr in their config (and make sure they're changing the correct config profile, if they use multiple): ;ypbpr=0 ; set to 1 for YPbPr on VGA output. (obsolete. see vga_mode) vga_...

Yes, that's correct. They don't have to match and often won't since modern, digital displays typically don't support the breadth of modes analog displays do.
