Thanks for this! I think it great to have multiple options and you have a good game list here.

Re: MiSTer Case Upgrade

Has anyone tried using unconventional materials like recycled cardboard or 3D printed bioplastics to create custom cases for their MiSTer setups? I'm curious about the feasibility and potential benefits of alternative case materials in terms of cost, sustainability, and customization options. Isn't it possible to determine those things without usi...

Re: Vectrex Core

asteroids is a prime example where really almost know one has seen the original I must disagree. I played the original Asteroids many times in the 80s at many different locations. So did many people that I grew up with, some that I'm still friends with today. With a Vectrex running a PiTrex cart or VecFever cart it's possible to play the Asteroids...

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

For convenience alone, I'd love talk of Mame on the Linux side, even if there are a few of us at the lonely table. While I now exclusively play arcade on Mister and Pocket, it would be nice to play some Golden Axe 2 or S.T.U.N. Runner while waiting for cores. :) Also ScummVM has been dreamy at said table. My last pi was a 3. Was going to get a 4 b...

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

My beef with them is the gatekeeping. For example, if homebrew gets a cartridge release, and some of us want a rom release, and we're more than happy to pay for it, we get told no, and then it all kicks off. And the cartridge releases are limited, so only those with large forum counts, or Youtube "Celeb", gets preferential treatment. Yea...

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

Because it would separate the emulation from the Mister Core topics, and I know I'm not alone in my love, and appreciation of modern emulation. It means if we need to bring up PC emulation, or Pi emulation, or whatever, then we can do without going off-topic. Those are good reasons. Personally, I've had some difficulty finding good forums for emul...

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

It's not a cult, or a religion. You don't need to sanitise the forum so it's only Mister posts. I think what I was describing was more about curated content, not sanitized. We could quite happily have an emulation forum, because a lot of people still use emulation. ... I would like to see a general emulation forum on here, it would be kind of refr...

^ I agree the video output could be improved.

The video output is very definitely pixelated. Even if vector effects like persistence and bloom weren't added, increasing the resolution would greatly improve the appearance.

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

It's been a long time since I've studied either site's intentions. I like the 'good rule' you post as well. Maybe a good crossover would be a thread on 'notable or interesting posts on AtariAge'? Then again, maybe just a poll of how many here are also on AtariAge for the purpose of such information? I've been too long on AtariAge that I don't even...

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

Doesn't AtariAge have a completely different goal than these MiSTer forums? I don't think this is a problem or confusing. If it's about real classic hardware and the games/software for those systems, I post on AtariAge or another hardware specific forum. If I want to talk/learn about MiSTer, the cores, software or features specific to MiSTer, I pos...

Re: Has anyone tried a 1TB MicroSD card in their MiSTer?

^ Agreed. For systems that the OS has to be on µSD, I learned a while back to use smaller µSD cards for the OS and store the data on large USB device. It saves an awful lot of headache.

which does not emulate but reproduces the hardware This is a misconception. Most of the MiSTer cores are not exact reproductions of the original hardware. A better way to describe FPGA is "hardware emulation" instead of the "software emulation" applications we use on Windows, Linux, and macOS. It's still emulation. There's some...

Re: Are You Going to Re-Configure Your MiSTer Setup for Dual RAM?

None as of now. PS1 was potentially going to use it, but Robert worked his magic and there is almost zero benefit in that core Saturn WIP core required dual RAM initially, and still has builds for it, unknown whether it will be required for the public release as the core is still fairly unstable The upcoming Midway Y-Unit core will require it: htt...

Which cores require dual RAM? I haven't seen a solid list so I haven't been able to decide whether it's worth the effort of changing my defacto "stack".

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

The original Macintosh LC might not be that far off and would get us old Macintosh games in color. 68020, no FPU, no MMU, looks like some very ordinary-looking graphics modes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_LC Yes, please. A solid, working classic Macintosh core would be very welcome. I know, we can emulate Mac in the Amiga core, but it w...

Re: Discussion and Development of a 'MiSTer 2.0' Modular Hardware Platform

The DE10-Nano is currently $225 Base price, is this conversation worth re-looking at? Because that's incredibly high compared to what it was originally, and it's not even an upgrade. Should we look for something better at the same price point, or something equivalent at a lower one? Is there actually anything better than a DE10-Nano at the same pr...
