Re: Commodore 128 for the MiSTer?

This is awesome! This may be asking too much, but is it possible to implement a dual monitor option.

LIke one display to HDMI and one to VGA connector on the I/O board ( user configurable ).

Re: Music not working properly for Turbo Out run with 8521 CIA

Hi there, Thanks, yes I am aware of the SID and sample issue on the original hardware, I have a number of C64C's. The issue is with the alternate CIA the 8521. When you switch to 8521 CIA the music does not work properly for either SID ( that is both the 6581 and the 8580 ). When you use the 6526 CIA the music is fine on both SID chips. This was an...

Music not working properly for Turbo Out run with 8521 CIA

On the current core 21-10-25 and a long way back ( for instance it also has the exact same behavior in the C64_20210617.rbf core ).

The music for Turbo Outrun is broken when using the 8521 CIA .

When you switch to 6526 CIA the music works properly.

I am having the same issue.

It appears the latest core [C64_20211020.rbf] is broken.

The previous core works just fine.

Re: IEC example circuit please

I've had a go at the circuit but the looking at signals coming out of the FPGA they are at all LOW with no activity on the bus, They need to be inverted to HIGH so they can be pulled down. ie HIGH being 0 and LOW being 1. Is there some trickery in the FPGA to be able to Invert them like the 7406? EDIT : Actually the signals are high, but when I acc...

IEC example circuit please

Has anyone implemented/tested the new IEC interface out to real hardware yet? I'm a bit confused as to how it would work? I've built one in my custom c64 core using separate Data (in/out) and Clock (in/out) lines like this https://ist.uwaterloo.ca/~schepers/MJK/serialbus.html But I don't know how to do it with the lines already combined. Is it simp...

Re: FLI pictures not working

I think the coding on that disk is just really bad. On my version of Vice I get a black screen as well.

However I noticed when prompted to press <space> if you press any <character key> once then <space> it works fine on both Vice and MiSTer.

Enjoy your pictures.

Re: Black Screen in C64 Core

Maybe try this as a last ditch effort. I've modified this a little so you don't have to set up the c64 core just install and run it without trying to configure anything. I've written this to a SD card myself and it expands and works perfectly. 1) FORMAT your "blank / spare" SD card with THIS https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ 2) ...

Re: A matter of Bits and Cartridges.

I don't think the original author of the core implemented hardware pull-up logic in any of the core. You'll probably have to invert those what should be normally high/active low signals coming from the core at your REU interface. The verilog code example was for a real cart to be plugged into a real c64. Keep the updates coming, it's really interes...

Some one wrote this REU as well, which may be of some use for example code . . . https://github.com/zeldin/super-reu There is also this document : http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/documents/chipdata/CSG8726TechRefDoc-1.0.zip The SuperSnapshot cart is also compatible with the REU and both could be used at the same time, I don't know of any oth...

I wouldn't thank me I did not get a chance to upload my code.

Sorgelig, I've tried the core and it does not appear to fix the issue (I think it's a little more broken).
Would you mind if I send you my changes for reference or are you happy doing your thing?

Re: Remap "Restore" Key or Cartridge Button Key?

Update: This should now work exactly the same as the current C64 release, but with the restore key and freeze key being separate across all carts. I'll leave it for a few days before I submit the changes. [run/stop] [restore] works normally and doesn't activate the freeze. Freeze is on [Control] [F1] this was chosen as it doesn't clash with any ot...

Re: 128MB SDRAM Troubleshoot

Some ideas, I’ve used both of these to clear shorts before. If you have a scope with a bright light try to look between the Pins It’s possible the short is behind the pins of the chip along the exposed traces. You could try adding more solder to those pins ( deliberately bridging them ) then wick it away. The intention being for it to flow a little...

Re: 128MB SDRAM Troubleshoot

Ignore the solder mask. It’s not the issue.

Get your multimeter out and test those pins.

They are 52, 53 and 54

52 and 54 are meant to be connected to each other.

53 is not meant to be connected to 52 or 54.

If you have a spare pcb you should be able to verify the
Ground pins. Also look at the data sheet.

Re: 128MB SDRAM Troubleshoot

If you’ve only visually inspected the pins, try mechanically testing them as well. I have found a very light push on each pin with fine tweezers will quickly identify which ones are not attached. The tolerance for the connector under the memory and the memory is very small on this board, so the chips may not have been sitting completely flat. Which...

Re: Multiple Consecutive Key Search for Cores and Images.

Depends on how it's used and implemented. I envision if you go to A then B you are just browsing and not hitting the keys so quickly. If you have 50+ A***** images in a directory it'll make a big difference getting to where you want to go. If you make it so that you have to hit two keys very quickly like when you type a name and it looks for AB****...

Multiple Consecutive Key Search for Cores and Images

Hi Sorgelig, I can't remember if this was mentioned before or if it has been implemented or dismissed. It would be nice to have more than one key press to search through the Cores and Images, Even if it was only the first two letters. For instance in a directory full of A***** files you can only get the first file. It'd be really convenient to look...
