Re: AIM65 Core Development

Hi there, great to see a new developer taking on older computers! If you are interested in getting your core added to the Main repo when it is ready for release then people can talk you through the steps.

Always great seeing obscure machines being preserved. :-)

Re: CD-I - Willing to Donate One to the Right Developer

I would say keep the faith on this coming one day. It's a 4th gen system rather than 5th gen, so simpler than PSX, Saturn, N64 and we have a cores for parts of it already. Maybe down the road when the remaining bigger doable consoles are done one of the big devs will decide to look at this one. :-)

I am new to the MiSTer. To install this you just download and install it on the root of your sd card, right?

Best place to put it would be in /media/fat/Other or make a new one /media/fat/Unstable

Keep in mind the core seems pretty broken, certainly over HDMI, but let us know how you get on.

Re: Let’s Make Amiga CD32 Support Happen (Update: It Works!)

I know Jason was trying to do this awhile back, and hit issues as apparently parts, including the i/o was hardcoded into the main c code. It sounded like the core would need a serious refactor before the MiST support could be ported over, or CDTV/CD32 support could be added. My understanding is it would need someone like Sorg to go back and do some...

Re: Neo Geo CD Core

Hey guys, can anyone please confirm what BIOS files are needed in the Neo Geo CD folder to have all the options available, and what each file actually does? I want to make sure the BIOS database has everything we would need in it so they are al grabbed by Update All and I'm confused on what is needed and what the files do.

Thanks!

Sord M5 now has ADC support, which is a nice little cherry on top of that core.

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

So that's the one year anniversary of me making the big list and starting this thread, and it's been quite the year of MiSTer cores. Over the past year I have periodically gone back and updated the original post with other systems, and updated ones that were released of their status changed, so if you liked reading through it before you might enjoy...

Re: Amstrad CPC Plus / GX4000 Core?

That's some great insight there, it would be really nice to get a CPC+/GX4000 core. With there being so many PC and older console cores now, this one is starting to look more and more like an omission. Some decent stuff on there.

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

As an aside, not all the pre-5th gen systems not on MiSTer yet are "failures". For example, before the Famicom was released the Epoch Cassette Vision dominated the Japanese market. That one only recently had it's games dumped (a difficult process due to chips being on the carts and not the console) that as yet nobody has emulated. There i...

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

I think we can safely say based what Robert has teased that he is not working on a GX4000, but this (or an Amstrad CPC+ with GX4000 support) would be a very nice core to get. With the MiSTer project supporting so many systems now, not supporting these Amstrads is looking increasingly like an omission rather than a nice to have. I have a GX4000, is ...

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

Still a lot of systems that would fit fine on the DE-10 Nano we don't have before we need to worry about a MiSTer successor. Only a few devs working on cores would even be able to make use of the extra hardware anyway, as the systems that won't fit are so complex Robert is one of the few who could even try take them on.

Microphone Support via ADC

Hey guys, something I have wondered about, that hasn't really been discussed, is if the ADC could be used as a microphone input in cores. You can use a microphone with the Analogue NT and got me curious. I plugged a mic into the MiSTer ADC port and tested with the ADC input tester and if you shout then it does pick it up (although did seem quite fa...

Re: Shadow Mask Support for Older Arcade Cores

Correct me if I am wrong, but shadowmask support is a feature in the framework, so as the arcade cores are currently all getting their .sys updated to support composite and s-video, they ones that don't currently support shadowmasks will receive that updated as well.

I really hoped it was a 3DO core but it seems Jaguar its the most certain one... heck we dont even have a NeoGeo CD core yet why?? Some computer cores would be great like a PC 98 or FM Towns Marty. My understanding is in theory, yes a 3D VB core could be made. However if I remember correctly Robert said he wasn't interested in the 3D aspect. But if a 2D core was made someone else could add 3D support. This is all very hypothetical though.

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

DS isn't doable on MiSTer, Robert already started a core and found the DE-10 not powerful enough to handle the 3D elements in games so abandoned it. DS would be one for whatever one day way in the future supersedes MiSTer with a more powerful board, if that ever happens. It isn't worth speculating about though.
