Re: 2x Integer Vertical Scaling in GBA2P

I finally experimented with this some more. Again, my goal was to get 2x integer scaling in 720p with the two screens arranged horizontally. Through trial and error, I found that this setting gets me the correct 2x vertical scale (320 pixel height): vscale_border=159 Why 159? No idea. Another strange thing: with the "Original" aspect rati...

Re: Split core into separete cores for SMS and GG

I confirmed that if I comment out my [SMS] ini section, my [GameGear] settings are correctly recognized. But as soon as I uncomment [SMS], then those settings override [GameGear].

This is frustrating. It's not how it's supposed to be working, right?

Re: Split core into separete cores for SMS and GG

This now seems to be pretty easily possible with the setname feature of .mgl files. I made a file called GameGear.mgl in my _console directory with the following contents: <mistergamedescription> <rbf>_console/sms</rbf> <setname>GameGear</setname> </mistergamedescription> And now I have GameGear as a seperate option in my console list and the abil...

Re: Neo Geo, .neo, .xml, and .zip files

I'm not using 7zip files (.7z). I'm using .zip files made with the program 7-Zip.

As I said, the MiSTer reads my .zip files just fine and runs the contained .neo files with no problem.

Neo Geo, .neo, .xml, and .zip files

I'm a complete Neo Geo newbie. I obtained the "@MiSTer Pack Add-on - NEOGEO 2020-05-12.zip" file from a certain archival site. I'm having trouble with the "2 HBMAME Alt Pack" subfolder. In the original download, this contains other zip files, such as "Demos and homebrews HBMame.zip". I have taken all of these and extra...

Re: Bandai WonderSwan Core Released

Yes, ShyTalk just mentioned the alternate ini files. But since changing between them resets the active core, it isn't useful when you need to change your custom vscale settings mid-game, like for games which have you rotate your WonderSwan during play.

Re: Bandai WonderSwan Core Released

Unfortunately I don't think there's a great solution for having separate custom horizontal and vertical vscale settings. The best I came up with is to have two lines in mister.ini, which you can manually switch between by commenting/uncommenting. For example: [WonderSwan] vscale_border=180 ; horizontal 5x ;vscale_border=92 ; vertical 4x This obviou...

Re: Bandai WonderSwan Core Released

The WonderSwan resolution is 224 x 144, the same vertical size as the GB/GBC and Game Gear, so they can all use the same vscale_border values for integer scaling. Using this formula , for 1080p they are: int. vscale_border 3x 324 4x 252 5x 180 6x 108 7x 36 Out of these, I find 5x is about the right size on a large screen. 4x is good too. Of course,...

Re: 2x Integer Vertical Scaling in GBA2P

I would like to play around with this further just out of curiosity. Is it possible to find the aspect ratio preset values used by the core (and other cores) somewhere in the GitHub? I poked around unsuccessfully but am not sure what to look for.

Re: 2x Integer Vertical Scaling in GBA2P

Oh cool, I wasn't aware of the screenshot function. That's super helpful. I decided to go back to basics and delete my custom vscale_border settings, just to see what the core does with its normal integer scaling menu settings (Aspect ratio: Original, Scale: V-Integer), because I noticed they also don't seem to work correctly. The results: Raw outp...

Re: Using a Symbolic Link to Make Accessing ROM Set Easier From the Super Gameboy Core

Thanks for this thread. I've got a bunch of symlinks set up now, which is great.

Is it safe to link from /saves/GBC to /saves/GAMEBOY/? I assume so, but I'm not sure if there would be any conflicts.

2x Integer Vertical Scaling in GBA2P

I'm trying to achieve 2x integer vertical scaling in 720p in the Game Boy Advance 2 Player core, with horizontal splitscreen. However, with no interpolation, I'm getting uneven pixels and shimmering scrolling, which shouldn't be happening. My relevant settings in mister.ini: vscale_mode=0 video_mode=0 [GBA2P] vscale_border=200 If my math is right, ...

Re: Incompatible Case Button Spacers & IO Board?

I do not think that ultimatemister sell button spacers. The case that I bought from them does not use such spacers. Instead it has a separate set of buttons on the top plate that are connected to the 5 pin header on the io board. I didn't realize, good to know. Have you considered manually trimming the height of the spacers that you have? Yes, was...

Incompatible Case Button Spacers & IO Board?

Hi everyone. I bought the digital IO board from ultimatemister.com and the acrylic case from misterfpga.co.uk . I mixed and matched sellers because I wanted the Noctua fan option for the IO board, and I thought the acrylic case was a nice balance of design and price. Unfortunately mixing these seems to have created a problem for me. The issue is th...

Re: DE10 Nano from Mouser, Anyone Got One Recently?

A couple of recent data points. I ordered one from Digi-Key on October 29, 2022 for $218.64. The original estimated ship date was in early December, but now it's January 7, 2023. Their current price has increased to $228.00. Also placed an order with Terasic on November 15, 2022. Estimated ship date was December 16 and still is according to the pro...

Re: Is the Noctua Fan Quiet? What Are Other Ways of Reducing Noise on MiSTer?

Good that you asked. I must apologize, I didn't do any research as to whether the 20mm fan will fit in the smaller MiSTer cases, nor apparently did I even consider that. I was assuming situations where there is room for a 20mm fan. My MiSTer is in a small computer case (Checkmate Mini). No worries, thanks for the reply. I decided to order the usua...

thisisamigaspeaking wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 3:56 pm There isn't just one fan you might use with the hole on the I/O boards, there are 10mm deep fans and 20mm. I'd suggest the 40x20mm, it moves a lot more air so you could run it at lower rpm than the 10mm one.
Do the 20mm deep fans fit okay into cases like the acrylic case from misterfpga.co.uk?
