Oh, I thought Sorgelig had stated the current way was because he didn't want too many SD writes way back when, my bad.

Re: Working versions of TOS
I think they all are, but be aware that the computer's refresh rate is tied to the OS, so you will need two TOS image: a 60hz, American one, and a 50hz, European one.

Automated saved on non system storage
Forgive me if this has been suggested or discussed before, but looking up "saves" is kind of tricky. I was wondering if it would be feasible to allow for saves or data write to be automatically done the moment they are done (instead of having to summon the MiSTer menu) when using an external storage like an HD, since the risk of corruptio...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer
I bought an RGB to composite adapter from Axunworks and it has been interesting, but I think I should test it further. The adapter worked only through VGA to VGA connection through the I/O board (using a VGA to SCART adapter didn't work at all). Only a few cores actually worked: the NES, SNES and PCE ones mainly. The Megadrive one didn't at all. Th...

Sounds like a very strange dongle to make sure the pad won't work with any USB hardware known to man.

Re: Recommended scaler settings to rotate vertical-only games? (re: 15 kHz arcade monitor)
The lack of reply should tell you something ;) Until recently, it was not a decent possibility. Now it's usable, and doesn't look too bad actually, but it comes with limitations. The basic setting for each game should be: ; Insert here [romset name as specified in the MRA] vga_scaler=1 video_mode=320,8,32,24,240,4,3,16,6048 vscale_mode=0 The last s...

Re: About azerty keyboard
I don't know the exact process or hardware specifications for Apple II and Oric (two platforms I have basically zero knowledge of), but it probably requires different from a simple keyboard layout switch. For instance, you need to insert the proper BASIC ROM into the MiSTer boot.rom ( see the read.me for reference ) to get AZERTY support on the CPC...

I use bright colours: most of the emulators had a tendancy to got for washed out colours for a long time, while the original Japanese Famicom I played on had distinctively very, very bright colours. I'm personally using one of Wavebeam's, which fits my souvenir on my current TV. And also using a "compositer" to make it all look jagged and...

Aw, I was stupid! I was using Python 2 instead of 3. Now your script works perfectly.
Sadly, I still got an IO Error on the two tapes I tried.

Re: Coco 2 + Mantra Alice + Dragon 32/64
I get a 0 byte file as output now. But something is probably wrong on my end from the very start: I always got syntax error on the print commands (which I deleted), and in this new script or the precedent one, I was getting TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'int' objects Previous one outputed properly sized c10 files though. The core works here on a 15khz pretty common CRT screen: I have set
and my vsync_mode is set to 0 as well.
Code: Select all
[AliceMC10]
vga_scaler=1
video_mode=320,8,32,24,240,4,3,16,6048

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers
I seem to have an issue now: I can't run anything but cartridges.
When I try to run my Seven Cities of Gold or MULE floppies, it either tells be to not use a custom OS, or to remove the cartridge in the cartridge slot (which there is none inserted, obviously), depending on the machine type.
Help :O

The procedure is the same whether you load a saved game or start a new one: - Wait for the title screen, press run button at the prompt; - Skip the intro sequence by holding the II button; - Start a new game (first option) or load a saved one (second option) at the menu; - Hold down the I button to skip time until an encounter happens; - Press I to...

Last Armageddon graphical glitch
Hello, I am experiencing a slight graphical glitch in Last Armageddon. After a fight, the borders of some of the coastline are changed to parts of the ideograms used to signal an encounter ("獲物がいたぜ!"). Here is a screen capture : IMG_2475.jpg I don't have a mean to test another dump, as I don't own the game anymore. If anybody can check it...

Wifi link (AC600) and Bluetooth dongle (8bitdo) conflict
Hello, not sure where to post this. I just got an AC600 TP link (rtl8812au based, I think?), and it wasn't working out of the box. I went through lot of tries, before I figured the problem was that the MiSTer was trying to connect using my USB to Bluetooth adapter from 8Bitdo instead of the Wifi one. Unplugging the BT dongle fixes it. I tried to sw...

Re: No longer saving controller buttons
This is a weird change that's been included in the MiSTer framework abuot a month ago.
You have to press the "A" button while in the core (not its menu) to activate and assign a controller to a player.
See viewtopic.php?f=30&t=716&p=5352 for reference.
I hope the change will be reverted.

Code: Select all
Content of boot.rom: C1541 + kernal + basic + func_low + func_high
Each part is 16KB.
You can load only part of whole ROM, for example only C1541+kernal (JiffyDOS).

Re: Has anybody tried C16 core on a 15Khz CRT?
It grabs the video frequency from the Kernal (which is why it defaults on PAL for many people I am guessing, as the boot.rom floating around use a PAL one).
Without the boot.rom the first time I tried to run it months ago, I'm pretty sure I experienced your issue akeley, but not anymore.

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?
I am going to try changing ROM extensions tomorrow. I think that is the culprit. I bet that changing the .md roms to .bin will correct this issue. We shall see. From the readme File name extension: BIN -> JP GEN -> US MD -> EU -___-; Anyway you shouldn't use this system, as rhester72 pointed out. So basically, there was no issue! Also C16 core doe...

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?
If the region priority is greyed out while using autodetect through ROM headers (it should be grayed out for the other options), something is definitely wrong, and that explains you experience issues. It might be worth reporting on github.
You might want a PAL compatible TV for the Commodore 64 though, as most games require it.

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?
I've tried fiddling around the core's setting trying to figure something, using Altered Beast mostly, but to no available. The only situation where it will default to EU here is if choose Auto region detection through file extension. It then will load almost every game at 50hz, for some (equally mysterious, if you ask me) reason. Disabling autodete...

I had no idea there were index tables and such. As a player, you take everything for granted, but it's funny to get glimpses of how the innards work.

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?
Those settings are not for direct video output either.
The detection is based on ROM headers. If the rom doesn't provide such info, the core can't make it up. Why it defaults to 50hz for some people and 60hz for others is a mystery though.
