Re: FM Towns Core

I don't know what an FM Towns even is, so I looked it up. It seems that there are many things that exist called FM Towns including PC's of various specs and consoles. What model is this core trying to replicate? It looks like a PC. What is unique about an FM Towns PC vs. a standard PC, besides possibly requiring Japanese (not sure if that is requi...

Grabulosaure's SparcStation core has SCSI hard drive and cdrom partially implemented. Not sure if it's helpful to you. https://github.com/Grabulosaure/ss
yes. I was also thinking about porting (stealing?) from the SS core for the SCSI HDD.
TOWNS CDROM is not SCSI connection (SCSI connection is possible, but booting is not possible).

Re: FM Towns Core

I tried to debug using a compatible BIOS whose source is open to the public, but it seems that the BIOS only considers booting from CD-ROM, so at this stage only FDD is implemented. Debugging in this BIOS seems too early. Please check. https://github.com/captainys/TOWNSROM Thanks for your advice. I analyzed the abnormal part using this Free BIOS a...

sorry. No progress at this time. It seems to work as far as reading the MS-DOS boot disk, but nothing is displayed from DOS. Since the TOWNS FDC is not the uPD765 series, it has been recreated from scratch, and it is still unknown whether there is something wrong with the operation of the FDC, or if a completely different peripheral is operating st...

Re: How to hit the HELP key or key to "left" of HELP key for MIDI support?

I don't think the official MiSTer port supports it yet, but the original puu version does support changing keycodes. Please change the setting from OSD. There is a mode for normal use with US104 keys and a mode for supplementing the shortfall. The HELP key is assigned to the lower right "MENU" key in US Alt mode. Please refer to the follo...

Re: PC98 Core

Unfortunately PC-98core does not yet support HDD. Because in the PC-98 of the 8086 CPU era, the HDD was SASI or SCSI, but there are many types of host adapters including third parties, and the SCSI on hand is made by a third party and only a limited number of people can obtain the BIOS for this. Also, I don't have a genuine NEC SASI / SCSI host ada...

Re: SparcStation Core

There is a bug in the initialization part of RTC. There is no "minute" setting in ts_rtc.vhd. Substitution to mem_i is required near line 246. Since the "minute" of the bit position of rtcinit is 13 down to 8, further digits need to be shifted by 8 bits. Also, when the "second" counter advances, cpt_ * will initialize ...

It is amazing!
I immediately went to my parents' house to bring the Solaris 8 installation disc.
By the way, is the "L-1" key mapped somewhere? I think that "L-1 + a" will be used in various situations such as installation.

Re: PC98 Core

Is the floppy code on the FPGA or ARM side? If it's on the ARM side, perhaps a software developer could take a look. Emulators generally support multiple formats and some of them are open-source. FDD code is on FPGA. The ARM side only inputs and outputs files, and the FPGA expands the .d88 image to the track image. The .d88 format is used because ...

Re: X68000 Beta - Updates and Releases

Unfortunately, this core cannot be switched to screen modes other than SVGA 800x600. It will be enlarged and displayed in this screen mode. That's because the original of this core was developed for the DE0-CV and the Analog VGA connector is for standard display devices. Since most VGA displays cannot display at 15kHz, they are enlarged and display...

To convert another format to D88 use vfic is useful.

Re: FM Towns Core

dshadoff wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 2:10 am MiSTer's HDMI will be OK with that.
There is an internal scaler which converts basically any video format into a HDMI-compatible format, so don't worry.
The original resolution modes (15k,24k,31k, etc.) will normally be sent through the I/O board's VGA output.
Thanks.

Re: FM Towns Core

Is MiSTer's HDMI circuitry okay with video formats other than the resolutions normally used for HDMI?
TOWNS uses various resolution modes such as horizontal 15k, 24k, and 31kHz, but will convert it to the corresponding resolution if the synchronization signal is input at the original timing? Or is it serialized and output only as it is like DVI?

Re: PC98 core

The addresses of screen 1 and screen 2 of the graphics screen overlapped by half. It takes time to upload, so if you are compiling from source, you can fix it by modifying the following. mem_addr_pkg_MiSTer.vhd (for DE0-CV people, mem_addr_pkg_DE0CV.vhd) Near the 16th line was: constant RAM_VRAMB :std_logic_vector(27 downto 0) :=x"0048000"...
