Sam Coupe - update Floppy Drive Controller IC? Should be 1772-02

@Sorgelig as you created the Sam Coupe Core for MiST and MiSTer: I've been lucky to obtain one of these computers, and the Floppy Drive Controller is the VL1772-02 or WD1772-02. Some websites incorrectly state the 1770-02 (this has slower step rates). The Core on MiSTer and MiST currently uses the WD1793. For (maybe just historical) accuracy could ...

Re: Amstrad Core

If your going to try tape, you must try the tape demo 'Breaking Baud'. It basically streams the demo from tape!!!

Very impressive to watch on real hardware, but still impressive to see on MiSTer when you understand what is happening.

Re: Any new info on Gun2CRT

Ok, so a search show that the Gun2CRT project owner is also the person who does GUN4IR, so you could try asking him directly here:

https://www.gun4ir.com/

Flat tube CRTs should be fine as long as there are not the 100Hz models (or maybe 120Hz if your NTSC region).

Thanks for update ZIP, I updated my installs last night.
I also edited the version .txt file (can't remember actual file name) so it says 2023.07.17 on the menu.

@seastalker - thanks for the memory jog. Do you know of any sites where you can browse the Doomsday project? The BBC one closed and the National Archives(?) one does not work. I want to read and see the pics my local school had on there. I remember finding a machine in the school's library, me and some friends were 'browsing' the information, we we...

Re: ZX Spectrum Recreated Would Work as Bluetooth Keyboard With MiSTer?

Another option is to use a real Spectrum and convert it to USB: https://hackaday.io/project/2076/instructions I did this years ago when I was given a broken Spectrum. I used it with a Raspberry Pi and Spectrum emulator. There is also a switch to toggle Keymaps. After some time I decided to relook at the Spectrum and managed it fix it (ram chip fail...

I think I got my .cas files from World of Dragon when I was using a CASDuino with my (now gone) Dragon.
I basically download .cas of all the physical tapes I had.
I've not played about with this Core much.

@slypty I am trying this game currently on real hardware and Chourensha 68K (which I think is this game) does have big black borders either side.
What does Ghouls and Ghosts look like?

I am using a Commodore 1942 monitor bi-sync crt.

Re: Atari Jaguar Daemonbite Adapter

I think the answer to your question is yes. So I type in a different name, so I have now Daemonbite (Jaguar) etc and my leonardo.build.pid=0x8037 Is now on 0x8041 because I've made a number of different Daemonbites. I completely forgot about changing the name and when I programmed the Pro Micro for Jaguar it was detected as Daemonbite (SNES) which ...

Re: MegaAGS Games and Just a Gamepad

^ I think they mean in the game they select. Not to start the game within MegaAGS. Worse case you could use one of those USB joystick using a ProMicro. I've used them on Raspberry Pi based arcades and I mapped 'button presses' to keyboard inputs. So for example Left = A. So you would just map Keyboard keys to the button inputs. Could have a dedicat...

CD audio now in Minimig on MiST

Hi, The Minimig Core on the MiST recently gained CD audio support (CD support was only recently added without CD audio streaming) and people have been testing CD32 games via the IDEFix 97 CD32 Emu program. Different FPGA's used I know, but maybe the MiST code will help to port this feature to MiSTer? https://github.com/mist-devel/mist-binaries/tree...

That Donkey Kong Jr screenshot looks mint! Regarding the question about if other G&W have been dumped, there was a MAME article in Retro Gamer mag some months back and there was a G&W MAME subsection. Seems like many G&W have been dumped and hi res scans done. Would also love to see the dual screens. Zelda has a lot of depth for a G&...

I need to spend some more time testing this with both connected to the TV Composite phono and to a phono soldered to the back of MiSTer VGA-SCART lead. Re: General thoughts on GunCon2 vs SNAC with original light gun

That adaptor should work fine (I've been trying to find mine!). Not sure of your locations, but many UK SCART TVs also have a phono for composite (and audio), I plugged my GunCon 2 into that and used my VGA-SCART cable in the back of the TV. This is on PSX Core with Direct Video. I have not done extensive testing but i could hit the bad guys in Tim...

Re: GunCon 2 connector with RGB

Hi, Sorry I meant that with an original PS setup when using scart the phono on the GunCon is plugged into the Composite signal for the Sync (as composite has the video and sync all wrapped in together). So the same should be fine for the VGA. Just need to tap into the Sync or like I say, just try plugging the phono into the TVs composite. I've got ...

Hi. I always ran my PS1 and PS2 on RGB scart CRTs. The GunCon 1 and 2 connector would plug into a composite phono on my PlayStation scart lead. However I was thinking i recently plugged the GunCon phono into the front of my TV in the Composite phono rather than via the scart lead. The TV should connect this internally anyway. So what am I saying. A...

Hi Frank, You can use physical buttons on the Pi hat to control volume. I personally thought Volume + & - was more useful than Synth & ROM so that is what I have on my self made MiSTer pi hat. If you bought a ready made solution I expect you can hack on some buttons on or re-wire the existing buttons to Volume. I cant remember, but I expect...

1680x1050 - Shadow Mask settings?

Hi,
The monitor I usually have my MiSTer plugged into, is 1680x1050.
Anyone else use this resolution with Shadow Masks and have some settings/config to share?

The monitor also does 1920x1080 via HDMI but I think the panel only goes up to 1050p so it probably scales internally.
I would like to get an image correctly scaled to the panel.

Thanks
