Anyone ever tried a Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback stick with AO486? Or maybe even the Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro on with a db15 to usb adapter?

I can try that.

I have a Sidewinder Force Feedback with USB plug.

Any recommended game I can use for the test?

Cheers.

Re: MT32-Pi: Glitchy upon loading certain DOS games until Soundblaster FX kick in

Hi,

Did you progress on your troubleshooting attempt?

Where are you getting the MT32-pi sound coming from? The MT32-pi jack, or loopback through the MiSTer?

Re: Real Floppy Disk Drive for MiSTer FPGA Current Progress

This last update from Rob is really cool and it shows how close we are to having a working device. Was also very excited to learn that a regular PC floppy drive can be used to read/write both PC and Amiga disks without any additional hardware (besides the board that Rob has created). I had concerns about how the floppy drive would be powered, but R...

Re: MiSTress1200 and MT32-Pi Configuration Problems

I'm having the same issue right now. Were you able to fix it? Unfortunately, I was not able to fix the issue yet - holidays and other live topics got in the way. I have contacted 8bits, the seller of the MiSTress, and after some back and forth with troubleshooting and ensuring my jumpers where all in the right place, they told me that maybe my boa...

MiSTress1200 and MT32-Pi Configuration Problems

Hi, I have just bought an MT32-Pi (from Ultimate Mister) and I'm having some trouble configuring it with my MiSter (using a Mistress 1200 board). Basically the issue is that the MiSTer does not seem to be able to detect the MT32-pi (the MiSTer logo does not show during the MT32-pi boot and the MT32-pi menu option is not showing on the MiSTer menu)....

Re: MiSTress - Conversion Kit for Amiga cases

We've done a backplate for the new MiSTress 600. We will do the same for the 1200. The STL file will be freely available once is done. It's unlikely we sell this part separately but it will be included as standard with the 1200 kit (once done, of course). The problem with the fan is that there is no clearence for a bigger fan. For the 600 we've de...

Re: Real Floppy and AO486

Remember that all floppies are wearing out, so running from them means you're gradually wrecking them, and there aren't new ones being made. My suggestion would be to use DD in Linux to copy each of your original floppies to an image file, run from the images, and carefully preserve the originals. That puts the least wear possible on a limited res...

Re: Real Floppy and AO486

Yeah, Don't get me wrong, I was excited to see it do "something" with my disks. you can interact with the disk, you can run dir, as soon as you start copying files or run programs it will get to a certain point and just sit there forever with the drive clicking away. I had to reboot the core to get it back. These are known good floppies....

Re: MiSTer PCXT

I'm glad you like the core. Right now it's not a priority, there's a long way to go before that, like not relying on serdrive at all. However, even if it is possible to do what you are proposing, I think there would be limitations. USB floppy drives are not exactly the same as the original ones with controller, in the sense that (it seems to me) t...

Re: MiSTer PCXT

I have asked a similar question on the AO486 core, but since this core is being actively developed, here it goes: Is it possible to connect a USB floppy drive to the MiSTer and use it within the core? If not, is it somewhere on the roadmap? Asking because floppies do play a big role on my nostalgia, despite being an unreliable media at best. In any...

Re: Real Floppy and AO486

It is possible but it doesn't work right. mounts fine, reads the floppy disk but when you read from it something weird happens like it runs out of a buffer somewhere and just stalls when copying. Caldors steps are correct but it has been more than a year since I did it. Create an empty USB_FLOPPY.img file, symlink the read drive into it, then moun...

Re: Microcomputer Cores Feature Wishlist

Assuming the ADF reader on Minimig is already operating like a Floppy drive, redirecting the I/O will hopefully not be too much work (this coming from someone that does not know how to develop a FPGA core, it just makes sense to me).

Anyway, hopefully one of the devs will take an interest and implement this.

Thanks for sharing the video.

Re: PC 386 and 286 Core Setup Ideas

Assuming this monochrome add-on is working well, is there a reason why it could not be integrated into the main ao486 core? It's not like it branches out in a completely different direction, it just gives users one more option. I for one, would love to have it in the main core as I have played many MS-DOS games either on an Amber or Black&White...

Re: Microcomputer Cores Feature Wishlist

For the Amiga core, It would be nice to have an interface to support reading from real Floppy disks (preferably USB). Unfortunately, this may be more an issue of creating the right hardware interface rather than modifying the core, so not sure if it fits this thread. In any way, support for more advanced/faster processors is still something the Min...

Re: MiSTer System Filter Rounded Corners

This thought crossed my mind a few times as well... just having a fading effect in the corners would go a long way helping with the CRT feeling.

I don't think we need full screen distortion, especially as most of these effect just look bad, but having rounded corners would be neat.

Hi,

Just got one of these... makes the MiSTer look even cooler :) thanks for the hard work guys!

I have a quick question (two in fact :)):
- Is it possible to choose to the transition effect I want to use (instead of the random one that comes by default)? How can it be done?

Thanks in advance

ZX Spectrum Core - Reading Games from Tape

Hi all, As I am waiting for a tape recorder to add to my MiSTer setup, in order to be able to run ZX Spectrum games from cassete, I have tried to load games from my iPhone directly to test the feature. By trying this, I have faced a weird behavior that I am not sure if it is the fault of the MiSTer, the ZX Core or the iPhone. Problem is as follows:...

Re: Personally feeling to wait longer before choosing new hardware

In projects like this, waiting is pointless. Tinkering is what makes it interesting. The only time development will stop is after the next big thing is out and everybody has moved on. And by that time you'll want the new toy, not the MiSTer. Just jump into the pool and have fun with the rest of us. This is all about the journey, not the end result.
