I bought a HORI Fighting Commander OCTA, which maps pretty well to the Nintendo 64 controller:

Thank you for the explanation, Amiga HDs are indeed a somewhat complicated topic.
However, I did make this guide specifically for MiSTer, and I *can* verify that it works, at least in this simple case.

Beginner's Guide to Creating Amiga WB1.3 Hard Disk File (HDF)

I wanted to make a custom HDF file with a particular version of SimCity, and ended up writing a little step-by-step guide for creating a new Workbench 1.3 HDF using WinUAE:

Re: MiSTer Game Videos on YouTube

Hi, I was wondering what .ini/core settings you're using for capture? I get occasional drops from my capture for a few different cores, the PSX beta core seems to drop a lot during boot for me. For Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHmcd7fjdHc Thanks, keep up the nice work - just subbed to your YT, btw! I'm sorry, I missed your reply. I can...

Re: Commodore 1084 emulation using shadow masks and scanlines

I took a macro photo of the display of my 1084 and it has a slot mask pattern (also referred to as JVC in the shadow mask patterns). Thank you, this is fantastic, better than I hoped for! I will test out some of the JVC masks to see how close they get. My nano/subpixelslot pattern, seen above, comes pretty close on a sub pixel level. This is a mac...

Re: Classic Synth Cores?

I dream about open source implementations of classic digital synthesizers and samplers. We already have near perfect emulation of a bunch of synth chips in the consoles and arcade machines, including the type of Yamaha FM chip that is used in the DX-7, so it doesn't seem completely far fetched. The MAME team have worked on a few of them, but most d...

Re: MiSTer game videos on YouTube

Try 720p output on both ends (mister.ini and the capture input) or 720p --> 1440p capture to mitigate the shimmering of dithered parts like at the top and bottom of your Street Fighter Alpha 2 video. I've messed around with it before, and I saw decent results awhile ago, I need to revisit that and find a good setting. I use a USB Magewell HDMI Gen...

I've tried recording stuff in 50FPS, but it caused issues, so I mostly stick to 60FPS for now. The recording i...

There are thousands of DOS games, but back in the day (I ran DOS for gaming back in the 90s) the only real options I ever had to deal with were: * a config with XMS via himem.sys and no EMS * a config with XMS and EMS via EMM386 * a config with no memory management for maybe 0.1% of software that used its own memory manager and could don't coexist...

if it will ease the way you start the games, this manner to proceed will end to something too close to the console and not a computer use like it was back in the day. Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head, kathleen. I think I *do* want a DOS console, even though that sounds so wrong! :) I have researched tools for creating the bootable VHDs, ...
