Re: Alternate Colours for OSD?

I would also love for this to be an option. Either straight black and white or the ability to define hex (or rgb or whatever) values for menu colors in the mister.ini

Re: Custom Audio Filters

Download LPF20000.txt, LPF2000_2tap.txt, LPF2000_3tap.txt from https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer and put into filters_audio directory. I supose more filters will be available in the future. Interesting. In digital filter design, are "taps" in any way related to "poles" in analog filter de...

Re: Gamma correction over VGA

Can the gamma be changed to work like the filters? You could possibly recreate a limited subset of filter functionality in a gamma LUT. They tend to be rather different beasts, however. (And in reverse, a gamma LUT can have more granularity than could be reproduced with a filter, due to the phase c...

Gamma correction over VGA

When I use VGA output with my MiSTer, either with a direct video dongle or using the I/O board's VGA output, the filters are disabled but the gamma correction setting is not. Can the gamma be changed to work like the filters? It's useful for example to be able to have the raw 240p image sent to a PV...

Re: In-line power switch

Can someone give an explanation of how to test for the voltage drop with a multimeter? I'm not sure where to put the leads. What I did was plug in just the power brick without the switch attached, then set my multimeter to read DC voltage in the 20v range (yours might be slightly different). Then, ...

Re: What makes new games different to old?

I would recommend watching the first few RGB Masterclass videos from the youtube channel My Life In Gaming. It's been a few years since I watched em but I think I remember them explaining things pretty well. Anyway the gist of it as I understand it is that modern TVs can basically only display one r...

Re: In-line power switch

Took one for the team and ordered the one Threepwood linked to. I can confirm that there's no issues with these. I tested it with my multimeter and there's no voltage drop or any other oddities. I don't like throwing good money after bad, even if it is just a couple of bucks, so for other people lik...

In-line power switch

Hi guys. Can anyone recommend a good, preferably US-based seller for an in-line power switch for MiSTer? I had read about voltage drop issues with some units in the past, and I'd like to make sure that I'm purchasing one that isn't going to give me any trouble. Thanks

PCE Mini controller issues with menu hotkey combo [Solved]

Hi guys. I just got a PC Engine Mini USB controller in the mail today, which I ordered specifically for use with a MiSTer. The OS detects it fine and it works great for all cores that only use 2 face buttons, except that I can't map a menu hotkey combo that works correctly. The first combo that I tr...

Re: 3DO

Bought one in the past few weeks and now replacing caps in the hope it will properly read discs and not blast noise out of the left channel. Not to get too off topic, but see if the laser in your 3DO has any calibration pots. I bought a broken Sega CD years back for practically nothing and the main...

Re: 3DO

The version of Gex on the 3DO is tops. I grew up with the PlayStation version, but picked up a 3DO a few years ago and the ability to save your game in that version is so much more convenient. I too would love a 3DO MiSTer core, but from what I've read most people with the skills to implement one do...

Re: Distorted sound in game drop.off

I can confirm this. Just compared it to my real TG16 with a Turbo Everdrive. Same exact rom file as I used on my MiSTer, and the sound is totally different. Maybe you should post it as an issue on GitHub to make sure the devs are aware of this

Re: Upgrading SD cards

I got a MiSTer setup for my brother for his birthday last week and before I gave it to him I just ran the initial installer to format his SD card correctly, then just straight up copy-pasted everything in the root of my fat partition over to his card. I play-tested a few things and ran the update sc...

Best multitap games on MiSTer?

What are your favorite multitap/>2 player games that currently work on the MiSTer? Been thinking lately about what a great all-in-one the MiSTer would be for get-togethers with friends and stuff after this quarantine business is over. Bomberman and NBA Jam seem like obvious choices, but I'm sure the...

Re: MSX Core - RGBS output - Yellow - OSD too

Everything still looks correct on my PVM-14M4U using direct video with an HDMI to VGA adapter. Not sure what could be causing your issue. On a side note, the image in the thread on GitHub you posted looks just like the amber-only monitor that came with a commodore 64 I bought used from somebody year...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

I've had similar issues with cores booting in PAL using a VGA to RGB cable into my PVM. (My particular PVM has a problem displaying PAL, its on my to-do list to fix it.) How I've gotten around this is by booting the core on an HDTV over HDMI using the scaler and an alt ini, setting the video mode in...

Correct. I have 3 different HDMI to VGA adapters for different projects and they all work perfectly fine with the MiSTer when plugged straight in without external power

Re: Final Fantasy III - 128MB SDRAM Issue

I think it’s not so much about power draw, but about poor electrical buffering on the DE-10 Nano’s HDMI port. I can confirm that the HDMI port definitely has issues regarding 5v. I'm using a Moread HDMI to VGA adapter for direct_video output which includes a micro USB port for optionally powering i...

This is what I'm currently using. I cropped it to a 14:9 aspect ratio so it doesn't look super distorted in either 4:3 or 16:9
