Re: Trouble with svideo output

Are you using an analog I/O board? If so, try setting the jumper on the board to output 5v over VGA. You shouldn't need to mess with any external power after that and it should just work

Re: Best Settings for NEC XM-29 plus via RGB

That monitor should be able to handle 240p. Since that's the case, you should set forced_scandoubler to 0 to have everything run in its native resolution. The scandoubler doubles the resolution of 240p games to 480p for monitors that can't handle low resolutions, getting rid of the proper black scanlines in the process

Using the numlock for its intended purpose

I started a playthrough of Snatcher on the MSX recently, and certain parts of the game require using the number keys on the numpad (not row of numbers above the letter keys). The problem is the numlock key seems to be hard coded to changing the keyboard mode for joystick emulation and stuff. Is there any way around this? I'd also be happy with rema...

Re: 31kHz games?

Ironically enough though, AO486 doesn't natively output proper resolutions over VGA and has to run through the scaler, resulting in some sketchy image quality on a real VGA CRT. I dug up my old 17" monitor to play Indiana Jones a few months ago and was bummed out by the results. I gave up and just played it over HDMI with some nice filters

240p Test Suite released for Saturn

An extremely preliminary (v0.1) version of the 240p Test Suite has recently been ported over to the Saturn by a user over on SegaXtreme who goes by hitomi2500. Link to download Article about it from RetroRGB It's a little rough around the edges, but it seems to work fine on the latest stable and unstable Saturn cores for MiSTer, assuming you set yo...

Re: 8bitdo M30 Xbox edition - wired Saturn-style USB controller with extra shoulder buttons

Aren't these 8bitdo Xbox specific controllers locked to only working with Microsoft devices? I thought Xbox controllers were a pretty popular option for MiSTer. I don't think this uses a different protocol or anything, so I assume it would have the same compatibility? Also you technically do not have more buttons than the regular M30 in total as t...

8bitdo M30 Xbox edition - wired Saturn-style USB controller with extra shoulder buttons

https://www.8bitdo.com/m30-wired-controller-xbox/ Anyone try one of these things out with MiSTer yet? The original M30 is a modern classic IMHO, so I'm curious to hear how this new one stacks up. Both in terms of latency and stuff of course, but also in terms of ergonomics with those new shoulder buttons they added in. Seems like they released this...

Re: Truxton Arcade Not Working Anymore?

I just happened to boot this one up for the first time in a while last night. If your VSync setting in your ini file is set to 2, and the Truxton core is set to play at the game's original refresh rate, your TV might not be able to display the signal. Temporarily set vsync_adjust to 0 in your ini file and on an HDTV boot into the Truxton core and s...

There's also a test version with MSX 2 support on github that you have to install manually for now. Where on github? I've been meaning to check this out, but all I can find on there is the rbf of the stable release from November Edit: Nevermind, found it. Here's the link for anyone else who sucks at navigating GitHub on mobile like I do lol: https...

Dual RAM switch for analog IO board?

I understand that there is not enough bandwidth/GPIO pins to have both a second RAM chip and VGA output at the same time, but how hard would it be to create a board with a physical switch that either patches those pins to the second RAM chip, or the VGA output, depending on which way it's flipped? If it's not too hard to implement, I think this cou...

Re: Gradius II Japan Not Booting? [Solved]

I found a solution. I had to install older release of the core. The games crash on the newest release (20230223) but they work perfectly on the older one (20221002). Great idea. Everything works fine with that older version for me too. I put that RBF in a separate folder so update_all won't touch it I have reported it on github, hopefully it can b...

The merman area at the beginning of SotN turns yellow for some reason. For someone who has never played a Saturn games (and this one in particular): what is a "merman area" and where is it located? :) I think he's talking about the area starting at about 7 mins 30 secs into this video: https://youtu.be/xX2KObZJoqU And I'd also just like ...

Now that I'm thinking about it, there was one other strange thing I noticed. I checked the dip switches and they all look correct (I usually have an analog I/O board installed so those other 4 switches are correct as well): 0316231431_HDR.jpg The MemTest only checks the SDRAM add-on, and I've pretty much ruled that out as the culprit, since my RAM board ran Gradius II without incident when it was inserted into my brother's ...

Re: Gradius II Japan Not Booting? [Solved]

So I was able to borrow my brother's MiSTer to run some tests, and believe it or not, as far as I can tell, it's my DE10-Nano itself! I swapped RAM, Add-on boards, SD cards etc and kept eliminating variables until I was down to just 2 bare DE10-Nanos. No matter which RAM module I put in, my brother's board ran the game, and mine wouldn't. :?: :!: W...

Re: MIDI-In Support on the C64 Core?

I just tried a few different versions of the ROM (including the 2.0 RC4 from CSDB) and unfortunately I can't get it to work with a MIDI keyboard. I'm pretty sure it's because the Cynthcart program doesn't think there's a MIDI cartridge installed. In the screenshot on CSDB on the bottom you can see that the program detects a Passport cart, and is re...

I think it should already work with the MIDI interface that's available here. I have one, as well as the Datel interface for the real C64, but it's been a while since I've used that. If I have time tomorrow I'll find the Cynthcart ROM and see if it works on MiSTer with a MIDI keyboard

Thanks. I just tried it with Gradius II. I redownloaded the ROM from the "htgdb-gamepacks" Everdrive/MiSTer pack on archive.org, just to be safe, and used that with the patcher. Although it did change the header, the behavior with the patched ROM is still the same. Sometimes I can get past the title screen, but it crashes before I can get...

The M30 shoulder buttons are cloned C & Z buttons iirc.

When hooked up to an actual Genesis/Mega Drive yes, but not over USB. They map to ZL and ZR on the Switch controller. But on MiSTer of course they can be independently mapped to anything

It's not a 1:1 clone, but I really like the 8bitdo M30 2.4g. It's comfortable, has low latency in both wired and wireless modes (I always use it wired though), has all the buttons you'd need for Saturn in all the right spots, and has a few extra buttons that can be mapped to bring up the menu and stuff

I've been using the adapter from Antonio Villena for years. I know the signal is technically a bit sub par with the dot crawl issue, but it's not really noticable to me.
