What version of QEMM are you using, and what's your config.sys look like? Everytime I've tried to mess around with QEMM on the ao486, it seems super unstable.

So, is 'Modem' currently broken on C64? When I select it from 'UART Mode' it jumps back a screen and shows 'Connection: None' with no other options other than 'save'. Updates have been run, and the current C64 core on the sd card is: C64_20210216.rbf Have you installed this update? https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=17936#p17936 I had not inst...

Re: Roadshow TCP/IP Stack on Minimig
Note: on a *real* amiga with a serial connection, you'd probably want to find one of the faster, more stable devices to replace serial.device. On MiSTer with AmigaOS 3.1.4, I haven't really had any issues with the speed performance of the stock serial.device. I may play around with some of those to see if there's any difference / improvements, but ...

Roadshow TCP/IP Stack on Minimig
Got this set up and working last night. I've found Roadshow to be a performant, small-footprint TCP/IP stack (I run it on my real Amiga 2000, too) and it's actively developed, which means you don't wander around the internet searching for lost keys, etc. I think I paid 25 or 30 bucks for it. In setup, under 'UART Mode' set the connection to PPP. Se...

Amiga Keys?
I don't seem to have a right Amiga key. My logitech wireless keyboard has no right Windows key, only the menu button. key_menu_as_rgui set to 1 doesn't seem to allow the 'menu' key to function as the right Amiga key, though. Any suggestions?

Re: Security Update Failing on Cert Update
Found it. The url to grab the certs has changed from https://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem to https://curl.se/ca/cacert.pem
Fixed the url and the certs updated without any issues.

Security Update Failing on Cert Update
When I run the 'update security' script, I get an error message saying: mv: cannot move '/etc/ssl/certs/cert.pem' to '/etc/ssl/certs/<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC" -//IETC/DTD HTML 2.0//EN">.pem': no such file or directory. obviously, I could create that directory, but I have a nagging suspicion that's not the actual name of the directory it's su...

Re: Help with ppp connection on amiga os 3.9
I'm not sure what's going on, but I had Roadshow working without any issues a while back on 3.1.4 and now there seems to be some sort of glitch. My old image was working, then I rebooted and it stopped. I'm not sure whether the issue is an actual 'Amiga-side' issue or something going on with the MiSTer.

Re: Networking Under MS-DOS
Here's how to get the mTCP TCP/IP applications up and running under DOS with the ao486 core: ...snip for length... This is a really great tutorial, but I'm running into a problem: I can't ping anything. After I run epppd com1 115200 local , it says Installed packet driver handler at vector 0x60. But if I try to ping even 192.168.1.1, it times out....

Do you have the UART mode set to PPP? I also had it working with Uart Speed set to 30x, but it was unstable, so I also recommend setting it to Normal.

Hrm. I went over the instructions again and it looks like everything is there, but let me double check against my mister and make sure I didn't miss anything. I had issues on the earlier cached versions, but since about 38 it's been working for me. I'm on 40, though, not 41.

Re: Nextstep on ao486?
Does NeXTStep assume a SCSI controller? (I think it might from my VirtualBox days.) If so, ao486 only implements a very basic IDE controller. As I mentioned, there are two IDE drivers that come with NextStep. One is an Intel driver, one is a more generic driver. I could only get the VM to install on the more generic driver. It's possible that the ...

Re: Nextstep on ao486?
I was able to get it installed in VirtualBox, then move the VHD over to the ao486. It bootstraps, but on boot it can't seem to find the drive:
'ATA drive 0 is not present.'
Possibly a driver issue, but I was only able to get the VM to install with one of the two IDE drivers that I found.

I use FTP all the time on it. It works very well. Honestly, I haven't bothered to install a browser because I've run them under DOS before, and frankly they're not very useful.

Re: Networking Under MS-DOS
Not on ao486, but I've had arachene and lynx running under DOS, and also a DOS gopher client. Once you get the packet driver loaded and working, you can create a simple wattcp.cfg with your ip, gateway, and net mask, and use Waterloo TCP apps, too. The mTCP applications are a lot of bang for the buck. I've also had success loading a 'Big DOS' windo...

Networking Under MS-DOS
Here's how to get the mTCP TCP/IP applications up and running under DOS with the ao486 core: 1. Download the DOS PPPD driver: DOSPPP06.ZIP 2. Grab the latest version of Michael Brutman's mTCP TCP/IP applications for MS-DOS, from the 'Downloads' section on this page: http://www.brutman.com/mTCP/ 3. Transfer those zip files over to your ao486's virtu...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
New version of cache 34 is working for me, though the uart issue is still there and I can't get networking to work. Just to play around with the SVGA, I've installed and tested a few games from the early - mid 90s: - F117 Stealth Fighter 2 works with no issues - Masters of Orion works with no issues - Descent 2 crashes with a DOS4GW issue (possibly...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Cool, cool. cache33 works, though is it a known issue that the UART is broken / doesn't work? I have mtcp dos networking up and running under the current (05/10/2020) release under PPP mode, but it doesn't seem to work on the newer versions with the cache. I assume this is related to the switch from the commercial uart implementation to the free im...

Re: ao486 wish-list
Is the core able to read the 2nd SD card? Say as a secondary drive? I wonder it this core could be used to FTP things into it, so we don't have to physically remove it. You can already FTP into and out of it without physically removing the drive. Just set up PPP through a packet driver (DOS) or Trumpet Winsock (Win95) and you can read and write di...
