Sure - but Altera was bought by intel - so the main component in MiSTer is produced by intel now.

Re: New MiSTer hardware board

Not really sure about reducing the DDR3 ram part. I have the feeling the MiSTer framework is already using the 1GB ram to its limit. At least when Soundfonts for Midi output is used. Also everything framebuffer related needs ram - some more is the way to go not less imho.

Re: New MiSTer hardware board

I for one welcome any idea for making CC hardware. That was a huge part of what I liked about the MiST in the first place. Also the availability of the hardware played into it. Price not so much. So I would say, as long as it is open and really available, you could get a return on your investment. Make sure to not underestimate the love people have...

Re: Doom with Midi Sound (Sound Canvas)

Not using SoftMPU! --> https://youtu.be/IxORU_e3owI Great news! I tested Doom an Doom 2 with the old Cache 29 core. While the speed is really good I always got random firing of the weapon. Mostly it occurs when pressing two keys at the same time (like strafe toggle alt + left or space + strafe right key). It is kind of an annoyance in early level ...

Also make sure to configure the MiSTer.ini correctly. That was my initial mistake - but you will figure it out. It is not that hard :)

I made a cable. I do not remember using any resistors. Should be safe.

Re: Doom with Midi Sound (Sound Canvas)

Programs that use 32bit DOS ... Anything I am doing wrong? When I select ˋchange soundfontsˋ all I get is no files and I cannot navigate to search for .sf2 files. All my .sf2 are in the linux\soundfonts dir. I also did run the midilink update script run. Is the menu item reserved for future use? Would be nice as until now I use scripts to switch t...

Nice idea :) - Wonder if one could improve the design with a fidget spinner and maybe some 3d printing - Maybe I will give it a shot someday  Edit: Oh - I guess somebody already did: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4386075 Y.A.R.M.A.U.S. V2 (Arcade Spinner Controller) https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/6a/ce/2b/4f/de/large_display_202005...

Not possible as far as I know. ao486 is not vesa compatible (at least not supporting any SVGA resolution) - So until SVGA is added you will not find anything compatible.
