Re: Screen Centering in VGA Mode

On hardware side, there are some cheap Extrons that can center horizontally, you can read about them here.

Some later Trinitron models also have a "RGB centering" option in the menu which does just that.

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

The challenge with phrasing a question in absolute terms [...] There is no challenge whatsoever. There either are extra artifacts or there aren't. Your reply is symptomatic of a ridiculous amount of obfuscating noise which was already presented here in response to some basic queries about a product...

If I buy this board, will I see any EXTRA artifacts caused by MiSTer cores + board itself?
I've asked this really simple question some time ago, and nobody has answered it yet. "Yes" or "no" only, please.

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

My adapter has not any issue. all adapters have the same issue. This is surreal :) Unfortunately I might actually need one of these adapters soon, so still would like to find out what the score really is. It seems impossible to do so in this bizarre thread, so if anybody has one and uses it to disp...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

It's normal because all adapters have the same issue. You can buy, compare, make make a video and publish if you don't trust me. You miss the point completely. Perhaps all adapters do have the same issue, I don't question that. But that means there IS an issue. And there is no mention of that issue...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

It's not a flaw. Composite video has these artifacts and are completely normal. Fixing in hardware is not enough. It requires core modification If you talk about "fixing it" then how can it be "normal"? Your explanation in the tweet says it's normal for FPGA, but this obviously does not make it any...

Re: 68020 AGA core - 2 game issues

No, why do you ask? :) You're a funny guy. Nevermind :) Meanwhile, I'll definitely keep on insisting that it'd be great to see A1200 brought as close to 1:1, like I did in this other thread, since it seems there are reasons for doing so after all. And I'll most definitely take opinions of assorted ...

Re: 68020 AGA core - 2 game issues

When 68000 is selected as CPU, the MiSTer will use the cycle exact Fx68k core from ljor, while if you select 68020, it will use the tg68.C core by tobiflex. So two different CPU cores. TG68 started out as a 68000 core, and 020 functionality was only added years later. It works amazingly well, but i...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs

I still don't really know what settings should I use. When I set direct_video and vga_scaler & scandoubler to 0, I get small, centered image. With direct_video & scandoubler =1 image is good on most cores, but ao486 causes my monitor to lose sync, there is no image. This core only works on direct_vi...

Right, I thought there was one, from some other suggestion.

Can't really comment on the image size because I haven't got it to run on my Direct Video myself yet.

Re: C64 core maturity vs alternatives

But the C64 on MiSTer is pretty barebones compared to the Ultimate. That's correct, but only if you're interested in connecting external hardware. Comparing software compatibility and general accuracy is another matter though, which is what "core maturity" refers to. Does FDD compatibility affect t...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

Yes, there is a big difference between normal composite video and composite video with artifacts coming from modern hardware flaws. No, I wouldn't buy a PS4 if it had a serious flaw and I knew there is a revised PS4 without it coming out soon. And if people only learned about this flaw from some ran...

Yes. This guy is seller of MiSTer stuff and it seems he does to attack competitors. As I explain on that email, the problem is due to the core and it's present on all composite adapters on the market not only my one. I won't say me adapter it's the best, but I just receive this email from a client....

Re: Performance vs real A1200 + 030

Not really, which should be obvious - the original machines and these FPGA systems don't have so much in common. The idea behind the whole "FPGA angle" is to have new hardware to replace old hardware, and to avoid certain issues with software emulation (latency and more). One of the big hype factor...
