Direct Video is a fantastic option but it's not flawless. Finding a decent dongle can be quite a battle, and it's also incapable of displaying modelines without external add on.
But yes, overall it's an another argument against the "threat" theory.

Aside from other, obvious great things he has done, I have a huge respect for being able to walk away from such a profitable Patreon.
Thanks a lot, it runs fine now!
My .atr works fine, perhaps you should look for another one. My OSD settings: XL+Basic, 64kb, NTSC (but I guess PAL should work too). Boots with F8+F10.

I'd like to know whether this is actually true (but have a feeling it'll be hard to find out).
I just checked it on a CRT (Direct Video to PVM BNC) and it works OK. It's been some time, but I'm pretty sure I didn't need to intialize it on HDMI first - though YMMV of course and maybe you should try it.
If there's a restriction, then it was probably placed there for a reason. This is not really a cracking forum. I'm all up for distributing old games, but Next is a current, active affair, and going against the wishes of its creators would be bad manners, so to speak.
Crap, I bought this one as well, though won't be able to try it out for some time as it's elsewhere. Just my luck, I guess. Did you try Amiga core? This one uses res changes quite frequently (also ao486)...
It's been my most-wanted feature for a long time.

Sadly, Sorgelig keeps shooting it down, though I'm still not sure wheteher it's just not possible to do, or he just doesn't like the idea.
In theory you could download them all and put on a vhd, but I think many of the authors prefer distribution through their own channels such as itch.io (even for the "free" games).
