Re: IBM PCJr Core

There are PC/XT cores for the ZX Uno FPGA - maybe they could be used as a starting point. See https://www.zxuno.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=56 No, that core uses Next186 CPU core and VGA. It's not going to be any more compatible with 8088 software than what we have with ao486. Actually, Next186 running in 1/4 speed is similar to a 12.5mhz 286 which ...

TT is feasible. That was actually one if the the goals for the original MiST, but Someone needs to make a 68030. I thought someone was working on that for minimig. Hopefully there's enough room for fpu.

Audio in is for datasette in a few specific cores. They say it isn't high enough a sampling rate for actual audio use. I always just ran mist/mister sound through my sc-88 or if using mt-100 had an audio splicer connected.

Re: Is the Atari Falcon 030 possible in MiSTer?

I would love to support the dev on this. Finding a Falcon let alone affording one is pretty tough these days. The 040 isn't as compatible as 030. MMU stuff was simplified. It would overall be better to do an 030 with the seperate 68882. Sign me up though.

MiSTer as an online retro multiplayer platform? This would be strictly for console and arcade cores. A server needed to list active matches. A client/host system where P1 has switched the core to play online and P2 finds the match on the server browsing script. P1's game restarts when P2 joins. Then the input lag/game sync. Basically, the server wi...

Re: Using the scaler to downscale to 15khz

Ah i was playing with this last week too. I was really optimistic about the 640x240 mode working, but when I saw it halved i realized that it wasn't going to work. Cutting half the vertical isn't so bad since most everything for dos and those old games was actually intended for a 240 type output. If there was a way ti make this a standard scaler ou...

Re: 15hz CRT support through CGA/EGA card simulation?

Since some recent update it seems that no matter what I set the scaler to for this core it displays 640x480 or something close to that. Anyone else having this happen? Also, in scaled VGA on a 15khz crt mode it boots up and displays fine, then immediately switches to a higher sync. It's like there is some video setting overriding the video modes th...

Re: [DOS/4GW] Help needed. We are almost there, the perfect DOS machine

I had 32 Mb of RAM in my 486 in 95 and it was noticably more efficient. I'd set that as a baseline. Anything higher probably wouldn't be utilized and anything lower will cut it short.

no matter what cd_bios.rom I have in the game folder it uses boot.rom in the main folder, if there is no boot.rom loading discs a notification says cd_bios.rom not found.

Re: CD BIOS Not Found?

I just went through the EU list and made them all individual folders, they load the disc just by selecting the folder because it's one .cue and has the EU bios as cd_bios.rom, but it's still reverting to the main boot.rom on load and setting the region to US. Does not make any sense. it would make more sense if the regions were linked to specific b...

Re: CD BIOS Not Found?

I'm having trouble. It used to be you select the bios.rom by region according to the game, but now it's all just one file name in the folder. So I split the regions into 3 different folders in the megacd folder each one has boot.rom and cd_bios.rom of the according region. none work like that. So I put the US bios in the main megacd folder and i ge...

Re: SCUMMVM to BVM question

Full screen, just have to modify the scummvm install to run at 240p akeley posted the link. Can do the Same with ao486, though the DOS prompt is illegible and for both you have to change the .ini settings back and forth for regular usage. fun to do, but not practical for long term use.

Re: Keen4 calibration crash

I'm running in regular DOS 6.22. will try and find some drivers or something, but I figured it was part of the soundcard drivers to operate a 2 button or 4 button joystick in DOS. Seems like most of the hardware for this core is all designed for win95 drivers leaving pure DOS and win 3.11 in the wind.

Re: 15hz CRT support through CGA/EGA card simulation?

If you want 15khz resolutions for VGA/EGA/CGA games there's a few threads with working custom scaler settings to set in the config .ini. They work alright for games, but not DOS prompts or any OS's so you'd want to have a switchable config file and a HDD image specifically for those games with some sort of graphical menu preconfigured. I tested the...

Re: MiSTer ao486 developers

Ultrasound - not sure it'd be all that consuming from an FPGA point of view, because the hardware itself was fairly minimalist - for example, the waveform generator for the MIDI engine was largely software-based (i.e. soundfonts). Ensoniq AudioPCI would actually be harder, and AWE *much* harder. Good point, and considering there is fluidsynth alre...

Re: MiSTer ao486 developers

Well, I was coming up with ideas, I figure ultrasound would be a lot to add so an awe32 would be more appropriate, but why not just go awe64 if going 32 and there's enough room, but that's a lot of IRQ and sound with a midi card as well. Probably best as is, but with better compatibility. Still some bugs in the video side and some timing things.

Wouldn't you need a completely different IO board for the 9 pin TTL video? I think HDMI is TTL, but way different and there's nothing to adapt vga back to 9 pin let alone hdmi.

Hardware midi would be great. Also, if enough room I have a voodoo 2 I could send out to be logic scanalyzed for voodoo2 SLI. Or an AWE64 Gold. Probably be hard to hook up a printer, but some sort of usb printer support would be amazing. That and hopefully the already present video and sound improve. Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs

Yea, still has some bugs. Any higher res dos games or windows 3.1 are still broken. Willy beamish is working great though. I just assumed the 4x didn't work for dos games as win 3.11 wasn't being affected. Games with trouble would be oregon trail deluxe, duke nukem in vesa modes, SC2000. pretty much anything that is actual 640x480 and higher.
