Re: Amigavision/Minimig - Controller Setup Problem

Have you set it up outside of the core?

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Wiki_Mi ... ck-Mapping

Also, does it work on e.g. your PC/Mac?

Which version of Doom is in this collection? I'm not seeing Thy Flesh Consumed in the episode list.

I believe that’s included as part of the Ultimate Doom release?

Yes, apologies if I was too terse in my response. If you are using a 1440p screen, you should add the relevant default resolutions under the [Amiga] section, and replace the 1080p default PAL/NTSC settings. The 5× Dynamic Crop/Scale only applies when you use 1080p (or, by extension, 4K) output.

The offsets we include should only apply to 1080p (and by extension, 4K), not for any other resolution. Unless there’s a bug in the core that we are unaware of.

Re: AmigaVision 2024.04.04 Released with 543 New PAL Game Settings, Revision 2024 Demos

Are there plans to support Direct Video (DV) output with metadata (DV1) to output the native video resolution to a scaler in this case the Retrotink 4K? This would be awesome! So you putting out 240p for example and the Scaler scales to 4K. MiSTers HDMI is maxed out at 1080p. Part of the issue here is that Amiga’s output doesn’t cleanly ...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Agreed! I think it would be a great supplementary pack to have. I’ve also considered that maybe eventually I could do a ScummVM pack as well, but I’m not as familiar with point and click games so the interest isn’t super strong for me at the moment. Maybe after I get to a good place with DOS games :) I think they are referencing the fact that ther...

Simply check the <mtime> on archive.org to know if an archive was updated and compare it with a locally saved data (in XML form).

Modification time would work as well, yes — I am not familiar with the APIs here, so I will leave the implementation to the ones actually writing the code 😄

The currently followed approach here is not going to work. The source of truth can never be the live GitHub file pulled straight from main . Either one needs to work out a system with tags and atomic releases, or — if one wants to have it be a live evolving project with the binaries being updated as soon as they are ready — a system that e.g. uses ...

One of the main points of the 0MHz DOS Collection is that it’s split up. You will never need double the space of however many games you download to unpack the games — just whatever the largest single game is.

Re: Core Sizes?

Is there any information on how big (LLEs, etc) current MiSTer cores are? I found one spreadsheet about that, but it looks outdated. I'm mostly interested in Console and Computer cores. I doubt that’s outdated (outside of missing some cores), they are unlikely to change massively in scale. But if you are looking for N64/PSX/Saturn, maybe MisterAdd...

Probably not. Maybe MT-32, but I don’t want to speak for Mr. Emu, who is doing the actual work. 😅

Most people had a Soundblaster equivalent, that’s what’s going to trigger their nostalgia. Anyone that knows what a MT-32 device is can probably find their way around the setup menus and save that as their setup.

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

So now, we can launch either "Ultima VI" or "Ultima VI - MT32" from the Cores menu, at the cost of just 2 dummy 160K floppy images for the whole collection. Maybe using the support for the /shared drive in the core would be the better/easier way? That’s what we do for AmigaVision, it could just be a single file in that director...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

If possible, a big improvement re: packaging would be to keep the configurations (MGL, CFG) separate from the game .zip files, maybe in a single zip for all game configurations as the size is very small. That way, frequent configuration changes (e.g. for bugfixing) can take place without one having to redownload the entire game. This would break o...

In AmigaVision, we use the /shared drive to communicate between the core/scaler and AmigaOS. ao486 supports the same kind of shared drive, I think. Anyway, seems like this should be its own new topic ;)

I assume MechWarrior 2 is outside of the capailities? I know I played it on my 486DX2-50, tho it plated a LOT better on my 486DX4-75 Laptop. I have a feeling this game needs that 80487 MathCo Processor.

Yes, think of it as a 486SX. Probably won’t run that game, certainly not well if at all.

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Why is an ao486 config file required? It seems shared by all games. Can we set it manually? I tried Alone in the Dark and it failed to run, and that's the only file I did not copy. It needs the ao486.cfg to ensure it runs with the correct settings, yes — you can of course adjust it to your liking after it’s been copied. They are all the same confi...
