Re: Apple II Core
New version of Pitch Dark is out, and looks like the format has been changed to .hdv. Should work out of the box now, I'd imagine.

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
New update is out for anyone testing my .vhd. Please update to the latest version linked in the Google Doc. The old version has an old Macintosh virus called nVIR A. It's harmless, but annoying - not something you want infecting your files. It's been eradicated in the new test image and future tests will be scanned with Disinfectant before upload. ...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
There's a System Picker app installed and accessible after you first boot into 7.5. Where is this ? part of one of the vhd images? SavageTaylor's images (linked earlier in this thread) have the application installed, but only one OS present. In the WIP .vhd I've been sharing, there are 5 different OSes (covering most of what you'd want to use on a...

Rapid progress is being made on a hard drive image I've been working on for this core. Shoot me an email or message if you are interested in trying it out... What size HD and what kind of programs? It's very much a WIP still, but I'm using a single 2GB .vhd in my current setup. Less than a gigabyte of actual space is used on my current working ima...

Yes, sorry, forgot to mention Pitch Dark needs the 65C02 CPU and will give you an rather useless little menu if you are set to 6502 instead.

Re: Apple II Core
This .hdv should work for Pitch Dark on the MiSTer Apple2 core:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/yx5ymf00 ... 7.zip/file
I just compared the distributed Pitch Dark .2mg with the working Total Replay .hdv in a hex editor and lopped off the header from the .2mg file to match the Total Replay file. Cheers!

Wizardry II! I really enjoy these Mac ports of other games, as they tend to be pretty custom. The Wizardry ports go further than most in leveraging the UI for their own purposes in a very cool way. Worth messing with even if you have played Wizardry on another platform!

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
Does anyone know what the relationship is between the latest Mister MacPlus core update and the core previously released on 20210315? In the latest core update the keyboard behaviour is far less stable than in the 20210315 core. The keyboard usability even regressed from the previous "official" core release. I have noticed some strangene...

I absolutely adore the early Mac aesthetic. Right-click > open in new tab to prevent the forum software from scaling the image and ruining the dithering patterns.
I'll probably edit this post to add more pictures later.

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
Just a heads up for anyone pushing the envelope with this core - be very cautious about attempting to load into 6.0.8 with a mounted .vhd that has more than about 10,000-11,000 files on it or so - in my case it was like 1.8 GB of files. System 6 is capable of addressing 2GB partitions, but it needs to first read the drive hierarchy in order to (re)...

*Very* helpful, thank you Alan - the SCSI driver is crucial! Looks like SoftMac can interface with virtualized (and real!) SCSI devices, and as such is capable of installing the SCSI driver to HFS disks via the Apple HD SC Setup via System 7.3.5 or later: https://www.savagetaylor.com/2018/09/10/setting-up-your-vintage-classic-68k-macintosh-using-so...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
Can anyone share a ~224MB bootable image for 6.0.8? Really, just something in a happy medium between 20MB and 2GB would be useful, as the former is somewhat too small, the latter probably too big, and I haven't been able to generate a hardfile of anything in between yet that the MiSTer core will accept yet. Either that, or if anyone could help expl...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
Thank you to everyone working on this core. I can confirm that on the MacPlus_20210315.rbf test file above, the right side of the image is cut off by a few pixels. The OSD for this core could also use some more love, there are no options to unmount disks or drives currently (e.g. Amiga core allows you to press Backspace or hold Menu Cancel and pres...

Re: Force 256px option
This option is helpful with Scale: HV-Integer settings. The SNES core outputs a 512 pixel wide picture by default, even in 256 wide games (nearly all games). Possibly so you don't have to switch resolution for the modes and games that do use the high resolution modes? Since this double-width also affects the HV-Integer scaling, using Force 256px wi...

I asked sorgelig about an Automatic HV-Integer option on one of his patreon posts, and from his reply it looks like he's not interested in adding it. https://www.patreon.com/posts/minimig-47954075?cid=54369989 I was checking the situations and i came to conclusion that Auto won't give much but more chaos of random options. Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
Square pixels with R-Type on that core is 5:3 (already listed in the 5x .txt file). You need to uncomment the ratio and comment out another one, as you can only have 2 active per core. Also, 3:2 isn't integer scaling for R-Type. That only works on games with the most common PCE resolution. With 1080p using vertical crop, 4:3 is horizontally integer...

Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
General idea behind atrac17's custom modelines is to provide a display with a native resolution MiSTer's scaler does not support (e.g. 4K) with as crisp an image as possible in order to maximize the results after processing by the display's internal scaler (as well as providing compatibility with e.g. scanlines and LCD effects). They are worth a sh...

Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
I'm very excited about the experimental automatic integer scaling Genesis core sorgelig posted on his Patreon. I'm very hopeful this feature can be ported to most or all of the major cores eventually. I'll still maintain the repository if this happens, but I'll be very happy for it to no longer be necessary in the vast majority of cases!!!

Re: Ys glitches
This is a known issue: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/SMS_MiSTer/issues/60
There is a build linked in that thread that corrects the issue. It would be nice if this fix could be merged into the SMS core at some point, as the FM soundtrack in the Japanese version is fantastic.

Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
I think I finally cracked the Amiga code... turrican21.png cannon1.png mega1.png beast31.png I think my problem was related to the "Adjust screen position" option, which apparently saves adjustments made to a file, minimig_vadjust.dat. I renamed that file in both the shared Amiga and main config folders and now the ratios I had tried prev...

Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
I just got a request on the GitHub to support 1920x1120 custom modes. The ratios should already be available for the most part as many of the 1080p and 1200p ratios are already working at 1120p, but it's difficult to know at a glance with the current comment setup whether or not a ratio will work without trying it or mathing out the scaled resoluti...

Re: Automatic horizontal integer scaling implementation on SMS
Just did some testing with this. It's fantastic! It seems to work well in 1920x1440 without breaking due to width, and even when used in conjunction with custom aspect ratios, still seems to produce a fully integer scaled image. In other words, even if you alter aspect ratio in conjunction with toggling this on, the output remains integer scaled. I...

Thanks for all the great work on the Amiga stuff! I will give it a go soon and see if I can get them working.
Just added ratios for the new 1080p 5x crop builds to the repository. I'm very also excited by Yim's work on automatic horizontal integer scaling in the SMS core, which should be relevant to most people following this thread

Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
I've ceased using the resolution display on the OSD for these calculations, as the screenshot tool is much more reliable. Take a screenshot, plug the dimensions into the calculator, and even if you lack the real dot / pixel clock you can usually fudge it a little bit until you get the desired ratios. I tend to provide multiple options to account fo...

Re: MiSTer Custom Aspect Ratios for Horizontal Integer Scaling
I still have no luck with any Minimig ratios. Mainly testing in 720p as that's the easiest way for me to work rapidly. No matter what I do, I can't get it to work. What was your methodology for generating those Minimig resolutions? Nothing seems to work for me and I'm not sure where you got those values.
