Re: ZX Spectrum Top 100 Games Collection (feat. 386 titles)

This is awesome. I was struggling to find a decent set other than TOSEC, which has a million copies of each game, haha. Cheers! Thanks! For the best 1Game1Rom ZX Spectrum collection I recommend tracking down the latest Gamebase (Speccymania v5). I had already done all of those steps and arrived at an odd looking menu with F11. Trying to boot the d...

Re: ZX Spectrum Top 100 Games Collection (feat. 386 titles)

I also have no idea how to run this on the Spectrum core. Trying to run it on the ZXNext core just gives me a 'cannot load TBBLUE.FW' error. Adding that file to the games/ZXNext folder does nothing. To recap, on the ZX Spectrum core you need to: -unpack it to /media/fat/games/Spectrum and change the extension name to .vhd. -make sure you have the ...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Forgive my ignorance ....but....what's exactly the point for groovy-dolphin? As far as I know neither the gamecube nor the WII had exotic timings (NTSC/PAL) that should be reproduceable and displayable by all modern TVs/monitors. And you even get the benefit of upscaling... For me, GC's Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 0 are amongst the most...

I don't think I'd ever heard of it, but the one (1) TASVideos publication available does something like that.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

When I was a kid, in our local arcade somebody figured out you could skip the first level by climbing the first ladder, going right a little and sort of back jumping. Mario then would kind of fall through the edge instead of crashing. Has anybody ever heard of this trick? It was nearly 40 years ago and my recollection of it is pretty hazy but I'm p...

Re: VGA to SCART Using Analog IO 6.1

Some CRT sets are sensitive to MiSTer's output resulting in anomalies. Things to try I can think of:
-check again your ini is really the latest one here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_Mi ... MiSTer.ini
-try without the VGA_PWR jumper
-get one of the decent Direct Video dongles and see what happens

Re: 31kHz games?

Ironically enough though, AO486 doesn't natively output proper resolutions over VGA and has to run through the scaler, resulting in some sketchy image quality on a real VGA CRT. I dug up my old 17" monitor to play Indiana Jones a few months ago and was bummed out by the results. I gave up and just played it over HDMI with some nice filters Yo...

Re: ESXDos, is it possible?

It seems a bit finicky, as in the core can sometimes get into a bad state and won't respond in the same way, but usually a cold reboot (going back to MiSTer menu) seems to work fine. If you mean my image, there is a bug which makes keyboard operations freeze sometimes unless SPACE is pressed. It's got something to do with using bob_fossil's LFN br...

Re: I cannot get a decent picture w/component video on a CRT

Your .ini is outdated. Try using this one: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/blob/master/MiSTer.ini The only things you should change is vga_mode=ypbpr, and maybe vga_sog=0 / 1, to see if it helps with green tint. To troubleshoot you should go directly from analog board's VGA to TVs inputs using a component cable, with no Retrotink involv...

Re: Expanding the forum to include other retro gaming?

Many forums with focus on a singular platform (like this one) have some sort of "Other [...]" subforum, where you can discuss things not related to the main topic (as long as it's not the dreaded politics/religion/etc of course). It certainly wouldn't hurt to have one here. It's true that this is a low traffic forum but I think it also ha...

It's quite amusing to read about things being "good enough" regarding a platform of which one of the major selling points is accuracy, while an experienced Amiga developer is actively tackling this subject, and working code already exists. In any case the purpose of this thread is not starting yet another squabble about this topic, but a)...

"Speed toggle" for the Amiga Minimig core

It's a well known fact that while A500 on Minimig core can run at the original speed, A1200 is somewhat faster. For the most part it is a good thing, but I believe having more control over the core's speed would be beneficial. It could possibly help tackling problems with some of the glitchy/too fast software, as well as simply being a more faithfu...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

The benefit I see from it is moreso that you can avoid needing to have a whole PC + legacy video card with analog vga output in the mix. The latency is also an added benefit though. This is correct, plus you also have to add some converter such as UMSA into the chain ( 40E), but more importantly setting 15kHz on Windows is not for the faint of hea...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

It would be pointless using a Pi to do this. A Pi can already do what this core is doing, natively, without having to go through a network. You can even use original resolutions, and refresh rates, at 15hz, connected to a CRT. This really isn't so simple, which is why I mentioned it earlier. I spent a couple of years wrestling with Pi2SCART on RPi...

Yes, but if your sole contributions to the forum are complaining about something not working (you see this with github users too), don't be surprised if you get short shrift. I don't see anything wrong with somebody making an account only because they care about one particular issue. It's not "complaining" but bug reporting, and this one...

To be fair, you don't need this core to use a Pi with a CRT, you can use a Pi hat, such as the Pi2SCART. Then you get to use whatever MAME, or emulator you want, and the resolution, and refresh rate should be the same as the original hardware.

I used to do that but the advantage of PC is huge. Less lag, much more games, etc.
