Re: 224p? Video_info

CPS1/2 has 224 active lines in a 240 line signal. It's the same thing with most of the NTSC consoles. This is correct behavior.

Re: How to make RTG modes fill the screen

That should do the trick. If you look at the top of that page there is a link to a default ini file that has all of the options included. Vscale_mode is line 9.

Yes, it would be in the mister.ini file. I would suggest reading up on it here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_Mi ... tion-Files

Re: Stupid question: "Stereo Mix" option

Your latter assumption is correct. None is unaltered stereo. Imagine none as LEFT and RIGHT are mixed as LEFT is fully left and RIGHT is fully right. 100% is LEFT and RIGHT are mixed fully in the center. Everything in between is some percentage of that mix. This is mostly helpful when using headphones, especially for cores like the Amiga where the ...

Re: Cannot find vertical crop option

As far as I know the Amiga core does not support the vertical crop option in the same way as the console cores. The Amiga supports a vast number of resolutions, so the core allows for adjustments on a per resolution basis. There is a script that can set the proper zoom/crop for each game. More info can be found in this thread https://misterfpga.org...

This is fantastic. My day job is working with people with disabilities and I love seeing that things are capable of working with adaptive equipment such as this.

Not only that, but I imagine there are countless possibilities with this controller and some of the more in depth sims playable on the ao486 core.

Re: Why I hate emulation.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned as far as software emulation goes is variable refresh rate. VRR setups (like Freesync and Gsync) typically solve the issues with non standard refresh rates of games as well as the added lag of vsync. Of course VRR support does not instantly make an emulator accurate or lag free, but for some emulators this tech ...

Re: videomode 5x

I took a crack at this, well, 4x at least. Please let me know if I am doing this the wrong way. I went into the overscan preferences in WorkBench and adjusted the PAL setting to be 270 pixels tall (1080/4) and then set the width to 676 (270x2.5=675, but WB would only allow for 674 or 676). I then used the Misters image adjust to maximize the visibl...

Question, did the Lynx have a refresh rate that varied constantly throughout gameplay (like modern VRR?) or just each game could run at a different, constant, rate?

Re: 100% scanlines?

In the filters if you go to the misc folder there are the two scanline folders (sharp and soft). Within them you can find from 10% to 100% I believe.

Foxbat, on Mister it means the alternating scanlines themselves are 100% pure black.

Finally finished up my MiSTer stick and case. gU9WoOw.jpg The case is nothing special, just a metal project box. Right now it's a pretty minimal setup, but it is what works best in my setup. Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer

I had lots of problems with most of the arcade cores when using a USB drive. What I ultimately did that, so far, has not had any issues was to put only the games folder on the USB drive, except for the mame and hbmame folders, which I left in the games folder on the SD card.

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p

I did have a thought, does your new monitor have an overdrive feature? If so, try adjusting that. I know on my monitor if it is set too high it does cause some weird issues.

If not, maybe post your mister.ini.

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p

That weird movement is because of the uneven scaling. Some people call it shimmering. There is nothing wrong with your monitor. If anything, it may be more noticeable on your new monitor because it might have less motion blur than your older monitor. Try some of the filters (https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Filters_MiSTer).

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

Mahen, Yes, if you disable all filters you will have uneven pixel scaling even if you have vscale=1 in the mister.ini. That only applies integer scaling to the vertical axis, hence Vscale. Loot at the picture Chris23235 posted. Notice the checkerboard pattern is very uneven. This is not a bug, this is just the nature of scaling. The Amiga Workbench...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

Ok, so that isn't an issue with your monitor, it is because the Amiga (and most everything else as well) has non square pixels. Try using some of the filters (https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Filters_MiSTer) to see if they alleviate the problem for you. I would start with Interpolation Sharp and go from there. You may even find that with the filters...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

Just so I make sure I understand what you are seeing correctly, the pixels are uneven. basically not all the same size? For example, in your image, the letter m. The "legs" of the letter are not all the same width. Is this what you are talking about? And it is especially noticeable when things are scrolling?

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but the integer scaling mode is only for the vertical axis. The horizontal will not be perfectly even because most retro computers and consoles did not have perfectly square pixels, especially when scaling to the correct aspect ratio. It would be especially noticeable on the Amiga workbench since, by default...

Re: Non-square pixels, is changing the PAR possible?

If the small border are on the left and right sides that is normal. Not all Neo Geo games used the full width of the screen, which is why there is the cropping option of 304px or 320px wide. Setting it to 320px will probably fill the whole screen, but some games may show unwanted garbage on the sides. Actually you'll probably find various games on ...

Re: Non-square pixels, is changing the PAR possible?

How well does your monitor handle 4:3 resolutions that only match up on one of the axis (1280x960 or 1366x1024)? I remember I used to have a plasma TV that had non square pixels. It was a 16x9 screen, but the resolution was 1024x768. I remember that feeding it a 1366x768 signal still produced a very good image. Obviously not the most ideal solution...

Re: AO486 and Sony 20L5 (mulitformat)

I've not used direct video so I can't say for certain, but if it outputs the original signal then it would be outputting a 400p@70hz signal, which the L5 series can not display. I've had both a 14L5 and a 20L5 and can say it won't sync to old DOS video signal timings. I remember it also didn't particularly like 640x480@60Hz from a modern PC either....
