More great news. Grab has added a 5x crop build for NES!
You can find all the 5x crop test builds in the link below. Make sure you are using integer scaling. Custom Aspect Ratios currently do not work.

Re: A case for 5x vertical crop in 1080p mode.
I've just simulated a centralized vertical 1200p crop to 1080p with a screenshot captured from an emulator on the PC using GIMP and I kinda like the result: It seems to match where my old TV used to crop when playing with my original Sega Mega Drive back then in the 90's. I really hope this become a reality in the near future. Grabulosaure posted ...

Has a frame buffer been applied to all recently updated Arcade Cores with Tate mode?
I notice that when switching orientation to Tate supported Arcade cores my monitor no longer loses sync for a brief moment, so that leads me to believe that a global frame buffer might have been applied. If this is the case then why was this implemented, and if not why do I no longer temporary lose sync when switching orientation? Using V_Sync=2 mo...

Rysha said that NES core is setup in a way that could make save states possible. The problem is with the mappers taken into account it will be a lot of work.

Super Gameboy on GB core doesn't have the extra sound channels since those came from the SNES APU.

Re: Composite Blend on Genesis core on all console cores?
Definitely doesn't make sense for all cores. Only handful for the systems that used dithering heavily. We don't need it. Just like how it looks. If this could be achieved with a filter, I'd be game for it. The composite blend on this core specifically though, looks a million times better than the Blargg filter on things like RetroArch. Tossing on ...

Re: What new console, handheld or arcade core do you think will be released in 2021?
Atari 7800 ......just keep hoping...😃🙏 I find it very odd that there isn't already a 7800 core. And I mean from way back in MiST days, how was there nobody interested in implementing this system? I mean its not exactly the most complex system in the world. It still uses some of the original 2600 hardware like the TIA chip for sound and 6502 for th...

Re: What new console, handheld or arcade core do you think will be released in 2021?
PS1 core currently being worked on might be in some kind of playable form late this year.
CPS2 Arcade core is definitely coming this year.
I don't expect any new handheld cores this year.
I just want to know if SRG320 is working on anything new and if its 32x lol.

I agree, Corrected colors should stay default and I don't think anyone would argue this. I just prefer raw for a lot of official games and color hacks.

Re: Atari 2600
Now what this core really needs is an optional frame buffer toggle for the few games that have weird output. Most games can handle the low latency V_Sync=2 setting no problem, but a few games are very problematic and it would be nice if one could turn on a buffer on the fly specifically for those games. Can you give examples? Air Raid and Jr. Pacm...

Re: A case for 5x vertical crop in 1080p mode.
Its just another scaler option lol, nothing too crazy. That's exactly the point. Guy tells you the feature is a pain in the butt to work on because of all kinds of non-technical drama and endless tweaking after it's written, and here you go trivializing the change making it sound an effortless trivial five minute tweak. Nobody cares enough to make...

Re: Gameboy Color - Desaturated Colors
This is great since so many people are modding their original Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance systems with IPS LCD screen kits and will be used to the Raw RGB colors, so would be a nice option for users.

Re: A case for 5x vertical crop in 1080p mode.
I guess my personal confusion is the argument that "could cause support problems / user confusion / hell to freeze over" could be applied to damned near every EXISTING configuration option. Why is this, arguably more useful than some others, feature being particularly bemoaned? Don't make it a default, allow it to be set globally or per-...

Re: Gameboy Color - Desaturated Colors
Just tried it, now the colors match a lot closer to my IPS GBA! BTW, the color option effects the standard GB core. I don't know if this is supposed to happen. Anyways here is the comparison now between my IPS modded GBA and MiSTer with new color choice. Last photo is the previous colors on MiSTer. image0 (9).jpg image1 (1).jpg image0 (8).jpg

WOW, would have never thought that 8 months later the GB core would shape up to where its at now. Absolutely amazing, thank you to everyone who contributed to making this core that much better.
Paulb, BRNx and FPGAZumSPass, you should all be proud of your work, this core deserved it.

If its an optional feature then how could it negatively affect cores? I get the feeling that you may not be reading what I'm writing, as I have addressed this point repeatedly. So I'll stop now, as this is going nowhere. I have definitely read what you wrote, I just don't think you have given adequate evidence that proves this feature would cause ...

Re: A case for 5x vertical crop in 1080p mode.
My concern is that cropping to 216 lines will negatively affect some cores, even if it pleases some people on the NES/SNES/Genesis. If its an optional feature then how could it negatively affect cores? If a user doesn't like how it looks then just like any other feature they can simply disable it. Again, the usefulness of this feature will be on a...
