Re: 8bitdo USB adapter gets stuck and registers no input after hard reboot
Re-pairing an already known controller is instantaneous: just press and hold the button dedicated to it on the controller for a couple of seconds. It will do its lighting thing then be back to normal. That is what I meant, and what I do all the time in such instances of loss of synch.

easier than unplug replug, just resynch your controller, they will reconnect to it immediately.

Probably turn the sync on green switch off on the MiSTer board.

I'd rather people voice their opinion than just give "good points" as if this were kindergarten.

Re: names.txt - Proper System Names in OSD
PC-88 should be NEC PC-8801 (or NEC PC-8801mkIISR if you wish, as it is the line the core aims for) instead of Nippon PC-8800

The Archimedes was using a 32 bits RISC CPU and got a core on the MiSTer.

Re: Floppy drive sounds
You are missing something. If done correctly, it is helpful in that it can tell when some games are stuck for one reason or another, without having to stare 3 minutes at a screen hoping for the best to happen.

Re: Floppy drive sounds
Apparently that is already implemented, but in a fork of the Amiga core ? See : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgUl5Vll5vo Would be nice if this support was brought to mainline. It seems this one sends the floppy sound to a buzzer or something? Although that would rock my world, I don't have the skills to plug that and a brutal simple floppy soun...

Floppy drive sounds
Okay, this is really silly, but something that I've been missing from my first contact with the MiSTer, so I might as well share it. I love floppy (or even hard) drives sounds. They tell me if something is going as expected or wrong. They are reassuring. I wanted to know how feasible and if it were one day a possibility to have, as an option, flopp...

This is exactly my own experience. First cartridge after core load works fine, subsequent ones don't. I'm running 128MB SDRAM module.

I have heard that and put a few files there, but there is no floppy drive options in the OSD. Do we need to grab an older release of the core as well?

Re: Atari 800 core not working since 20200509 release
I don't use cartridges much, I've tried fiddling around with them and I've noticed they seem to "corrupt" easily or something, and to require me to relaunch the core when I want to launch them reliably.

M.U.L.E
Atari 800 comes natively with 4 joysticks support, supposedly, although I haven't had the joy of trying it yet.
If one or more of your friends can decypher Japanese, Super Momotaro Dentetsu 2 for the PC-Engine is an amazing 5 players board game, with tons of variety, and it teaches geography too!

The first time, it could well have formatted the backup (it's one of the menu items after all).
Do you update using scripts? Maybe something went wrong at a step of the process? Just speculating.

It may be more efficient, but you are ignoring that there is no containment, and thus stagnation of hot air without a case. So effective cooling matters less than in an encased context.

Re: MiSTer Computer Cheat Sheet FAQ
A little addon: regarding the CPC, some floppy games will report an error when using the CAT command. This means they are CPM formatted. You launch them by typing: |cpm The | (vertical bar symbol) is obtained by holding the shift key and pressing the “[” one (left bracket) on an US keyboard, assuming the CPC keyboard layout is English as well. On s...

I tried it: it switches for a few seconds to 15khz at 50hz refresh rate, then seems to switch back to 31khz sadly.

The problem is that USB keyboards layouts themselves vary as much, if not more, so that is next to impossible untill there is a global keyboard format (I won't probably spoil much by saying neural interfaces will happen way before that is even likely!).

Re: Would a Super Game Boy core/function be possible?
In my experience it's very sketchy at moment, not working on the first load of the rom, then staying when you load another, as if there were some kind of memory displacement in time. But I confess since it doesn't support the sound output provided by the SFC and don't like most of the choices of the colour palettes, I just keep it turned off.

Thankfully, a working one is supplied at the core's github : https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Amstrad ... mstrad.rom
Just rename it to boot.rom and drop it in the CPC games folder.

As a first move, in my experience, you should look up games with NES 2.0 headers. I had a bunch of issues with my older sets, almost all solved by starting to use such dumps.

Re: Pre-Feature Request: Split MRAs into folders
I would say no, and my thinking is simple: people who run updater scripts regularly don't probably care about structure and categories first, but want stuff to work and be updated while not having to second guess it. I haven't run the updater script in ages, because not only have I organised my MRAs, but my computer and console cores as well. Like ...
