Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

How feasible would it be to implement a SDL video driver that targets this, so that it could be used with any SDL-based application?

Re: MiSTer Multisystem - All-in-One System

I've finally finished assembling my MMS enclosure over the holidays (after a mishap of not ordering the right kind of nuts at first). Everything is fine and dandy now. I'm now looking at buying some SNAC adapters, and I'm a bit confused as to what to get, and possibly what position to set J17 to. The MMS manual says that it has a "built-in lev...

Re: Control MiSTer Menu with SNAC?

Using SNAC as your "primary" input makes no absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's not just that you cannot control the menu, you are also only going to be able to use cores that implement this specific kind of SNAC input (so in this case, pretty much only arcade cores).

Getting a USB-based solution will save you a LOT a trouble.

RetroCollective eventually fixed their store so I could order an enclosure from them, just got it now, tried to install it and... the necessary screws and bolts aren't included??? Just noticed this fine print on their product listing: "Please note: The MiSTer Multisystem case is sold as only the 3D printed parts and does not include screws and...

Yes that's my point, I don't understand why you suddenly started saying "a cable that can carry voltage" in the general sense.

Re: HDMI Output Not Working

Surely, the HDMI port is not that touchy. I have plugged in the HDMI port on my working Mister numerous times while the monitor was running. I still have not tried removing the IO board yet. I will do that when I get back. 99 times it will be fine then on the 100th ..... Its always best not to swap a cable that can carry voltage while the device i...

Weird counter argument ? You said 60hz was the intended experience, yet you don't know that for fact. But here IS a fact, the "Intended experience" was on REAL hardware, connected to a CRT - that is FACT. Not one single dev, in the 90s, would have developed a game for future LCD Tech, or FPGA tech, everything was developed for the tech o...

I grew up with PAL, so why would I care about NTSC ? Most games are probably designed for 60Hz so they are the intended experience. Rubbish. Re: HDMI Output Not Working

I killed a HDMI out on one of my DE-10 Nano, was preparing / building a second and plugging stuff in and out. As far as I know the DE-10 Nano doesn´t like pluggin in / out cables on the HDMI while the system and / or the TV / Monitor is running. There should probably be a warning about that in the MiSTer user docs! I know there are warnings about ...

I have also recently found that the HDMI port on my DE-10 nano is dead. Can't get a picture no matter what. And of course still nothing after the fresh install. Also tried my DE-10 nan...

Re: Why Remove CRT Adjust?

Almost every core in MiSTer outputs a wholly distinct video signal with different horizontal and vertical timings. I'm pretty sure that a global setting is fundamentally impossible by the very nature of how MiSTer accurately reproduces the original video signals of each platform it implements.

It would be nice if MiSTer had a global setting for orientation that all cores would follow. Maybe not all cores could feasibly support it, but at least having the possiblilty would make for a better experience.

Re: Discussion and Development of a 'MiSTer 2.0' Modular Hardware Platform

The way I see it, the only major drawback of the DE-10 Nano as a MiSTer target is its HDMI 1.x port. A board with a HDMI port capable of 4K would be great for enabling scaler output to 4K, which seems to me that is the only aspect where MiSTer feels lacking. (With that said I'm not sure about how much extra load it would put on the FPGA to do 4K sc...

Re: Monochrome Display on Full HD Screen

The 640x400 output of the Atari ST is an anamorphic (ie. "non-square pixels") resolution, if you were to scale it to 1280x800 you would get the wrong aspect ratio. vscale_mode=1 will use integer scaling for the vertical resolution but free scaling for the horizontal resolution, which is a somewhat acceptable compromise for most cases. Hav...

Quick update: Got my Antonio adapter today. The reason I bought it was to connect my (analog i/o board equipped) MiSTer to my Commodore 1702 monitor, via S-video (and a 2xRCA to S-video adapter, which I already owned). Looks ok so far, although the entire picture seems slightly too red. Might just be that monitor's fault, though, it has seen bette...

Just ordered a Neo Geo Mini (international version) from Amazon.com, as it is dirt cheap ($45, whew) and I figured might be interesting to mess with, and if I end up not wanting to keep it I could always give it away as a Christmas gift. If you’re using a 8bitdo dongle you might need to update its firmware, they did add support for that controller recently.
