Re: DEVs - Shadow masks and how to make them better with sub pixel emulation
Really I think that is why the first "official" shaders focused on simple stripes. They give you some feel of colors landing differently on different lines without trying to replicate it exactly. This. I wrote in another thread that the quest for "perfect" CRT emulation is futile. It can't be done, and doesn't need to; all we'r...

Re: Shadow Mask development reference post CRT close up shadowmasks as refrence
I think there's a misunderstanding surrounding the whole shadow mask deal; there's no fk*n way you can replicate any CRT. The deal is to get close enough as a sensation , and get rid of those moribund... bulky things, as we'll all have to do with sooner or later, in order to preserve the games as close to what can be called 'authentic looks' in the...

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers
Case has several parts which i glue by same resin manually and then use sanding paper. This gives monolithic look of the case. Isn't Ricardo working on an injection molded enclosure after that design? I'm wondering of the costs involved to make this available to the end user (and of course of the retail price) :o In any case (pun intended), I hope...

Re: Space Invaders with Samples
Thank you Macro! While it's nice to have authentic sampled chirps from the source, I think striving to faithfully replicate/improve on initial TI SN76477 chip implementation, would be in the best spirit of FPGA preservation. Please don't get me wrong; I understand that'd be perhaps an impossible task, but Space Invaders is such a monumental stone t...

Those are tried and tested. You should be worryied more about your actual CRT's capabilities.

Re: BlisSTer V2.0 Board Power Input Burned Out Can Anyone Tell Which Component Died?
Here you go
0 in stock tho + long lead times in both digikey and mouser, so I guess it'd be better to ask for a direct replacement of the board from your supplier.
btw, the blisSTer is not considered an 'official' addon, so maybe you want to move your post to "Hardware Setups" instead.

One year with the MiSTer
Today marks my 1st anniversary with the device.
I still can't fathom how good it is. I'm everyday engaged with this thing; I'm rushing home to check for updates. I've even forgot what modern PC gaming means; GabeN must be mad at me
I welcome you to express and share your experience with the community. Let's celebrate!

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
I think Josh, given his work patterns which I very much respect and understand, should adopt an 'open' funding model akin to what @Blackwine does: have everything accessible to all, then leave it up to those who truly believe in you to chip-in. This may not exactly be 'safe' financially, but it's upfront and leads people to appreciate you and go al...

if like me one of the places you use mister is inside an arcade cabinet, this make my life much quicker as i can have just a list of neo geo games to pick from, all i have to do is choose one and it boots straight into the game. blackwine has done this in my thinking mainly for arcade cabinet enthusiasts, as lots of people use mister this way insi...

Re: Neo Geo Arcade Core
I'm not really getting the advantage tbh. Since this release doesn't include any improvements to the fidelity of the core itself, I'm not seeing any reason to substitute the 'console structure' for the 'arcade structure', unless one feels the urge to experiment with alternate rom/image files and the general integrity of his storage as is. Last I've...

Dangun Feveron is also a thing in the beta CAVE 68000 core... just saying :) Still needs some tweaks, but it's there :) It's ranked #13 after all in the Top 25 Shmups of All Time , so it must have some merit :P I would add: - Bari Arm (Mega CD) Thank you for this! So I`m clear :) Blister can run the same as a standard USB hub option ? And if you want to use it as Blister Hub, then this requires modified cores ? I guess the next question being, is it easy to switch between Blister and normal USB hub modes ? As for modified cores, are they completely separate from the standard cores or is it patches you apply...

Agreed, I'm just suggesting that if one is willing to spend the extra dough, a blisSTer will be preferable to the bog standard USB board. Having additional options never hurts :) PS: I'm using an iBuffalo pad (less lag compared to Deamonbite) just to navigate the menus LOL , SNAC for the consoles which support it, 'cause I happen to have *many* OG ...

Re: MiSTer Pre-build
If I had the money to spare, I'd go with the blisSTer. Not only is it an exquisite product even if just treated as a standard USB board (with the added bonus of an embedded power switch and surge protection for the whole MiSTer), but it also allows for LLAPI. Now, there's a popular misconception about what LLAPI actually is and does; first, it isn'...
