Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller
Today the framework got promoted to stable with many updates, but alas the couple of lines of code needed to make the spinner functional (with Arkanoid at least), are still missing :( Here are those lines by @ theypsilon , in case anyone wants to compile the newest MiSTer binary with the fix incorporated inside input.cpp : 5111 if (data[0] & 8)...

New garegga.rbf is out with changed SDRAM settings. Check it out if you're still having "bad rom" issues.

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core
Sorry for pissing on your party guys, but can you inform me where one can source an OG LS-30!?
There's this recent HORI concept incorporating a rotary stick, but a surviving LS-30 one can get hold of is akin to buying the Mona Lisa

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Any one getting a bad rom when trying to run garegga, tried the rom downloaded by update_all and the mame combined rom still the same i have all the same files on another mister and it works and all the other games the core supports work its a bit odd. I know it sounds silly, but did you try to power off (not cold reboot) and then power on your Mi...

...not *just* 3 more games; this is BATTLE GAREGGA* for crying out loud!
I never thought I'd see the day on my MiSTer!
Onward to Dogyuun, Batsugun (...and maybe Truxton II), then I'll die a happy man!

Re: PS Menu Shaking
Since I've started using the PSX core, I've had this odd issue where the main menu (where you manage memory card/cds) is shaking, like the menu text is flickering up/down quickly. Open the OSD, scroll down to " Video & Audio ", then from within change " Deinterlacing: " from " Bob " to " Weave ". Save se...

Re: Tomy Tutor / Pyuta / PyutaJr
In order to combine tutor1.bin with tutor2.bin from the MAME .zip using Windows (so as to not get a condensed 16kb, useless bios rom), make sure you launch command prompt instead of PowerShell. Cd /D to the absolute path of the directory you're hosting the files, and then simply copy and enter: copy /b tutor1.bin+tutor2.bin Tutor.rom ...exactly as ...

Battle Bakraid beta has been released! \o/ 12120.png Some advice for getting the core to run: "Did you turn it off and back on?" It's the first time this staple 'IT support' quote has got some merit  For some strange reason, SDRAM retains data and that's not good for the particular core; just power the MiSTer off (not just reboo...

Re: Anyone here into VR?
I've been through a number of tethered headsets (with the OG Vive as my first foray), my standard always being outside-in tracking. I keep the Valve Index as the best all-rounder. That said, any "retro enthusiast" such as we 're all here, should get into VR to at least experience Jeff Minter's masterpieces in the medium: Polybius and Moos...

Re: USB Rotary Joystick Control Interface From Ultimarc Support/Issue
It seems like the rotary board is showing as a keyboard. So when you fire up the test core, it registers each turning "notch" as a different key press? If that's the case, then it's up to the developer of each individual core (which was originally built around a rotary joystick), to implement a "keyboard translation" control sc...

Re: USB Rotary Joystick Control Interface From Ultimarc Support/Issue
Does the test core report the rotary controls as being a mouse wheel [WHL]? If so, it's probably an issue similar to this.
@theypsilon (the update_all script guy) has found a solution, but this hasn't yet been amended inside MiSTer's linux kernel.

Re: Nichibutsu M68000 Based HW (Terra Cresta/Force)
Darren's on fire! Thank you for keeping us updated. I daily peruse Darren's github to see what's new. However, having to enable unofficial_cores inside the update_all script to be current with these awesome cores, comes with a downside; all the old, redundant MrX_8B cores get downloaded as well, and this messes up with the file structure. Re: Game & Watch Core
I noticed Gameboy has an option for all the sprites casting a shadow. I'm wondering if that could be done for GNW core as well? Game Boy renders in a square pixel grid, hence the particular mask filter producing that "drop shadow" effect has been possible (that's why it requires both horizontal and vertical integer scaling for it to work...

Re: Game & Watch Core
I've updated the archive with slightly adjusted .svg alignments for Donkey Kong, Life Boat and Mickey & Donald.
It's quite hard to preserve the original aspect ratio of the segments, while having them fit to the backgrounds correctly. I found out that working with numbers instead of going by eye, gives better results.

Little recognition has gone to the guy's efforts, although his output is top to begin with.

Thank you!

I fully agree with you. We need a central place open to anyone who wants to collaborate. I thought archive.org might be a good solution for long-term storage but uploads seem to be limited to one account only. Does anyone have a suggestion? That's the one in the archive; problem is, the input map is not yet supported by the core (just like with "Fire Attack").
On another note, I've added Rain Shower

Re: Game & Watch Core
both packs only provide 15 out of 18 between them unfortunately. I wasn't able to convert Rain Shower unfortunately; the .svg's included in the MAME romset came out blank in the tool. As for the other two omitted, those use a weird display format, sorry :( The core is only going to improve from now on, so I guess we'll have to redo the conversions...

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Before the post mentioning editing the mra I already had downloaded the rom from 0.244 merged and it works. As I don't really understand all this mame stuff do I have to do something like changing the version in the mra from 0229 to 0244? No, I think 0244 CRC doesn't match that of the 0229 set. I got it working only once with the 0244 set, and the...
