Re: Palette Options
I've been wondering about this. So out of the two palette options, original and raw RGB, what is original supposed to be? The raw RGB palette seems to more closely match what my core grafx II outputs with HD Retrovision cables. Both are still a ways off though. HDRV cables are probably just converting the RGB pins, so they would show the raw color...

Re: Adventure Vision
Fantastic! Really happy to see the core appear so soon. I like that it has a mirror option, it gives more of an impression of the real thing. Super Cobra has some odd vertical tearing with its scrolling, no idea if the original has that as well. As far as I can tell (the original is pretty hard to get good recordings of) this is an aspect of the g...

Re: Adventure Vision
I've ported the core. I'll be submitting the code to the mister repo in short order after a little QA.
Roms go in the AVision folder, no other setup required.

He said some time ago someone else could add it, but he wouldn't do it himself. It has to be done in a way that is acceptable code though. Now that EXT_BUS and etc exists this should be much easier.

Re: GBC Rumble Support
I remember we had a discussion about arcade rumble support a year or so ago and nobody could name any from the eras that MiSTer covers that had feedback. If anyone can think of any please chime in! perhaps irritating maze for neogeo which had air jets that made noise and stuff could be replaced by rumble. I dont know if that game is even playable ...

Re: Release DE10 Nano Overclock Kernel BETA
We need to get the MT-32 in FPGA. I am not sure how much space it would take up, but it could be well worth it even if the L2 cache was a bit smaller in ao486. While it would be quite cool to make an fpga version of the mt32, it definitely would not fit in the 486 core, which is arguably the primary use for it to begin with. I think it would also ...

Re: Scanlines while scrolling
Scanlines dissapearing while scrolling has to do with the way your screen processes the image. If you turn on black frame insertion on a tv/monitor capable of this you'll see it gets less. Ive yet to find a good solution on the mister to keep the lines on screen while scrolling. More technically it has to do with how your brain and eyes process th...

Re: Atari Jaguar Core
The current core may seem like it's in rough shape because it's so easy to make the object processor stall and crash, but a lot of things are going pretty right. I do think just spending a little dedicated time to get familiar with how the ASICs were made and clean up the TLW signal issues, which are almost certainly surrounding the problems, can g...

Re: Atari Jaguar Core
I don't think there's any point in debating a CD feature as long as the core is in such a state that almost nothing is running. I'm also not sure if anyone dares to take on the project after all these years. I wouldn't say almost nothing is running. Afaik, many games are running, they're just not stable enough to be played. This core will need a l...

Re: Atari Jaguar Core
This core has very little implemented besides the 68000 CPU. I think it runs five games and it hasn't been worked on in two years now. The Jaguar core has the 68000, the OS rom, the cart bus, the dram bus, and Tom and Jerry both fully implemented by converting atari's own netlists. The issue with the core is the real hardware used a very wide and ...

I try to find the info where it said the VGA port currently is fine for using with TVs but is too weak for CRT VGA monitors so direct video workaround is recommended. I believe this info was on an official page but I literally can't find it now and I really want to find it. How do you explain this?? Let me clarify some things for you. Officially, ...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
@Kitrinx Your 7800 MiSTer core is absolutely fantastic! I am revisiting my MiST FPGA and see others are hoping for a port of this so I thought to relay this (if you haven't been bombarded with this request already). I'm glad you like it! It's made nearly entirely based off schematics so it should be very accurate. Nobody has contacted me about por...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
I don't get what would harmony support give anyone. The core has multiple mapper support, and can load most roms, so why would you need to replicate a flash cart? We have save key, most graphical options, Tapper works, and we have 7800 game support. Plus all the modern filters, and shadow mask support. This core was given a lot of love and attenti...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
How does the integrated save key work? I tried playing some games that offer that support and it didn't save and I didn't see an option for a save key in the OSD. Also, is it possible to add Harmony support for the 2600 side? That would make this amazing core even better! The savekey is a curious accessory that plugs into the (usually) the second ...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
Thank you Kitrinx. It worked. I never used this feature before. Unfortunatly I had to grab my USB KB of my PC because I only use a very small BT KB for MISTER which has no num lock key. Is there a way to save this behaviour as a default? I tried to save the configs in the core but they are gone when I reboot. I also looked at the mister.ini becaus...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
Hey there, I tried the Atari 7800 core today as the replacement for the 2600. Works good so far. Thank you. It has more border black around the picture in non integer mode on my 5:4 LCD than the old core but otherwise it's playing all stuff I threw at it. Question: How can I use the normal keyboard (the one I'm controlling the OSD with too)? I can...

yes, both of them already do. Make sure you're using a decent set of roms as it relies on proper header information. I suggest Trebor's pro pack, which you can easily google.

Re: Atari 2600
Please let me know if this resolves the star raider problem (and hopefully doesn't break any other input). I also added some keys for the switches, but they're a little different than stella, because it's a lot easier for me to make them work the same as the buttons. Has this been released to the official core? I think I tried the latest update an...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
It sounds like the GRS is emulating a joystick rather than the mouse, or perhaps has special support. I don't know why it's disconnecting for you, perhaps a wire is loose? As for mr. spinner, it seems like perhaps something is wrong in how you set it up, that's clearly not correct behavior. Well, I am happy to say I solved both of my problems. How...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
Obviously maintaining separate code bases would be needless and silly. No more silly than the many arcade cores, or the many computer cores, or the many consoles cores, or the utterly pointless ScummVM core - but it exists. Nobody here has the right to right-off THE most iconic console of all time. NOBODY. You don't get to say what gets deleted or...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
On a second thought, regarding the settings, then I can see that we may have issues like: - different optimal resolutions (atrac17 video modes) for SMS and Game Gear - different scanlines/shadow masks/etc. settings for SMS and Game Gear That is exactly the problem I have with the combined SMS + Game Gear core. Those machines use completely differe...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
You're probably right. I think it says "Menu" when assigning the buttons. But I remember reading something like "Hold OSD to cancel" during the assignment, probably because the MiSTer button says OSD. Anyway, any Bluetooth or USB controller with Menu assigned or the OSD button on MiSTer should work for skipping buttons. Or the ...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
It creates special paddle devices on mister. They are neither a mouse nor a joystick. The framework has a special port for them, which the core supports. Great! That is the key piece that I was looking for. So if I create a two-Paddles Mr. Spinner, and I choose "Paddle" for Port 1 in the 7800 core, both paddles will work. If I create a s...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
Correct, but looking at the code, I think the two paddles are mapped as a single joystick with X and Y being the two paddles. I haven't built one, so I can't say for sure. That is the same thing the D9 does currently and it isn't working. Sorry if I am being a pain, and I am really trying not to be. I just have my doubts it will work based on what...
