Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
Try using REAL hardware for a few days, then you'll soon see how damn easy the Mister is. I agree with you. I can still remember how often I was desperate about the one or other thing. The amiga was still really user friendly. My first computer was an Atari 1040ST that my father gave me as a little child, but I can still remember how easy it was t...

Re: New hardware platforms for MiSTer?
Right. The Super NT uses a different Cyclone V, the 5CEBA4F23C8N. It has no ARM core and it has roughly half the logic elements. The single unit price of that is ~$53.
The Mister uses the SE 5CSEBA6U23I7 which has a single unit price of ~$243
I'm sure people will be ecstatic if you can hit the $200 price point. Good luck.

Re: New hardware platforms for MiSTer?
@iamTeddyNL I find your vision VERY attractive: we really need something like the MiSTer but in SuperNT-like for, ready to use, no modular desing, NO catidge slots (microSD is enough), simply a board where all those cores can be deployed for a ~150 to 200 price tag. If that's doable, count on me. Right, the rub is that's not doable. Even if you so...

Re: Intellivision Core (INTV)
Looking at the core source: digital inputs (up/down/left/right in Mister key binding) are mapped to 8 directions (N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW) on the intellivision controller. ANALOG input is mapped to all 16 intellivision directions. I'm not familiar with whatever adapters/controllers you are all using, but the key to getting 16 directions in this core is...

Re: Galaga Core Wont Start
Mister searches mame zip files by CRC first, not file name. I think it still falls back to filename if the CRC doesn't exist.
Regardless, those files exist in the roms, just not with those file names. For example 2600j.bin is actually gg1_9.4l

Re: LUTs / DRAM / SRAM / Block RAM chart
ScummVM is not an emulator. It's a reimplementation of the games it supports, it is basically using the art and scripting assets in the game files and 'running' them in a modern cross platform executable. ScummVM can run on a variety of platforms (windows, x86_64 linux, ARM linux etc). When you run it on the Mister you are just running the linux ar...

Re: New distribution system for Jotego cores
Is there any way to just opt into the Open Beta stuff, but not the Closed Betas? I don't want to start a game and find out it's locked only when it has loaded. It's frustrating. Nope. He rearranged his releases so that jtbin contains both open and closed betas, and 'jtstable' contains public cores but at a slower cadence than 'jtbin'. Previously e...

Re: Can't connect MiSTer to FTP
Maybe I set the controller up wrong. Or maybe just using it wrong. I use the A button on the buffalo SNES pad to select. So if I want to play forgotten worlds I choose arcade > unofficial > cps1 > forgotten worlds. This works fine. For every console, as soon as I choose a core, it loads a single game. So console > genesis loads Sonic 1. I have no ...

Re: Is CD+G possible?
The existing MegaCD subcode stuff I resurrected+fixed didn't have a FIFO. It just updates/simulates the ring buffer the raw subcodes are stored in and asserts the interrupt. That ring buffer is only 15 words bigger than a full subcode set, although the interrupt is supposed to only fire when a full subcode set is 'valid' in the buffer. I guess ther...

Re: Is CD+G possible?
OK, finally got it working after doing my own Quartus build - I think I picked up an earlier prebuild before things were ironed out. Is what appears to be random decoding and/or paint errors a known issue? No matter what disc I choose (or how many times I cold restart), a minimum of one (but often 2-4) vertical 'strips' anywhere from 2 to 8 'block...

I can also confirm the 'cd+g channel' is a pure 'software' feature. It works with no changes to the core or main (other than all the changes to support CD+G).

Re: Is CD+G possible?
In that repo I linked there's a directory 'releases', that has an updated MiSTer_20210703. If you just want to compile your own there's a 'patches' directory, use the one that starts with '0006' Zakk4223, looking at your patches, I see that much of the plumbing for the MegaCD core was apparently already in Main_MiSTer, just needing to be uncomment...

You'll need a modified MiSTer binary and a modified core. Main Mister: You can grab a pre-compiled version with the changes from the releases directory here: https://github.com/zakk4223/Main_Mister_ZQol Use the latest file in the directory. If you'd prefer to not have all my weird input/autofire changes, look in the 'patches' directory for the Main...

You need to add the DOWNLOAD_BETA_CORES to update_jtcores.ini not update_all.ini
Or just use the configuration mode of update_all and set it that way

You can use this for now, it's the final release candidate which he already made public awhile ago. It's the one that still has some of the bugs he was working to address regarding the 68k I think.

Re: Is CD+G possible?
Yeah, there's players. You just have to look for karaoke software, since it is used there. Just for validation I was converting the toc/bin to mp3+cdg and then using a karaoke player to play them. I'm on linux though so the tools are a bit rough; there may be better options on windows. I also keep seeing mentions that kega fusion can do cd+g, but I...

Because the wiki has GBA listed twice, once for the normal core and another entry for the GBA2P branch. Unfortunately the update script doesn't really seem to support that so it only downloads the GBA core, not GBA2P. Looks like it just checks the main GBA branch twice

Looks like the sound chip is. Other than that it is completely unrelated to a Saturn.
The model 3 has a PowerPC cpu and a proper 3d GPU (Real3D Pro-1000) (multiple of them I believe). It also got substantial upgrades in later revisions.

I just loaded a PCE CD and logged what it tried. It tried to load this:

For some reason it adds a [] to the file name, I'm not sure why
