Re: Any chance for composite blend like in Genesis?
I stand by what I said - open source is (quite by definition!) a people-oriented exercise, and one of sheer frustration for anyone that doesn't like interacting with people. I'm not speaking glibly, I'm talking from direct experience watching a considerable number of otherwise solid efforts flame out because they couldn't handle people reporting (o...

No, I'm smirking at the notion of fitting a full-speed CL GD5426 into the DE10 alongside the Minimig core.

Is there even such a thing as a Stormtrooper case for the digital I/O board versus the original one?

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
@bazza_12: I don't want to speak for anyone else, but to be honest, the Amiga's day as a productivity platform has long passed and serves no viable purpose at all. Games are the focus largely because they remain viable and largely as relevant today as the day they were released - word processors, not so much. If you do dearly wish to relive the (ve...

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
Tried it .. not the same .. its quantitatively different like that.. seems fake and unreal. To be fair, so does Picasso96 and AHI (at least to me). The "hardware sprite" pointer alone - even when double-sized - looks off and doesn't "glide" right on actual hardware. Not sure how to explain it. Amiga mouse movement has a VERY di...

Re: Any chance for composite blend like in Genesis?
I'll see what I can find re: a formalized Nintendo style guide. I can quote the relevant text (about the identical problem) for the Amiga if you like. OK - I (lightly) scanned through all my old contemporary doc scans (and papers) and couldn't find anything specific re: Nintendo aspect ratio concerns - whether that's because formal documentation f...

Agreed - that's a shame. It'd be nice if you could shift video modes without tinkering with fine-grain refresh rate.

Re: Any chance for composite blend like in Genesis?
Well, sometimes. There are plenty of examples of SNES games where square pixels in the native 8:7 aspect ratio produce true circles, while a 4:3 stretch of that makes ovals. That feature very obviously varies by developer, so you can't just blanket state that one or the other is truly correct. Of course I can. The target display of an SNES *does n...

NTSC vs PAL autoswitching clarification
Posting in Newcomers because I'm assuming the answer is obvious and I'm just daft. :) Ideally, I'd like a "hands-off" approach to regional video output (to HDMI)...so in a more refined example, I'd like US Genesis games to display at ~60Hz, and PAL Genesis games to display at ~50Hz without intervention. vsync_adjust=2 comes close, but unf...

Re: Any chance for composite blend like in Genesis?
Sorry for being this harsh, but it's getting rather ridiculous. The current spate of devs don't want to implement it, and that's fine - I have no issue with that. But if people want to discuss relevance, and are not just being criticized - but *judged* - for pointing out that _yes, that's really how it was, no matter how much you wish it were othe...

Re: Any chance for composite blend like in Genesis?
The same is absolutely true of 4:3. *NO* video chip from that era produced square pixels, yet that's how they were drawn - artists had to actually take that into account and compensate for it by drawing art stretched 'thin' so it would appear properly on a 4:3 CRT. "Pixel perfect" (or 1:! square pixels), in retro terms, is *inherently wr...

Re: Any chance for composite blend like in Genesis?
(Meanwhile the RGB out was super clean and absolutely gorgeous. Personally I'm in the Sorgelig camp on this debate, I don't see why people want to deliberately destroy their picture quality for some dubious argument about composite output being the "correct" way to render those graphics (it's not), but to each his own...) Could not possi...

Re: Unibios change region defaults.
It's worth noting - because it's strangely misunderstood to this day - that there were *three* MVS regions (USA, EUR, and JPN), but only _two_ AES regions (EUR - effectively English - and JPN). This is important because the UniBIOS setting of AES/USA was literally impossible in the real world (on unmodified hardware), despite games working perfectl...

The first one, and no, in that order.

In Karateka, I can move left and right, and I can stand up (and bow), but when I try to run (stand/up + upper-right), I go right back into a fighting stance. Any clues on what I may be doing wrong?

Difficulty with "modem"
I followed the directions for serial support (UART Connection: MIDI, MidiLink: Remote, Type: TCP) and loaded Striketerm 2014 (confirming baud to be 2400), but I can't get basic communication with itself working - typing anything at all just results in the same C= graphics character being printed. Something is listening, because "at" resul...

Primal Rage is extremely unlikely - the protection is not fully understood to this day (and the creator has adamantly refused to help).
